Site News and Feedback / Re: rep
« on: March 31, 2016, 06:42:39 AM »
keep it, let everyone past Heavyweight + colored names use it. Done.

If not the above, then remove it.

That, and maybe reset the reputation of certain members if they are not properly represented by it (ACAMS -100? What even?) if we want to make it a more serious affair. That, and remove certain member's priviledges to it. If you wanted a total reform for some reason then you could totally reset rep but that's probably not going to be necessary.

acams's rep is obviously a joke.

Massed Flies is only really worth anything on Sniper, it's among the worst effects otherwise. Suppose the hat itself is pretty good though.

Only have 2 unusuals myself since I'm not a collector, and I've quit comp TF2 for the time being. Green Energy Texas Ten Gallon and Aces High Glasgow Great Helm.

Strange question, but does anybody know what happened to Satan's Mutt, the UK featherweight built as a part of a challenge for the Gadget Show?

BTW Robot Wars Wiki is either in the process of an update to include pilot or is fully updated, so avoid any new articles to avoid spoilers. Should be common sense but I didnt realise a bot was new and got slightly spoiled so thought i would mention it.

Robot Wars Wiki have a zero tolerance stance on spoilers, so I'd assume it's safe to use it, unless a troll/unaware user posts spoilers, which will quickly be deleted.

I'd strongly recommend avoiding Instagram in particular if you don't want any spoilers. I have been told also about Twitter containing a few, but I haven't seen any there in particular myself.

Too powerful for the arena in general, or just too powerful for the arena without a roof?

And have any spinners been accepted at all? Not asking for names, just wondering if all spinners are prohibited, or just some.

Could work, although they're more interested in making entertaining TV than being fair.

I know Robot Wars has had a history of controversial backstage decisions, but I don't think they'd want to cheat their largest proportion of roboteers (those from the Roaming Robots/Robots Live scene) with something like that straight away. That could mean droves of disgruntled, experienced competitors walking from the next series, which I think was the killing blow to Series 7 (as well as the horrible timing schedule on Five).

Of course, it could be that the health and safety isn't 100% prepared for spinners, or perhaps it could be for an entirely different reason. But that's my theory.

I can understand why they're making restrictions with spinners for the very first series, even if the health and safety is 100% in check. It's unfair for a lot of the robots who have been built in the UK scene with lighter armour, only to get absolutely demolished by a returning class of robot because of a sudden rule change. I think spinners should be reintroduced at a later date, where teams are more prepared to fight against them.

DSL TC Showcases / RTC's DSL Showcase
« on: November 19, 2015, 07:26:23 PM »
Hey! Have a few off days and little better to do, so I decided to use the free time to stick some stuff together in DSL.

Here's Neutralizer, an SNS inspired by Haymaker from BBEANS 4. I've shrunk the chassis to improve the armour from Haymaker's Plastic 1 to Titanium 1. I also wasn't entirely fond of the hammers, so I used DSL disc extensions coated in beater bars both as armour for the discs, and to generally increase my damage output. Possible changes include the rearranging of the beaters (although I feel the current positioning gives them the best coverage and adaptability) and possibly using weapon slaves instead of discs (smaller targets, but far more fragile).

This could have the potential to be huge for the combat robot community with the advancements in gaming of the last 10 years, but could also unfortunately get abandoned and be forgotten about during any stage of the development process. I guess we'll have to wait and see, but as zaku pointed out, it's best to be cautiously optimistic.
