Bad Blood please.
bad blood is taken
Look at when Gropaga's post was last edited. MassimoV is clearly the reason why Bad Blood is crossed out.

To add a team follow this tutorial. To add a new AI bot, just follow the AI chart in philetbabe's signiture. I would have also recommended RFSHQ's AIing tutorial but I think it went down with his site. I think it would be possible to make DSA an option in the armor selection screen (while still remaining compatible with vanilla RA2) but it wouldn't have the same reflective properties.

He has already made his decompiler work for RA1 components so all you need to do is decompile it then recompile it (though it may require a bit of minor things to make it RA2 compatible). After that, all you really need to do is make some text files.

Almost everybody can take screenshots so all you really need to do is find someone with time on their hands. If you want a host that will record the fight then you're gonna have to find one that isn't too busy. I personally haven't been following the Challenge Board that much (its not my responsibility to moderate it) so I can't really name any names but you can also look at the tournament section. The difficulty in finding a host is actually why this needs to be done via PM (or the discussion thread). Since it is not required, there is no reason to put off a challenge just to get one.
Just to get things back on track, I'll offer my services to make a bare-bones video for you guys. Even if it turns out that I'm too busy, there is a timeout period for hosts in the rules now so it shouldn't be a problem. Though in the future, please follow the procedure.

Read step 2 of the procedure. This rule was made so that moderators only needed to look at when the thread was made to determine when it should be over.

The Trov Glitch was first announced on the old forums. I thought about mentioning it anyways but I'm not that kind of guy (thats partially why it took a year for my glitch to resurface on these forums).
The Online Arena should be extracted directly to your arenas folder. It will only be visible when you are playing Deathmatch mode, though because I wanted to be as minimalistic as possible. If I ever get around to it there is actually quite a bit that I could still do to make it better.
Anyways just to make a correction, its Madiaba's v3 Smartzones not v2. There was also a few other components including the joust target, xtek, gas engine, badnik's component pack, 123STW's component pack (and mod for that matter), and JoeBlo's weight makers that I forgot to mention.
In terms of arenas, there was also the Musicbox, Keznorg, and Seizure Arenas.
I've yet to start-up my main computer so I'm certain I'm still missing quite a few other things. In fact, I'm almost positive that Gazea2 released some components that I'm forgetting.

Now that I'm thoroughly confused, lets get back to changes in RA2. The community: - The community is still pretty divided between stock and DSL but it seems like DSL has more support than ever.
- A majority of stock builders still prefer stacking and other glitches but some people favor realism.
- There are more tournaments now than there used to be but rules have been instated to regulate a constant flow of tournaments that will hopefully finish in a timely manner.
- The challenge board was added as a means of comparing one's abilities to the skills of other members.
AI Packs: - NAR AI - a derivative of DSL
- Backlash - a discontinued total conversion with the only release being a beta.
- INF AI - a stock AI pack that I would consider at a level slightly lower than PYS AI.
- RA2 ReStocked - another stock AI pack that focused on rebuilding all the stock AI with today's standards (unrealistic and much more challenging).
- Backlash - a discontinued total conversion with the only release being a beta.
- BBEANS AI - contains all the AI bots from BBEANS 1, 3, and 5 plus a few of the bots that were substituted during the sign-up periods. It also contains the prizes and arenas that were used (and one surprise arena).
- DSL BBEANS AI - contains all the AI bots from BBEANS 2, 4, and 6 plus a few of the bots that were substituted during the sign-up periods. It also contains the prizes and arenas that were used.
Glitches: - HAX Mode - a glitch that allows you to disable the collision meshes of baseplate components. In most cases, this glitch is treated the same as AAM due to the similar effects.
- Batteryless Spinner Glitch - a glitch that allows you to spin your weapon motors without batteries.
Arenas: - The BBEANS arenas
- Online arena (in my sig) - an extremely low lag arena that actually turns bots partially invisible.
- I think Madiaba released a custom Garage Arena but the link appears to be gone/missing.
- Backlashes arenas are being moved into G.K.'s arena compilation but that has yet to be released.
- Numerous other arenas have been made but I can't think of any others that were publicly released.
Components: - A new FB Component Pack which includes rockets and a force-field generator. I'm not sure but the lasers might also be new for you.
- Deodorant flamethrower and a pivot device that can move in every direction (the name escapes me ATM)
- Madiaba's Smartzones V2 have become the new standard for AIing bots
- Some people decided that stock needed the 140 extenders but they were obviously unfinished (and as such left out for a reason).
- At the same time, they also decided to add text files for the motor GMF that isn't being used. This one is strictly considered a custom component because it WILL crash a game that doesn't have the text file in it.
These are just the changes of the top of my head so I'm sure I'm missing quite a few things.

