I outright stated that it sucked in the post.

Full body VS.

Here's my newest bot, titled:

It sucks. It's riddled with AGOD if I don't pause before the match starts, can't turn, and it spins slow as all hell. If I try this design again it'll probably be with faster z-teks.

Make it larger.

The number one priority on a LW popup is to make it large and durable. Unlike some other bot types (namely horizontal spinners), popups benefit from having as large of a chassis as possible, mostly so that you can make the robot steeper. It also increases your chassis HP a fair bit. What you should do is focus your weight allowance less on what you have now and more on increasing your chassis size.

Flying robots already happened all the way back in the 90's.

SPS #2 (the one with the weather balloons strapped on) won a fight before this because lolnet (which are banned now anyways), but that's about it.

Not to mention that it'd be really difficult to do any damage with a flying robot. Imagine if you made a regular run of the mill spinner like, say, nightmare, and strapped balloons or other methods of flying onto it. Sounds pretty overpowered, right? Since you get the damage of a spinner along with the mobility of a flying robot? Not really, because the moment the spinning disk (or any kind of moving weapon really) hits the other bot, the flying robot will just push itself back due to recoil and newton's second law. Then it'll just kind of flop around and probably tangle itself too.

Also, good luck getting anything larger than maybe a LW off the ground.

Okay so here's the low-down. Hard drive crapped the bed and doesn't work anymore and more than likely won't work despite my best efforts. I could, in theory, re-AI everyone's bots (bar mine since I don't have them anymore) and run the remaining matches. I can pretty easily rebuild that one AW that got to the final with something like 99% accuracy, so that's not a huge deal. I can even double-check the other 4 brackets to make sure no bots get left out (IIRC a total of 5 bots were left out the first time around).

Here's the thing though, that would mean that the tourney would still be running something like 1 or 2 months after the tourney deadline. Are the tourney mods cool with that? I also want to gauge some interest to see if it's worth the effort. If nobody cares then I won't bother and will spend my time with other RA2 projects.

Well, my hard drive decided to suffer from Robot Wars Syndrometm and screw itself for no apparent reason. Basically, I don't have anything related to RA2 any more.

so, uhhh

anyone knows how to make arenas bouncy?
I believe the number next to "ELASTICITY" determines how hard things bounce off of it. I know it appears in component .gmf's but I'm not sure if it appears in arena .gmf's.

also let's be honest RA2 is not a skill based game in the slightest, someone could in all seriousness become the best player in the world in like 4 days if they just copied the best bots and saw how to do everything properly from tutorials.
Yeah that's the thing though. A large majority of people just TL;DR the tutorials and ignore the concept of "lurking" and end up either sucking at building when they start out or exclusively doing IRL-style building because they don't know how to build. Couple that in with the fact that a lot of members are 13-16 years old when they join and you've got a grand total of, like, 3 people that know how to build at a top level when they first start up their showcase.

Here's all the AW matches up to the finals (which will be done last, obviously).

BW and maybe even part of the LW division might be up this weekend. Editing is going along much more easily now that that the AW borefest is just about done.

Look at him, enforcing the rules in a fair manner.

This is not what moderating is on this site.

How DARE he step away from the norm imposed by the mighty naryar.

If you are going for IRL
Yeah, no. IRL is actively bad for someone new to start out with.

The wedges are useless altogether on a single-motor HS. My best bet would be to use the top attachment point of the perm for your weapon. That way you can put as long of a weapon on as you want and not have it intersect the motor. You might also want to consider attaching the perm to the front of your chassis.

1. You get tournament results
RA2 != FGC. People are generally more concerned with showcases rather than tourney wins, unless it's something like BBEANS.

You shouldn't be using a perm on an AW.
its a lw
You shouldn't be using a perm on a LW either.

I thought you said it was a Double Elimination tourney, or circumstances have changed?
Nope, changed it back to double elimination.

Also, it appears "Sweeper" is actually a BW and has been placed into the BW bracket.

All of the above mentioned oversights should now be fixed. The brackets are now final, and the entire AW tourney should be up saturday or sunday.
