from the looks of it, it doesn't really even look liike it needs the wheels outside of the chassis. also, weight?
It weighs 391.8 KG. The wheels on the outside thing is because they don't fit inside. And because I saw everyone else do it in the "The Cauldron" tournament. I assumed it was a good idea.
They almost fit inside though. For maximum efficiency, you should do one of two things: Make the chassis slightly bigger so the drive will fit inside, or make it much smaller so there is just enough room for the baseplate anchors. Most people put drive motors externally because it allows the chassis to be smaller. With a big chassis, it is better to have internal drive because your motors won't fall off then. 4WD is cool but totally inefficient unless at least two of the motors are HP Z-teks. 4 normal Z-teks are about as powerful as 2 HP Z-teks but almost twice the weight. I kind of like this design; I can't remember seeing anyone build a serious 4WD MW spinner before. 4WD is so heavy on a MW you usually only see it on rammers.

I see this on more than one of your recent bots...
You see how the Z-tek model has little ridges on 4 of the 6 sides? Those ridges count as part of the collision mesh, meaning that the collision mesh makes a slightly flattened hexagon on the sides without ridges. If you rotate your drive motors so the side without ridges faces up and down, you should be able to use shiny hub wheels without any issues.
Switching to shiny hubs will let you upgrade 3 razors to irons on GC-Darts (technically 4, but it would be unbalanced).

Holy carp you actually did it. I wasn't sure it was possible. I would have tried too hard to make it symmetrical.
Downloading .bot file now to see if it's as good as I thought it would be.

Found an old chassis and made this wammer. I haven't tested this yet, but it could do well bear in mind the wedge works and doesn't get the bot halted by the weapons.
Having built LW wammers before, I can tell you right now that those extenders will fall off faster than Sewer Snake's wheels. Axes are much more reliable if you have the weight, because they cover the extenders better. I do like the look of it though. The others look nice too.

I've been wondering... was Tanto underweight to start with or how did you get that massive weapon on it? I hope you're allowed to use it soon.

I actually like it. Go for the box-rush, get one good flip before you die, and hopefully send the opponent OOTA. The speed should compensate for lack of raw flipping power. If the wedges are good enough it could win something.

I really believe in ironforge you don't need insanely powerful weapon motors. in DSL you could put some weaker weapons on a duel perm and stay reasonably competitive, but the super high HP of weapons relative to their DP makes it much harder to knock them off compared to DSL, generally making it better to have more weapons instead of a powerful motor for your weapon imo. in other words I doubt you need a 6mag. It takes forever to spin up with whatever you use due to your huge disk, i actually might shrink the entire bot a bit (disk, body, maybe wheels) and using the extra weight to make it tougher in armor and weapons. it looks very fragile to me. I doubt making it a bit smaller would hurt its effectiveness. it would be pretty easy too, most of your bot is extenders anyway.
The thing is, Undertaker needs to be huge for the blades to reach under other spinners and hit their chassis and wheels. I could make it smaller and add more weapons but then I'm just building a generic HS. (And yes, I did build another Undertaker in DSL a few years ago. It was basically the same design except it had a roll cage on top instead of invertibility. I'm surprised anyone remembers that.) That said, you might be right about the weapon motor. I did build it with a 4-Firebird first and upgraded to the 6 later to try to improve the spinup time. (Also because of new player "must use biggest motor" syndrome.) And it was still good with the 4. Iron Phoenix's tail is attached to a Snapper+.

How come no one want to talk about Early Access program?
It's kinda a big deal if they don't want to get down-voted early on.
I didn't think about it at the time but I'll definitely mention it now. Though they are monitoring this thread so they might already be aware.

I like Commando and Red Giant. Red Giant especially looks scary for an AW.
I'm surprised you didn't give Patriot a round chassis and make it a servo turret hammer. That one looks good but suspiciously like something you would build in stock.
Also the tiny treads look funny on Gammaraze. I think it would look better with wheels or big treads.

Building more Ironforge this weekend just for fun. I haven't really played it since the new weight limits were introduced (hence the weights in my first post in this thread). After seeing RedAce's March BOTM entry, I had to see if I could make a proper Ice Phoenix clone with two wings. Turns out I could. (I made a typo in the splash; the weight should be 597.7, not 797.7.) I had to use some eFFe glitching to attach the blades, which I know is frowned upon in Ironforge, but it's an artbot so oh well. That said, it's actually not terrible in combat. Better than Ice Phoenix, at least. Next I wanted to build something competitive. I was watching videos from Motorama on Youtube and was inspired by Vile Ant and Low Blow. Very powerful and good at hitting wheels, but it takes a long time to spin up and it loses its own wheels as often as the opponent. I tried adding some wheel guards but I can't get anything that doesn't look cobbled-together ugly. Still a pretty good bot though, and it can still maneuver and fight with only one wheel. Then I was inspired by Nyx with its lifting arm and wanted to build a 180-degree (or as close as RA2 can get) flipper. It actually works pretty well! It tends to be more flippy and less lifty than Nyx, but sometimes (often enough) it can do the full 180 degree body-slam. Unlike Nyx though, self-righting is a pain for some reason. Those extenders on the back are essential for tipping Nix back on its treads.

