Real Robotics Discussion / Re: ANT WEIGHT DISTRUCTION ARENA
« on: June 01, 2010, 02:41:22 PM »
you do realize its going to cost around 1000 bucks to to build an 8X8. i've priced it out before, you need 4-4X8 sheets of 1/4" poly, they start at around 190 each plus your shipping so figure 800. and you figure around 120 feet of steel witch comes in 20 foot sections witch you need to cut to 12-8' and 4-4' and your also going to need various  fasteners, plywood for floor and roof, and whatever kind of electronics you want to run, lights, and other miscellaneous stuff. its not just a Sunday build its takes lots of planning and funding

ok heres a list of the parts i use on my ants, with success i might add =P

(2) Fingertech Spark gearmotors for my drives 20:1 for quickness http://www.fingertechrobotics.com/proddetail.php?prod=ft-spark16-xxx

(2) BaneBots 3-9 amp speed controllers, great little controller and if it should ever get damaged they will fix it for 15$ rather then you having to by a brand new one http://banebots.com/pc/ELECTRONICS/BB-0309

Turnigy 1900Kv brushless outrunner, very powerful and cheap motor  http://www.hobbycity.com/hobbycity/store/uh_viewItem.asp?idProduct=2110&Product_Name=TR_28-26_16A_1900Kv_Brushless_Outrunner

and turnigy 18amp speed controller also great for its price http://www.hobbycity.com/hobbycity/store/uh_viewItem.asp?idProduct=4312&Product_Name=TURNIGY_Plush_18amp_Speed_Controller

and i use a common sense rc 7.4v 800mah lipo simply because there rather cheap and can go two fights if i need to http://cgi.ebay.com/Common-Sense-RC-800mAh-7-4V-Eflite-Blade-CX2-CX3-Lipo_W0QQitemZ180482353480QQcmdZViewItemQQptZRadio_Control_Parts_Accessories?hash=item2a05962948

and i use a GWS transmitter and receiver system, but anything off this page will work great for you http://www.fingertechrobotics.com/products.php?cat=Radio+Equipment

Happy building

just though i would up date the status of my bots and stuff

the new beetleweight version of Ripto is comming along nicely, all i really have left to do is build the weapon assembly

i have also been rebuilding the fangus's's's's, right now i have the frame for 2.2 and 3.0, 2.2 just being a slightly upgraded version of 2.1 and 3.0 haveing a bigger drum/beater and shuffling system

and last but not least i have do some work on crim my fairy, i had it up and running like this but im redesigning and rebuilding

its just 15 pound combat, and the only reason its more destruction is because you have people who have never built verses teams that have been refining their building techniques for years. you end up with alot of fights between the brick sh** house drums and driving sheet metal boxes

roulette - what kind of bot are you planning?

that depends on where it is. i plan on going to robogames 2010 with a fleet and im also trying to get ready for moto, i should be taking 4 bots. i'll try to post up some progress here soon.

i don't have any plans on building at that weight class but if its close i might go as a spectator

ya the original version was a very fast and smooth o-ring tank dive but it was 4oz over weight so now it shuffles, takes away all the speed but has a massive intimidation factor
