General Support / Re: RA2 doesn't play nicely with gtx770?
« on: October 10, 2016, 06:39:56 AM »
What's exaclty not working?
I'd make sure that it's not just that copy of RA2(redownload RA2 from here and check if it's having problems), also setting compatibility mode to win 2k does reduce the crashing, there will be almost none except in DSL(where match crashes still happen once in a while).

At the same time, one could question the AI and pinning however.

Wonder how Termite's blade setup works, can you simply put stuff like that on axle extenders? it's nice that not the entire weapon broke off.
If you're going to do extra matches I'd like to have one against Blizzard, just for the destruction.

Tommib V. More armour, srimech gone, now powered by 2X Battlepacks.

(Image removed from quote.)
Looks nice, having a srimech is alright as well if you want(sometimes a bot can get stuck upside down, and it's also good when getting stuck on ramps), also you should use the side wedge pannels the other way around so they're close to the ground. Same for the front wedgelet pieces.

Discussion / Re: Is it time to give up on DSL 2.2 for DSL-S play?

>Mechadisks and Frenzyhams are the only broken components in 2.2
at least you're getting more than just one useable component, also hosts could simply ban those components.

I'd use the 45 degree connectors instead of the old stock angle connectors, will look better visually, as for wedges, if you want to have something I'd maybe try some 45 degree angle connectors on extenders or alternatively build a "spinner killer" wedge from a armor plate, wedge piece and side armor plates.

It's not IRL because the motors are stacked through each other.  Luckily, you have enough weight left over to widen the chassis enough to fit the motors in without overlapping.  I like the claw weapon.
Nah I think those are two NPC L(or R)'s which aren't stacked, see Jonzu's rammer on how to do it, basically something like this:
PP
PD
PD
DD

P and D both being NPC L or R's(used p and d because both shapes would work well)
If you look at the picture they're clearly stacked.
Could've sworn that at the time I edited my post there wasn't a reply. I only noticed the internal view later.

(also recommend to allow only one entry per person next time if it's a small tournament, dunno how many points you need to host bigger ones)

This originally had 24 robots, but was cut down due to rules.

Hence why I had 2 bots per person.
Yeah, I remember that, however at that time I think rules were still allowed to be changed. I see that you redid the splash, personally I was fine with the old one(and prefer that one a bit better as bots have more spaces between them) it just needed Wakkydude, DSC's and Badger's entries on the bottom.

Aluminium Armor? I haven't checked the pack yet but if that's a component addon, then it's definitely something that was needed.

Why did you have to upload it on such a site and not imgur or something? Takes forever for me to load if it ever loads it that is.
cuz upurs was the image hosting service we all used way back when. And it loads fine for me. :p
On that day it didn't load for me, now loads fine however, dunno what was up(was wondering if it was one of those websites that's only really accessable from the US and has terribly slow speeds outside of it)

1. I don't really get the bot, just looks like some drums and spinners put together, also blends too much with the splash
2. the title sums it up well, great concept but sadly doesn't look as great as it could, I can imagine that the creator spent some time into it, trying to get it great but in the end couldn't and decided to enter it, has some nice references in it and it looks like he tried to get a good splash done.
3. If it wasn't for this entry, I wouldn't question if 2 was Thrack(nice mix of Mr Bones+thatVS), wouldn't mind if it was BOTM again.
4. Wait what?! I hope this is a mouth.
5. Looks like a interesting bot but sadly the splash isn't that great and the bot could also need some color/other visual effects.
6. I know the meme and it's really nice, however it's only that, nothing more to the bot and the splash definitely could've had more, or at least not be blurry like that. Also didn't know that colored extenders were allowed(2 used the plastic extenders, very clever builder idea)

So if I understand it right from the splash.. #2 has the skull inside the pumpkin.. then the skull pops out of the pumpkin via piston?

If so thats some really cool attention to detail.. id imagine the pumpkin itself was challenging enough..

Props to whoever did it.
As far as I understand(based on the insides description) it's a burst piston that pops up like that, Retooled sadly only has bursts no linear actuators or servo pistons.

Think it's between two and three.

[don't] [watch] [this]

I'll go fix Wen vs Kill now so Badger doesn't off himself or something.

Also 09090901 you don't have the graphics fix? Open RA2.cfg and set GraphicDetail=0, chassis will no longer have glitched up textures and trov chassis glitch bots don't crash the game.

Only 3 shameless reentries, not bad.

P sure Thrackerzod didn't make Hypershocked though, because someone else entered it onto gtmrw, and I'm sure Thracker wouldn't sink to a re-entry. :p
Yep, saw that one earlier this day, no idea how that name mix happened.

I'm a bit surprised how fast this started(also recommend to allow only one entry per person next time if it's a small tournament, dunno how many points you need to host bigger ones)
hoped I could fix Hypershocked a bit and add a front/top armor plate for protection, during GTM:RW the link just fell out way too many times. But oh well, at least a problem with the motors got fixed(no longer using weapon ones).

Were the 3 rumble bots featured in the splash before? think it's best to have them all in it.

It's alright, still fun to watch, also set range to 99 for spinners so they spin up at the start instead of only after touching the enemy.
Wonder where you got that spooky music from.

I love the design of Trump's Wall. It's full of strength and greatness.
Originally had something like that as well, however it just didn't work out as well as the body kept swinging around and keeping the wheels on ground was difficult at times, didn't help that after one or two minutes it started to glitch around and have odd drive problems, scrapped concept in the end(another was to make a stinger like bot with a roller on front)

Thrack definitely has the most orginal entry but I don't expect it to go far, wonder if he didn't get any other bot working in Retooled.

Just make me Admin. I have lots of free time. :)
Sure, as long as MLP stuff won't be everywhere after that.

While I think it's a bit harsh to ask Trov to stop, I do think that giving As and Yugi mod would be good, they've both been very friendly, helpful and polite(not something I can say about every member) all the time.
Title to the thread is pretty misleading tbh, since what AS is saying is to make someone else a forum admin who's active that can do the simple stuff of reorganizing sections, adding botm to the main page, and etc which I agree would bw good. Trov himself would still stay as the main admin top dog then too so I don't think there is that much of a risk of trying it out as he could always revert it back to before.

While I think it's a bit harsh to ask Trov to stop
thread title is just me memeing, I'm not all too creative with thread titles

Wasn't directly addressing As, more people in general(even through one can question how serious they are when they say that).
As for new admins, both Craaig and Kill do have their pros and cons, and upgrading a advanced user would maybe be a step too much? But hey, whatever this community thinks is right and which members actually want to do it/have time for it.
I thought you left my dude

Ye now I think about it I have no idea how Geice isn't an AU. For what it's worth, I think the best thing to do here is promote Yugi and AS to Moderators, and increase mod power so we don't have to rely on Admins unless something on the backend has gone awry.
I did, just dropping by once in a while, doubt I completely stop playing RA2 anytime soon. Probably should write a more accurate post as some things have changed now.
Others have mentioned how there are already enough moderators, but yeah if it 's actually possible to give mods some of the admin tools(or alternatively make something new between mod and admin) and make sure that there's still an admin online once in a while(so stuff won't be inaccessable) would work very well.

Modifications / Re: IRL Components - Pack One: Extenders
« on: October 03, 2016, 12:52:59 PM »
I would carefully look at how big the pack would be in total as the other things do add up(then again armor plates are in a different category) another thing I was thinking about recently(we talked about it before and on possible ways on doing the menus), was to group it by color type, so lime, green and cyan for example would be in the same category, and so would light normal and dark blue.
