Yes Reier, the Pause/Break button on your keyboard.

You know, I actually did this some time ago when I was trying to effe an HP Z-Tec on my bot, but every time I did, the axle was like 10cm off center. So I just paused the game when the bust motor was at the and of the arc and hovered the Z-Tec on the place I wanted to and then let the burst motor settle and it was done.

Yeah, I've had that problem before but usually deleting the motor and resetting it helps. You can sometimes tell if the axle is off center by enabling the collision boxes with f12. I checked if the pause glitch worked that way by effeing the HPZ motor on a burst motor on a previous design I was having trouble with, and I've had no problems with the motor (so far). I think pausing during garage and back pretty much solves all effeing problems, I've tried it with different things I had trouble effeing as well, like extenders.

*EDIT: Wait, ssg were you able to add components while the game was paused? I've tried doing this and it does not let me add components if the game is paused.

**EDIT: Nevermind, you can add components by switching to and from another tab back to components with the game paused.

This glitch works every time, I've tried it on 5 separate occasions, all worked perfectly. If anyone still has trouble setting your maces aligned, try attaching all of your maces you will use at once before doing garage and back, that is how I attach my maces.

And... for those of you still having trouble finding the pause key, it's located near the "num lock" light.

I have found a solution to getting maces to line up perfectly after effeing them, or rather any component that might not line up during effeing. I stumbled upon this glitch while using the pause button to see what effects it had in all sorts of situations. Here are the results of standard effeing, compared to using the pause glitch to effe the maces:

STANDARD EFFEING:

Almost none of the maces are lined up properly.

PAUSE EFFEING:

All of the maces are lined up perfectly.

I've tested this glitch multiple times with different bots and it works every time. Here is how to do it:

1. After you are done placing your maces using the effe glitch, pause before you go to garage. (make sure f12 isn't enabled)

2. After you go to garage, go back to components without unpausing.

3. Unpause the game, and press f12, spin up your motors, etc... The maces should be aligned perfectly.

4. For every new set of maces you want to add, repeat step 1.

5. When all of your maces are added, exit the bot editor.

7. Unpause the game, and try loading your bot. It might take a while to load, depending on the bot.

*This glitch will NOT work to re-align maces that have already been added previously. They will appear to be aligned, then reset to their original positions once you load without pause. To make the glitch work, you have to do it by adding new maces.

**Also, for those of you who are tired of waiting 2-3 minutes to go from garage and back or to load your bot in the first place, press pause before doing either. With pause on, it literally takes 2-5 seconds and then you can simply unpause after coming to the desired screen.

Hey guys, I've come here after searching on google for a while :D. I'm an old skool RA2 player, and have had it for years, I recently got hold of it again and I am here asking for advice, I've never patched/used addons in RA2 before now, which is why I would like some help. I'm running version 1.20 and quite experienced at making bots.
I would like to know at where to start at putting addons and patches to improve game play.:D
I play LAN games quite often, so another question would be: If I patch all the computers in the house can I stil play LAN games, or do the patches affect all multiplayer aspects?

Thanks guys.

Cougar

If you patch all of the computers in the house, you will still be able to play lan games. I haven't personally tried DSL yet, but I heard it's good. to improve GAMEPLAY, I would consider downloading the starcore v3 ai pack, which is a pack full of elite bots that put up a better fight than the original stock bots. Welcome to the forums.

EDIT: Here are some of the links to get you started.

https://gametechmods.com/Robot_Arena2/AI_Packs/Starcore/StarcoreAIPackV3.rar (starcore ai pack)
https://gametechmods.com/?do=DSL_Install_Tut_Download (for DSL, cd version of ra2)
https://gametechmods.com/?do=DSL_DL_Install_Tut_Download (for DSL, downloaded version of ra2)

Also, if you've only done realistic building, here is a guide of glitches you can take advantage of to become a better builder: http://beetlebros.gametechmods.com/ra2techs.htm

Why isn't the heading working? Actually I'm not even sure if I set it in the right direction, it's supposed to be facing towards the motors... not sure if that helps, though.

