Hypnodiscs spinner was mounted in tinfoil compared to PP3D, it's just that Hypnodisc stored less energy than a modern featherweight robot which made it too weak to really break itself.
people should stop comparing modern spinners to Hypnodisc please yes 88

That's my best response besides the typical "it was a sideshow antweight rumble 16 years ago and doesn't matter". 89

Robots Showcase / Re: Somebody is going to build a robot« on: March 05, 2017, 07:00:18 AM »
I never really updated here so I'm back to brag. Gold Team Rules! brought three robots to Motorama, 2 30lb full combat FWs built and driven by me, and a 30lb Sportsman built by my roommate.
![]() From left to right, HUGE, Duck Yeah, and BEESS??? Sorry for massive photo. Huge is a weird as hell vertical spinner, which ran through the winner's bracket before double-losing to MegatRON in the finals to take 2nd overall in the FW division. 4-2 final record. Duck Yeah is the original robot, and went 3-2 after losing its first round fight. It also had nearly every wedge I brought blown up, and the disc blown up, so it's back to the drawing board with the rest of the chassis. Not sure what I'll do with it but maintaining two 30lbers solo isn't the best time. And finally, BEESS?? is the realization of the idea of "I wonder if I can build the whole thing inside an aluminum tube?". It ran through the bracket until hitting the big, excellent, shuffling sawbot Pitter Patter in the semifinals, then fought its way back into the finals against Pitter Patter and lost again. 4-2. So yeah, Motorama was kind to us. 91

Honestly stock has been "dying" forever, so I agree with Sage. But the meta has stagnated IIRC. Also RWRA2 was never really supposed to be a game to compete in so much as an incredible standalone mod. It's been on my to do list to download and change over all the bots to normal controls so I can play with them. Unless someone has already done that hopefully? (hint hint) Also, was there another update recently? I remember reading something about that.

To explain M. R. Speed Squared's name, you have to look and see that there is a period after m and r, so it wasn't supposed to be Mr. Also, Mass*radius*speed^2 is the equation for the linear kinetic energy of a rotating body so it's basically the equation used to find how hard their disc will hit at the tip. I like that name a lot. Although the usual equation uses velocity rather than speed.
