I had enough weight for all irons, Sage.
![]() 248.9, same as last time, just missing the razor on the front, and with Z-Teks and Irons instead of HPZ's and razors. Sort of a LW Paramecium. Tried the motors to help turning thing, and it appears to have worked. 763

Servos can't lift anything without a substantial counterweight anyway. You could try the .py That Dam Dustpan! uses, it would just be a case of lifting the forks rather than lowering the saw.

Since it's going on the front page, we ideally want something eye-catching as well, rather than a hastily cobbled together mess. #3 is probably the best bot, but the splash is so terrible that I didn't want to vote for it at all. 765
Contests / Re: Vote BOTM July 2012« on: June 27, 2012, 08:01:22 AM »Because stock is dieing? mebey? For crying out loud, Stock is NOT dying. DSL simply has a greater range of parts to use, and allows for more creativity and originality in bots. If we alternated, Stock BOTM's would quickly repeat themselves and become stale. If you take a look at the DSL BOTM's there have been, the diversity in designs, styles, and components used is several times that of Stock. One of the Stock BOTM's, we just had to build a MW, and it was won by a bot that looked vaguely like a giraffe, because everyone besides JoeBlo else entered something generic. You don't get that problem nearly as much with DSL. 766

Yay chassis recycling. Bonus BURST ENHANCED RAZOR TIP to help defend the HPZ's slightly. Totally invertible, and although one wheel is slightly higher than the other, it drives perfectly well, which I am very pleased with. ![]() 768

Looks reasonably IRL. Similar to Armour Geddon from Robot Wars Series 3. Too many beaters to seem IRL, though, that'll do a lot more damage than it would normally. Maybe add some more weapons on the tail rather than the wheels.

PotO looks alright. Perhaps you could drop the armour to Plastic 3, and make the Small Wedges a bit wider, maybe by mounting them on seperate skirt hinges.
Excelsior just sucks. 771
Stock Showcases / Re: Enigma's Stock Showcase« on: June 26, 2012, 06:24:27 AM »
Now that is a nice stack. It's definitely unique, but I'm not too sure it'll be too competitive with just six maces, most HS will tear it apart. Although if the wedges are strong, it might make a reasonably popup-killer if the motors aren't too vulnerable.

I never really got around to testing it out properly. I just wanted to see if it was possible, really. In the meantime:
Ugh, this should be a challenge or something..."Build a practical LW HS with DSA, two RADs with 3 maces each, and a snowplow".Challenge accepted. ![]() 248.9, Nifty, DSA. All built from a SnapperII. Uses broadly the same setup as Fracture's, just with a totally airtight chassis, and the SnapperII and plow rotated such that the plow is positioned more or less in the middle of the setup, rather than skewed to one side. So it is doable. =) 773
Discussion / Re: Higher Resolution Skins?« on: June 25, 2012, 04:23:50 PM »
They're not decals, they're simply on the bot skin. You export the bot skin into an image editing program (I use Paint.NET), and resize the bitmap image to either 512x512 or 1024x1024. Anything higher is a bit of a waste, I reckon. Decals have got to be 64x64 24-bit .tga files, or they go all screwy.

If you go to Overview and zoom as far in as possible, then go to Components, you can manouver the components with much more precision than normal. Just make sure you don't accidentally go over the bot viewing window, because then it will jump back out.

It doesn't attach EXACTLY in the same place as the first one. It attaches slightly off-center on one axis. It works a lot better if you attach it in a top-down view.

Oh, I didn't really notice the razors near the DDT. Get rid of those, they're doing nothing but wasting weight. You might also want to turn the outer DDT's around, so the axle's nearer the center. That will give you a more concentrated area of attack.
What you could also do is stack the two Blackvolts together. It takes a little bit of trial and error, but that will allow you to get HPZ's in there with the removed razors, and centre up/extend the wedge at the front. 777
Stock Showcases / Re: Phoenyx's Stock Showcase: I prefer DSL, but whatever... Also Psyclone Challenge« on: June 25, 2012, 06:48:30 AM »
Not too bad. I prefer the second one, because it'll be easier to get under opponents, since it's faster. Plus, popups generally win matches quickly, so underpowering it isn't too much of an issue. I would prefer it if you used two 20cm extenders to get the wedge in the center, though, but that depends on how much weight you have left. And always use DSA, unless you want Plastic for LW and Sub-LW designs where weight is a serious issue.
