I remember Tankorporated, but Shower Dough sounds only vaguley familiar. Honestly, I really only can recall Jet-Speed as a builder with tons of promise. And we didn't just lose up-and-comers either. Well established guys like Avenger and Bot-Reactor were also lost in the crash. It even did in the waning careers of some legends like eFFeeMMe.

As for the kick in the nuts, it really was, although we all kinda knew something was coming. Forum speeds were plummeting, and navigation was almost a chore so we all suspected something was up. The thing was, there was nothing we could do to stop the plug from being pulled.

Come to think of it, Scrap, JD and I all arrived at around the same time (I think).

Little do you fools know, the picture of Sage you have seen was mere moments after he had finished shaving with his lawnmower. Within the hour the beard was back.

I'd rather see Naryar's cheaty armour win than any spinning razor spam.

And what did I say? LWs are damn unpredictable. And I suck at them xD
Oh well, Wings deserved the win. Good wedges and high-DP weapons are pretty much the key to any gut ripper, and he looks to have both. And there's still the losers bracket :D

Since Sage has showcased his bot that he should be using, and he's not online right now, you allow him to send that bot in his showcase as soon as he can. Technically, he does have his bot built before the deadline, and you know what it is. It would be a shame if he had to miss out on this tourney after building for it.

EDIT: it seems that you're reading my mind xD

No. :D
Sad. When I was in high school, my director had a sound guy record all of our performances. Needless to say, I have plenty of my solos sitting around on CDs somewhere. I'm much better than I was then, so I have no real desire to ever listen to them again.

Did you play the trumpet or something else?

I remember my director that I had for most of high school was pretty awesome, and he recorded most of our competitions. I wasn't much good though, so I can't really bring myself to listen to them. Dynamics were never really my forte (AHAHAHAHAHA bad pun). I got pretty damn good in my senior year, but my school brought in a new director. He was probably the worst teacher I had in my entire high school career. We had a very good core group of players (we'd finished with a silver at the Canadian National jazz competition), but nobody wanted to get yelled at every morning, so a lot of guys quit. We ended up with a ton of underage kids, rendering us inelligible to compete in most festivals. It was a shame, because I'd finally expanded my range up to a high G :(

It's my school's concert. I'm playing the trumpet.

I'm typing this from backstage. I've done quite badly ish so far. But the big song thing is yet to go.

You play the trumpet too? Cool. The best tip that I've ever heard for performing is that music is fluid. Once it's over, it's over - all of the mistakes that you'll make are behind you and are gone forever, so don't hold on to them. Just remember how awesome it is when you KICK SOME (br)ASS. lolucwutididthar?

Anyways, do you play in a concert band, or something else? I mostly played jazz. Much more fun.

Paul the Oracle Octopus of Germany has sucessfully predicted the outcomes of every single one of Germany's games*, including the shocking 1-0 defeat at the hands of Serbia. He is the single most powerful being in the entire universe - the physical manifestation of God on Earth. And he's a freaking octopus. Named Paul.

Apparently, the aquarium where he's housed is getting tons of death threats too. Ahh, what the World Cup can do to peaceful civilians...

*This only applies to Germany in the 2010 World Cup in South Africa. All prior results are null and void for the purposes of this argument. Therefore, SAGE UR ARGUMENT IS INVALID :O

<3 how the HS looks, but aren't Perms a little overkill? I'd think that you would get a similar (or better) result with weaker motors and more weaponry.

****ING OCTOPI, HOW DO THEY WORK?
Probably putting delicious food into the continers of the teams they want to win   :approve:

Yes, because the Germans obviously wanted SPAIN to win. [/sarcasm]

ACAMS plays poker?

"Plays" implies frivolity. ACAMS does not "play." In poker, there is no room for fun - just winning.

Schweinsteiger is still the coolest sounding name in the whole World Cup.

This means that I'll be cheering for the Dutch in the finals.

Quote from: The RA2 Wiki
3 WHEELS: you are on crack 8P

WELL THEN I GUESS I AM ON CRACK.

Before anyone asks, it drives straight. 3 NPC fasts, 8 ants, I have no idea what the armour is, and everything else is visible. Made mostly because I just wanted to make a non-SnS with 3 wheel drive.

Also, a really generic HW shell spinner that I normally wouldn't showcase. Except, note how the flails are mounted so close together:

Most of them (7 of the 9) actually did not allow themselves right away, like so:

However, I found that by merely floating my cursor slowly over the flail, the flail would flash in and out of red, enabling me to attach it when my cursor was over certain places, and not when it was over others. In itself, this method of "stacking" is completely useless, as the eFFe glitch is much, much easier, but does this mean that attachment points are really like tiny chassis baseplates where components can be shifted around by your cursor? I know 123stw posted something like this recently - perhaps this is a proof-of-concept for his findings.

Comment away!

First question: why the heck are the wheels pointed inwards?

Also, NPC motors have god awful HP. Leaving them out like that is pretty much suicide.

Instead of the quick fix, I'd consider a new setup. Instead of:
<weapon>--<extender>--<chassis>--<extender>--<drive>

go fo a more Mako-like setup, as in:
<weapon>--<longer extender>--<chassis+drive>

And then go from there. Also, MOAR WEAPONS.

After seeing that upset in round 2, I was thinking that there should be a Razor Guy award, for the robot that best exceeds all expectations from the community. It would be nice recognition for bots like Insult to Injury and the like that go on completely improbable winning streaks or pull off massive upsets.

Chatterbox / Re: Debate: Goal-line technology
« on: July 03, 2010, 02:17:07 AM »
Put sensors inside the soccer ball and the goalposts, you'll know right away if its a goal. Like hockey (?) Something like that lazor might work but then a player could trigger it.

Also, need a slew of refs up in boxes with instant replays telling the ref if something if offsides or not.

There are no sensors in the NHL (National Hockey League), but there is video review. Usually, the best angles are from the netcam (a camera that tracks the puck stationed in the very back of the net) and a camera directly overhead with a great top-down view of the goal line.

In England's case, you didn't even need any fancy laser or sensor technology. Just video review. I know FIFA is loathe to do that, but the blown calls (I recall another one besides the gaffe against England) have really put a black eye on the tourney. That goal wasn't even debatable - it was a good two feet in.

(P.S. I really don't think that a goal there would have made a difference to England. Sure the score would have been different and England clearly would have had momentum going into the second half, but Germany is by far and away the better team. That and British fans and media continually grossly overestimate their team and players compared to others around the world. They didn't lose because of a bad call, they lost because England is a slightly above average soccer nation who played a very powerful one.)