I tried it out with sage a while back and it definitely performed up to my expectations. We also met a random RA2 player there that joined in when he saw our server online. If it had been hamachi then he would have needed to be on the list of people for that server before hand.

If you don't want to spend the money, get something else. Handing out links like that can get this forum shutdown.
Blender is an excellent 3D modeling program thats free. If you want to make your own stuff for RA2, you can text edit (believe it or not, its easier for someone that has never used a 3D modeler before).

I was aware that you could get a little spin without batteries but getting it to go at full speed sounds interesting... BTW, you should't need to literally "hammer" the keys because unlike joysticks, they are either on or off (nothing inbetween).

Well, The thing is that cmon... DSL3 wont be releasing in a LOOONG time. Its practically dead... Theres no news & Its being worked on for years now but there doesnt seem to be any movement. No offence to Click or anything, But It seems like its never gonna be finished, Or atleast not in 2012/2013. (Just guessing here, But theres almost no activity?)
DSL3 was first announced in late 2008 with the intension of balancing everything and adding more components and AI. The last update that you guys saw was 7 months ago, but what you may not be aware of is that some of Backlash's components are being ported over to DSL (as of 2 months ago). So I would prefer to patch DSL2.1 up & Then we can go back to waiting for DSL3. It has been suggested that we help with DSL3 but what can the community do? Maybe Naryar & Other veterans that CAN do stuff can enter their stuff, But I remember someone saying something about Click not wanting any help? :\
Thats just plain silly. Click is accepting help in any way shape or form. He won't hand out the current build of DSL3 but that doesn't mean he doesn't want any help. If you don't believe me, read it for yourself... You're getting good at this. I'm not going to need any HW replicas for DSL (after I make the existing replicas their proper weight classes, there will be a great overabundance of HW's) but if you ever make some LW's or MW's, I am quite confident you could get them to DSL-quality.
Easy Tasks: (DSL2.5 would actually have less in this catagory) -Make decent LW or MW replicas -Improve the skins of components (not positive) -Create a positive atmosphere of interest. Discussing what you like/dislike, want/need, or even a positive remark would be helpful in sustaining interest in the project. -Make a better UI (may have already been done) -Ask one of the more advanced users how to do one of the programming tasks. 2-3 people have already asked me how to do certain mods that IMO could potentially be included in DSL3 after they were completed. I don't mind helping people that are interested in modding (regardless of prior knowledge) because it strengthens the community as a whole and makes my job easier in the long run (the selfish reason). Basic Programming Tasks: (some of these wouldn't even require that you know what you're doing) -Improve the GIB work (not positive) -Improve formulas for mobility, damage, and/or efficiency (the latter has already been done multiple times) -Modify existing components to be more realistic (attachment points, collision mesh, etc.) -Modify existing arenas to be more realistic -Make decent LW or MW replicas using custom components Advanced Programming Tasks: -Make new realistic components -Make new tactics and smarter AI -Make decent LW or MW replicas using custom components This is why Im suggesting this, Because I pretty much would prefer if we fixed the flaws DSL2.1 had while we wait for DSL3. (Which I dont really see happening) "Patching" up DSL 2.1 would be alot easier than working on DSL3, Its simply just balancing issues & Mesh fixing, Its not CREATING anything new like DSL3.
DSL3 started out as a patch for DSL2 (with the same intentions) but evolved into into a full-blown project after Click realized how much work needed to be done. Besides, Click doesnt want help with DSL3, So we arent wasting our time by working on this, Were making it better for ourselves while Click works on DSL3... If he wanted help, Sure this is a lost of time, but he doesnt, So its either stay with the faulties of DSL 2.1 or actually fix them, As a community, And bring more life into DSL.
Repeating the same thing over and over doesn't make it any more true. As previously mentioned, Click is accepting help but it has to be something that he hasn't already done, DSL-quality, and a necessary addition (no arenas). If the Ram plates are useful people will start using them, If the axes get useful (Somehow) people will start using them, Anything that gets "fixed" will be used. Instead of just putting ants into your bot you will have the choice of putting 4 other kinds... Instead of razors you could put axes, It gives you more options & Flexibility, Without adding components.
This is a much larger project than you are passing it off as. Most of the collision meshes are oversimplified (for lag reasons), all the components would need to be rebalanced, and making more realistic skins requires quite a bit of time per skin (it took me roughly 30 minutes per skin in stock). So yeah, basically I lost my hope in DSL3, It looks awesome as & Kudos to Click for working on it & Making it so awesome, But its just taking too long you know? Not to pressure or anything but its gonna be long since its released, It looks like its FAR AWAY from done (Or atleast were not getting the good news about its 98% Completion)
Because it looks to be so far away is why Im suggesting this...
Its a nice idea but it seems like too big of an overhaul especially when you consider that DSL3 could use the assistance instead.

