Still more than likely Nary will fail to send something.
Will you open it up to second entries? 83

I expected nothing less from you.
Armour on hinges is pretty garbage as you found out. 84

If I'm counting right I think it's somewhat underpowered. Love the design though. Any reason you chose backlash wheels over hypnos? I can't recall the difference.

Turns out that the "HW" SnS was actually a CW. I think I built it for the CW Clash Cubes that was planned at some point.
Here's a shell spinner inspired by Urjak: 87

I wanted an arena with OOTA potential so that flippers would be viable. How about one of the BBEANS arenas? 89

Looks pretty decent so long as opponents can actually rest on top of the weapons. Not sure about the wedge setup either. I feel like small wedges on skirt hinges weren't that good.

Could do with something protecting that chassis from popups.
Maybe remove those DSL bars? 91

Before I start building again I thought I would do a bot dump clearout of unfinished projects.
Evolution of Cologne since the last one I showcased. I guess Firestorm flippers had more HP or something? Idk what I was thinking. Upgraded LW flipper Slightly over the top HW flipper. No idea if this is better than 4 JXs but the theory back then was that multiple BSGs were better at flipping. Some SnSs from just when they started becoming hated by everyone. Including my idea for a flipper that used angled skirts to flip opponents. Didn't work at all though. 93
DSL TC Showcases / Re: Naryar's DSL showcase - The manliest, most baguette showcase of all« on: March 02, 2019, 03:41:19 PM »
That's about as flawed as I would expect from a MW as you already said. I was very much expecting a HW from my suggestion.
Probably worth rotating the hammer motors so they don't stick out? 94

"Taking Google's DeepMind AI" is way beyond the scope of this.
We're talking about a simple set of logic that takes the available inputs from the game and outputs commands to the robot. This should be possible in any basic language. Miniscript seems perfectly adequate. I would have to have a play around before really commenting too much. Maybe you could create a little demo with 2 simple robots that can drive, turn and activate some kind of weapon. Then if you expose arena/bot parameters as readable and motor/weapons as writeable we can try it out. I'm a software engineer , although I'm usually working with C/C++, I should be able to give some useful feedback. 96

I echo what Badger says. I imagine you can hide those values from the user.
The other disputed factor in RA2 was movements that were not "human reproducible" along the lines of rapidly switching a motor on and off to save power or doing fancy things such as meltybrain. Sounds like you have a pretty good grasp of how it should we to though. I have very little preference for either language. What sort of math libraries do they include? I imagine that might be a factor in more complicated routines. 97
Robot Rumble 2.0 / Re: Robot Rumble 2.0 - Robot Combat Simulator - Under Development« on: February 28, 2019, 10:21:54 AM »
How much freedom are we giving?
Will it be a set of defined functions which we edit the contents of? Or will there be a lot more available? The issue with RA2 AI is that you could modify parameters which were unrelated to movement/weaponry and make instant win AIs. I almost feel like a drag and drop overlay might be more intuitive from a basic programming level. 98
Off-Topic Discussion / Re: ra2« on: February 23, 2019, 01:30:53 PM »
Yeah, peak RA2 for me was back in the DSL 2.1 days even with the whole Flail-pocalypse. There feels like less of a sense of accomplishment winning an IRL tournament than a standard one as half the boys you face are really designed to win.
I feel like a weird generation of RA2. Too late to be one of the "old guard" but no longer recent either. Bring back competitive building. 99
Stock Showcases / Re: Inf. - The Rebirth« on: January 18, 2019, 02:38:40 PM »
I don't see how that fixes much. As Sage said, without good HSs the meta just shifts to wedge wars. Popups are so good because they both have a chance against HS and tend to be easier to give a good wedge.
Also the LW rules will just get you a 9HS anyway. 100