I have 1 question, I'm not sure if you can answer it, but I hope you can.
Is the damage model functionally identical to RA2?
I can answer this, because the answer is "I don't know." I only saw the bot lab and some arenas--no combat yet.

Hey everyone... so last Friday, I had the awesome opportunity to visit the Encore office, meet some of the devs, and see the game so far. Firebeetle came too--he's definitely looking forward to RAIII even though he's not very involved with RA2 these days, and he had some good ideas. I thought I'd pop in here and, as a trusted member of GTM, help allay some of the fears floating around. I can't give any details about the game unless I get it cleared with the dev team first, but I can say this: RAIII is in good hands. The team actually seems really enthusiastic about making a worthy successor to RA2. This is no quick cash-grab for the return of Battlebots and Robot Wars--they told me they actually started planning the game before the Battlebots reboot was announced. Without getting too specific, there are of course still some issues that need to be worked out before the final release, but nothing to cause major concern. If you have a question along the lines of "will X ruin the game", then the answer, based on what I've seen so far, is "no". In conclusion: Don't panic. RAIII is very promising and I'm looking forward to the release.

#1 and 2, I have no idea. I feel like #2 is supposed to be something but I can't for the life of me figure out what.
#3 looks cool and I like the use of those giant razors that are normally so unwieldy. Has Urjak started building Ironforge again?
#4 is probably actually the best bot here from a competitive standpoint. Do you vote for looks or effectiveness?
#5: Creative take on Ice Phoenix with only one wing. It looked weird at first but I get it now. I feel like it needs an absurdly long sword or something to go with the Sephiroth theme though.
#6 - did someone actually print out screenshots, make a collage, and take a photo of it? That's some dedication. Normally I try to disregard the splash when voting, but I feel like I should make an exception in this case... if only the bot was bigger and easier to see. And also not a semi-jokebot.

It can self-right with the JX if it tips onto its front (a common occurrence) but not if it's on its back. It needs the dedicated srimech for that.
Maybe if I moved the start angle back and BFE'd it for a 180 degree arc it wouldn't need a dedicated srimech, but then it couldn't hit bots that were under it.

Yeah, apparently you'll be able to trade all the way from red and blue to sun and moon through pokemon bank. Can't wait to trade through my glitch team from yellow.
As Red and Blue were recently released on Virtual Console, I think this statement only applies to those versions. The original cartridge versions would still be isolated by the Game Boy - Game Boy Advance barrier and I doubt they will make a new peripheral for the Game Boy that lets it connect to Bank. I'm curious what they'll do for this generation. At some point it seems like they'll have to either stop making new Pokemon, or "lock out" certain old Pokemon from new games, just because of the sheer amount of effort and data involved in animating close to 1000 3D models. And either solution will upset a lot of fans. In any case, looking at the new Pokemon and the yet-to-be-released Volcanion, the new games totally need to go with a full-blown steampunk theme. Main character with a top hat and brass goggles, airships and trains for transportation, the works.

It looks almost IRL, if the JX had more support on the sides.
I thought of that... I figured Diesector's hammers were set up like this so it should be OK. You wouldn't want to build a powerful pneumatic hammer like that IRL, but The Axecutioner's axe is pretty slow. Should I rebuild it? I'm already really strapped for weight (those wheelguards aren't for show, they're essential for stability) so supporting the JX might mean a total rebuild.

I like it but the asymmetry of the swords is bothering me. I would stick with the 2 swords and upgrade to bigger burst motors here. I would still consider 2 swords IRL but 3 is venturing into standard territory.
If you do go standard then you need a better wedge. The only reason Not Bushido was so wedgy in Throwback Throwdown was because of the perfectly smooth floor in the BBEANS arena.

Why aren't there more black guys in robot combat? Like the only guys I've seen is the dude with dreads in the Demolisher team and one dude in Robotica who had this cool ass bot that got beaten in the fight to the finish. Like wtf man, is this sh** like hockey or something?
Without getting too political, it requires a large amount of disposable income.
I've wondered the same thing. I think it has more to do with cultural differences. Robotics is a geek hobby and, at least as far as I can tell, there aren't as many black geeks in general. Like if you go into a game/comic store, it's mostly white people in there too. It used to be that there weren't very many women geeks either and so there weren't very many women in robot combat. But now that it's more "in" to be a woman and a geek, you see a bit more representation in the new Battlebots. Still male-dominated but it's better than it was. Blacks will get there eventually too, I expect.

Wow, thanks for doing this tournament so fast RedAce! Just watched almost the whole thing start to finish. Nuclear Arms Race had a pretty good run there. (That one OOTA on Not Bushido... ) I'm kind of curious to see NAR vs. ERM, but don't worry about it if you're done with grudge matches. (It would be a fun fight but I'm pretty sure ERM has the edge on stability.)

My bot for Elementos' Axe-ample tournament. Is this poor sportsmanship, or good strategy? Either way, I'm going with it, and the rest of you can have fun in the loser's bracket. It's not foolproof--occasional axe strikes will get past the catcher--but it's good enough to beat Ham-mer Sandwich, so it should be good enough to beat most IRL bots that come its way. It has 1 PC625 battery, normal NPC drive, and 5mm plastic armor. The axe-catcher is mounted on a slow mag snapper and doubles as a srimech so it can quickly self-right from any angle.