I've tried a few different video editors but my favorite free one is probably Lightworks.

Actually, you don't really need to mess with any of the AI.py files. The AI gives the arena both its starting location and its target location so all you really need to do is intercept and modify that (this is what I did for the DSL Soccer Arena). Basically, you would map out a route (or routes) that the AI can "loosely" follow.
If you or anyone else would like to learn how to do it yourself, I wouldn't mind showing how. You would mostly be messing with coordinates (XYZ) and possibly a few conditionals (IF statements). I've already done all the more complicated stuff in my racetrack code so we would probably be building off of that (after explaining how my code works).

Click has been working hard to balance all the components for DSL3. For that reason, I think it would be more productive if people assisted him in his efforts. Otherwise, any additional fixes to DSL2 would need to be ported over to DSL3 without ruining its other fixes. The idea itself is a bit of an overhaul anyways so it deserves to have its own major version number.
I'm sure if people offered their services instead of making new packs, DSL3 would get done much sooner. Both JoeBlo's and Naryar's packs attempted to "fix" the problems with DSL2 while adding some of their own additions. I have no problem with people branching out from DSL but understand that it makes development much slower.
As one of the few good AI packs for DSL, people weren't happy to hear that NAR AI was also going to lose its compatibility with DSL2. IIRC, one of the reasons that you made it was because Click suggested that DSL2 wasn't going to be compatible with DSL3? (I'm not sure if this is still true)

Not that your idea would be hard to implement but I don't think it would take to much effort to get the AI working correctly in the DSL Obstacle Course Arena.
As for your arena idea, I think its a neat idea to kill the second player as soon as the course is finished.

RA2 is crumbling...
Oh, I will have none of that nonsense. You're not sparkey, ain't ya ?
RA2 isn't crumbling. 99,9% of all RA2 activity on the internet happens HERE, ON THIS FORUM. Is it dead ? Nope. Is it dying ? No good argument for that.
We're still having tournaments. We're still building robots, we're still discussing RA2, we're still having new and interested newbies. RA2 might be an old game and have a tiny fanbase compared to other games, it's NOT dying.
What is on the receiving end of my UNDILUTED, WHITE-HOT, AND ENTIRELY JUSTIFIED SPITE is actually people that whine and complain about RA2 dying. Not only it's entirely false, but you doomsayers setting up pessimism for the future, which is not a good thing for this forum's continued existence.
Seems like you guys actually want this community to end, or something similar, by saying that it is crumbling.
QFT. I remember back in 2006 when people said RA2 was dying. The fact is that there is still a strong interest in robot combat and there are not many alternatives.

I aimed for something original with 2 active weapon systems, that obeyed the rules. And actually, I think I achieved my aim. Deshell and KO's the original Grog from DSL2.1 in about 30seconds. But if you guys believe it is so wrong, put SKBT on the front page. Who am I to give a damn these days?
Oh boy, that was a close one. I actually voted for SKBT but Craaig won fair and square. Anyone with a problem with it should have entered. The issue is that we haven't gotten very many BOTM entries lately. On that thought, I might participate in the next one.

Also, by enabling anyone/everyone to edit the rankings, you run the risk of losing it all with an edit or someone falsifying them. There might be a way of making a SMF app that automatically gets this information but I don't have the time to look into it ATM.

You could probably download the nVIDIA fix seperately, if thats the case.
However, I would still recommend upgrading. You are already at an advantage against the AI so cheating hardly shows your skill. If you want to compete at full health, play exhibition (or change the time left manually). Exhibion is much more balanced (in more ways than one) than in-game tournaments and gives a much better analog of your abilities.

Even with that resolution, that doesn't seem quite right... At 1280x1024, it should look something like this: You can download this one from here (no conversion and all you have to do is extract it in your main RA2 directory).
