DSC vs. 123 - BEATER BARS EVERYWHERE! Not to mention friendly fire. One of the disadvantages of multibots. SSG vs. LLB - Sooo many close calls... especially in round 1, Disk Hammer is just dancing on the edge of the arena, taunting Minesweeper to try and come closer. For a while I thought it might stay in long enough to win on points. Also woohoo this tournament is picking up now that there's no rounds with 8 fights left. My fight's coming up... pretty confident for this one.

If it's too slow streaming then just click on the link under the video to download it to your hard drive.
^ What I do because I'm too lazy to download the plugin into chrome.
Right click on the URL and pick Save Target As. Should've specified that... I'll go do it now.

Round 1 is up! (Man G.K. you're fast; were you stalking the Who's Online screen and saw me in here?) Now you may be looking at the video file and thinking "HOLY CARP THAT'S HUGE" but keep in mind that this includes all 16 fights rolled into one... if you do the math it comes out to less than 4 MB per fight, so not that bad. If it's too slow streaming then just click on the link under the video to download it to your hard drive. There were definitely some surprises. Some fights where almost nothing happened, but some others will result in elimination... (it's possible to be eliminated in the first round if you only have 2 wheels and you lose both).

Calvin & Hobbes As much as I like the tourney name there are some issues... for example, how do you define "invincible" or "1-hit KO weapons"? I could make a component with 1,000,000 HP and 1,000,000 fracture and it would technically not be invincible... just very strong. Also, 1-hit KO weapons are entirely dependent on what bot you're facing. Regular old stock razor tips can be 1-hit KO weapons against the right opponent. Or I could make a reasonable custom component with 1000 HP and 300 DP... but make it 0.00001 kgs so I can stack over 9,000 of them in the front. Suddenly they become an almost invincible, arguably 1-hit KO weapon. IMO there are two ways to do this: -Regulate which custom components are allowed (for example, FB's, Lu-Tze's, Dummy's, and Darkrat's but no others). Don't allow anyone to make their own custom components. Or, -Regulate nothing. Make it a contest to see who can make the absolute cheapest bot that is impossible to beat. Someone makes a weapon with 9 billion damage, HP, and fracture? No problem. In this case, you would probably want to keep the tournament very small (4 or 8 bots). Also limit the number of components to 200 or something so you don't get bots with thousands of components that lag the game to oblivion.

Hey Joe you know you don't actually need to skin all the components invisible right? Just shove this in the arena py:
def Introduction(self): for comp in xrange(1, plus.describe(0).count(" ")): plus.show(0,comp,0) for comp in xrange(1, plus.describe(1).count(" ")): plus.show(1,comp,0) yield 0
That will make everything except the chassis on both bots invisible before the match starts. (The chassis can also be made invisible if you change the first 1 to a 0.)

couldn't you just replace WBC wheel's GMF with the traffic cones?
wat You mean replace the txt? If you did that it would no longer work as a wheel... there are two options here: Make it rubber and do damage but not work as a wheel, or make it do damage and work as a wheel but not be rubber.

The weapons line is used if you want your bot to switch to rammer tactics after certain components break (usually weapons). It also appends a tactic called "Shove" which aims to push opponents into hazards. In order to get the ID's of your weapons you need apanx's exporter: https://gametechmods.com/Robot_Arena2/Tools/apanx_bot_exporter.zip Just put whatever ID's you want into 'weapons' and when those break the bot will change tactics. Bindings.pyc is a compressed file that is created automatically whenever you modify Bindings.py. You don't need to do anything with it.

The traffic cone is a weapon though; piercing and concussion won't work on a wheel (in fact I think the WBC wheel already has piercing and concussion). You need to give it material = metal(somevalue>0) to make a wheel do damage. The only drawback is that the wheel will no longer be "rubber" and will take damage from hitting the wall and floor. Grip will be unaffected.

I don't know how big your center obstacle is, but I'm guessing it's bigger than 2x2 meters. That's where you went wrong. The POV's don't define the edges of the hazard (collision lines do that), they define the path the AI should take around the hazard--therefore, the POV square should be bigger than the collision line square, or else the AI will hit the hazard before they try to drive around it. Depending on the size of your hazard a cushion of 1-3 meters should be sufficient.

It has the same driving issues as Bisector 1, but worse. The much more powerful hammer doesn't quite make up for it. It's good if I'm driving it though.

lol external control board. ...Actually that's a really good idea considering that Power components are indestructible. It would be even better if you could put a big battery there (but I don't think you can).

:O That has exactly the same weapon as your NQRW1 bot doesn't it? How did you shave 150 kgs? Looks ridiculously powerful, but I bet it's unstable.

one thing though...I played by the rules and went with the 68kg battery.
Multi extenders, ant batteries and control boards may also be used.

It's a good thing SM ditched the one-replica-per-person rule or else russian roulette would've ruined my day with his Beta rammer (I didn't know he built it until I'd already built my NQRW bot). Now I'm going to ruin his with a Beta HS. (Yeah that's right, it's ON RR!) FYI, the Beta hammers are 22 kgs, and they have 20,000 HP and 3.2 concussion. Those weird motors have 50 speed and 70 torque. And the stabilizers are invincible because they attach to the baseplate. Also, Silver Lining is surprisingly stable and self rights relatively quickly. The only problem is that all those awesome components are so heavy I had to use 1mm plastic armor to fit it all on... and while the chassis is quite well protected, stray hits can still get through, and it can't take stray hits well.

There's no saying you have to fight fire with fire (or BFE with BFE, in this case). If it's lulzy enough, people will vote for it even if it doesn't use AAM/BFE.

Well that was humiliating. I knew it would be a long shot to win but I thought I could break SOMETHING. Good job RR; OnLive is definitely better than RA3. If only Bisector II worked as AI...

I suppose it's safe to show my would-be entry then... This thing can do over 9000 damage and it can easily 2-hit KO Pon2n (one hit to break the shell, one hit to kill the chassis). If only the AI would work properly it would be awesome... I'll see if I can build something a little bit more ordinary for this now that the thrusters aren't allowed.

SOOO close... Well both times I lost it was against one of the two finalists, so that's saying something.