Also Starcore, I would be more than thankful if you could help get the AI working.

I know this is off topic, but hey Tankcat, do you have a grudge against InfiniteInertia?

Not a personal grudge but a bot-building grudge

the wheel base of your HW is to narrow for it to any good against even old AC even though your weapons are set up better than old AC.

How is the wheel base too narrow? I'm able to drive new tankcat fairly well, it's stable as long as you don't hold down the turn keys for more than a second.

Thought I might as well make a showcase.

Here are some shots of the first bot I ever built 5 weeks ago, my original HS Tankcat:

27 Triple stacked razors, 3 hpz weapon motors, 2 black batteries and an hpz drive. I think it was pretty good for my first attempt at ever building something.

Finally, after browsing the forums for a few weeks and finding some building tricks out on my own, I came up with my second bot. My new and improved 36 mace HS Tankcat:

36 Triple stacked maces, 4hpz weapon motors, 2 black batteries and an hpz drive.

EDIT: Here is tankcat from another angle, showing all 4 tribars:

Existing Games / What games would you call "legendary"
« on: May 03, 2009, 07:12:49 PM »
1. Chrono Trigger (Best storyline out of any game I have ever played. Amazing timeless music, graphics were amazing for the snes generation.)

2. Pokemon for GBC Red/Blue (Best replay value, especially for the limitations the gameboy imposed. Glitches really gave this game it's luster though, Missingno. and similiar glitches opened up a whole new level of things to discover.)

3. Final Fantasy X (At the time, it had revolutionary graphics and was the best looking RPG, plus a great story line, 100+ hours of game play, and a unique battle system.)

Countless others, none stick out in my mind right now.

I'll do it if you want.

BTW- your maces confused me for a sec haha. would probably be better facing downward.

Thanks sage, it would be awesome if you could AI my bot.

And yeah, I wanted to have the maces facing down but for some reason 1 out of 3 arms on the tribar would not accept a mace on the 20cm extender position closest to the tribar arm, no matter how I turned it. That's why my first bot uses blades, couldn't get maces on there.

As of now, the maces face the direction they spin and I was able to add all of them, so I figured it was a fair trade-off. Only thing to watch out for would be low clearance weapons.

EDIT: I'll just throw you a note on YIM and send you the bot.

Calm down! Im going to take screenshots from the vid and post them here.
Edit: Actually, im going to take screenshots from the game, the pictures were not good quality when taken from the vid.

Garage and back, and you should have this:
I think I did something wrong because this isnt as centered as I have seen...

The vid is exactly the same. but it only uses 3 20CM extenders and the setup is less favorable if you are going for invertibility.

Yes, the 3 20CM setup is less favorable, however there is a setup using only a 40cm extender and T extender that is more desirable AND more invertible:

I have pictures to show the setup in order:

1. Swing the extender out using axle load glitch:

2. Delete 40cm extender and then add 40cm extender to swing it out of the bot:

3. Make sure your extender it outside of the bot, like so:

4. Add "T" extender using effe glitch to give yourself enough room to add a motor:

5. Finished setup, very compact:

That's pretty much everything. Make sure to attach the T extender using the effe glitch to give you enough room to add your motor. I find this setup to be the best, as it is most compact, completely centered, AND uses 2 extenders, opening up another "rule of 7" layer for weapons. Also, I would've replied sooner if I had known you had trouble viewing the video. I haven't really been checking the thread.

I think he means your AI bindings.

I figured that out a little bit ago, now I'm reading up on a tutorial on how to AI my bot...

12 Blades and 24 Maces. See?

Actually in that picture it was 9 blades and 27 maces, just because I couldn't get the maces balanced correctly except for one arm. Now I have all 36 maces balanced in my new updated bot.

And yes, I called the blades razors by accident.

Don't worry, AC2 is in development and will seriously kick ass.

If you want to send it to me with bindings I can record a 5 match series.

What do you mean with bindings? All my controls wired?
If so, I can send it to you in a little bit, I just have to adjust a few things first.

Why did the black man with a peg leg cross the road?

Because the pedestrian crosswalk light was green, and his destination was on the other side.
