Modifications / RA2GE Awesome Patch Release Information!

@ Urjak - If things still don't go well after you reinstalled, simply try skipping the whole season altogether. It should start working, im looking into it now... Tell me if it works.

Edit: I have recently played thorugh the ??? Tournament and have found no crashing. This was one of the most unstable tournies so if this one works, I know the others will. Reinstall and follow the readme carefully!

Made a slight error... the Teams folder is corrupted ( has random 'test' teams) which could crash your game.

Simply Download this fix and delete your current 'Teams' folder, then extract this file into your directory. After you play it, you should have only one team.

Teams folder bug fix 1.2(only 573KB) - Updated to let you save bots in a new team...

My Aplologies.

The extracted pack has much less CODEMASTERS in it than the Awesome Patch. Meaning that it will give you a better chance at recieving some new arenas, backgrounds, components, etc. As i said in my RA2GE thread, the Awesome Patch has 80-90% more unlockables and 69 codes all together (this is really the number of all the codes... I did not plan it that way) as opposed to the extracted version which has around 5 or 6.

The Awesome Patch also has a more detailed splash page and more 'knickknacks' such as the CodeJournal.

I am wondering if I can recieve some help in getting my new AI pack onto the AI Pack section of gametechmods. I used the file uploader and recieved this message after 35 minutes of waiting...

Warning: move_uploaded_file(/tmp/phpq6hkW6) [function.move-uploaded-file]: failed to open stream: No such file or directory in /home/.monsieur/gametechmods/gametechmods.com/includes/zipraruploader.php on line 45

Warning: move_uploaded_file() [function.move-uploaded-file]: Unable to move '/tmp/phpq6hkW6' to 'uploads/files/RA2GE Awesome Patch.rar' in /home/.monsieur/gametechmods/gametechmods.com/includes/zipraruploader.php on line 45
There was an error uploading the file, please try again!

Does anyone know how to resolve this issue? Thanks for replies!

Yay <3 Barbie's back....

Hmm, 26 entrants (excluding late comers)? That's actually a pretty decent tourney. I feel like my bot is going to be the only one sporting tank treads however... I also hope that my bot lasts 30 secs+.

NEW UPDATE! THE AWESOME PATCH FOR RA2GE IS FINALLY COMPLETE!

The long awaited patch is finally finished! Check the first post to download and experience the difference! Some other things included are as follows:

The Code Journal (v.1.0)

Got Microsoft Excel? Then put it to use! The Code Journal is an Excel file that will help you manage, store, and keep track of any codes that you are to run into. Simply follow the instructions, click, and type in the codes you come across! Better than just writing them down on paper in my opinion.

More CODEMASTERS

As I stated in my first post, there is about 80-90% more Unlockables within the Awesome Patch. Meaning that there is a new code almost every time you play! But remember, only the winners of the tourneys can get a chance to get the codes!

Stages... Stages... Stages... Time Warp?

Unlike the standard Robot Arena 2, users will advance through different levels of RA2GE called stages. As you advance through the stages, you will eventually be faced with more challenges. You are also able to switch between stages at will, that is, if you could find the right codes to do so.

Arena Blending

Just as the name implies, in the world of RA2GE, you can automatically 'blend' the .tga files of two arenas (or more in some cases). When you play back-to-back exhibition matches with your newly unlocked arenas, you can sometimes swap the colors of similar items of those arenas (saw blades, hammers, etc). Giving you an interesting new arena skin altogether! And if you thought that that wasn't enough, that blend will last until you restart the game, allowing the opportunity for even more arena fun!

Tutorials

To avoid being stumped on trying to learn the basics on the features of RA2GE, one can instead access the gigafrost website to download a tutorial or two. Each tutorial will be in either flash or .txt format to feed your hunger of learning the know-how of things like using Unlockables to simply changing an Arena skin.

Time for Updates! The Update Link

Need the latest for your RA2GE when things get boring? Click on 'The Update Link' in your RA2GE folder and then on 'See if I have any Updates' to connect to the Updates Link on the gigafrost homepage. Sometimes you will gain access to new components, arenas, etc. that you wouldn't find on my page through browsing, as well as new bug fixes, special CODEMASTERS and extras. The Update Link is only available through the Awesome patch.

I hope you all have fun playing as much as I had creating the RA2GE Awesome Patch! Enjoy!

FAQs on things such as the Unlockable System, how to get Unlockables, etc. will be put up on the RA2GE website. www.gigafrost.webs.com. I made a recent one on how to get Unlockables but for some reason it got erased.

Summary of the unlockable system for now: You play an event (tournament), you win first place, you read the 'you win' message and write down the code it gives you. Then you exit out of RA2GE and go into the My Unlockables Folder of its directory and type in the code to the corresponding CODEMASTER. Don't expect it to give you a new code every time you play however, that would be boring :)

@ Death: RA2GE is made for the original version of RA2. You probably could hack it to work alongside DSL, as duh said, but I would make a back up just in case you mess something up.

-extra note- RA2GE Awesome Patch will be released today/tonight. Working on some pics...

Update: Download link to the extracted version on RA2GE is up. I decided to make a link early. Both Rar and Zip files await you. I tried gametech's uploader but it just was too much for it... oh well, Enjoy! (at least until the patch is up there too)

There is also a way to create animated JPEGS (credit given to RFSHQ team/goose). I think it would be more conveinent for you in the sense that they have a wider range of 'compatibility' in games and use less KBs, but I don't know if it could be used with python...

If there only was a way to create animated .tga files...
