I would go with not-vlad or not-259 personally.

Modifications / Re: Robot Wars RA2 - OFFICIAL MOD
« on: January 23, 2016, 01:57:41 PM »
Like craaig said, it's not a bug. Just iffy design. Eruption (along with a few other flippers) actually has around 3 flippers, 2 of which are invisible. If you go into the bot lab with Eruption and press F12 to see the collision meshes of each component, you can see that it has an additional few flippers under the first one.

Eruption's traditional-looking flipper is also purely aesthetic and doesn't actually serve any actual purpose in terms of gameplay. The flipper is on a cheaty burst motor (said burst motor is probably going to be a cheatbot2 component in the upcoming expansion btw), but the chassis model and flipper model are shaped in such a way to give it a more realistic feeling than most RA2 flippers have to offer.

ENTER BLOOD CRAVINGS INTO NOOB WARS
Considering this. I'm gonna have to noob it up a bit more though, since it has razors.

It has 4 razors on 2 DDTs, but it's still razors.
how did you attach the drive on that remake bot you linked again? is it just a T connector out the back with 2 extenders facing inwards?

and i remember that conversation when you sent in your 15 NW4 entries. then i came back in 2014 and was like "wait, now he knows what he's doing?" ;)
Yeah that's exactly what the setup is. One of my favorites. Although it really isn't weight efficient to use a snapper just for drive when you could just use two baseplate anchors.

I remember entering my home-grown sh**bots into NW4 too. I even showcased them way back on the first few pages of my showcase:
lol

nostalgia circlejerk time lets go

So I was looking in my PM box and found this:

Circa July 2011. A whole 2-3 months after I started playing the game.

Named "Pop-corn" because comedy gold. Seems like my popup fetish fondness of popups goes all the back to when I first started playing RA2.

The first popup I ever remember making was back in June 2011, as an entry in RoboLeague:
^the extender work for this thing is nothing but T and angle connectors. Yeah, really.

I even rebuilt that bot, something like 2 or 3 times. One of the rebuilds is in ASAI, and the other one is in my showcase. In fact, two of ASAI's teams are entirely based around rebuilds of old bots, Throwback and The Notorious Six. Throwback are rebuilds of robots that were in the first few tournaments I entered, while The Notorious Six are rebuilds of robots that I posted early on in my showcase.

Can I make a MW version of my very first robot? I don't have, nor do I remember building any n00b warz-suitable MWs, and I really don't want to sit out of NW5 after screwing up my entry into NW4. The first MW in my showcase is this bot, and it has DSA + razors.

For comparison, this is what my actual first bot looked like:

I can probably get 4WD and a FS into a MW.

weren't they always bursts?
no
they had "fire" in the wiring tab
(Image removed from quote.)
Yep, metal hinges were indeed servos and they sucked. They would AGOD just about every time you put anything on them, so I'm glad clickbeetle changed them for DSL 2.2.

Shiny wheels can be invertible with plows if you put the baseplate anchor holding the plows on the bottom of the chassis.

build a steamroller

General Support / Re: Problematic ballast in Ironforge
« on: January 19, 2016, 11:50:31 PM »
Yeah, unlike every other mod, Ironforge has self-enforced weightclasses. All of the weight listings show up when you booth the game. If you forget them while building your robot, the "credits" button on the main menu displays them as well.

Stock and DSL and others use the in-game weight classes, Ironforge does not.

753
plow on the back can also be used as a pseudo-wedge when driving and inverted
nar go home you're drunk. Plows make for horrible wedges because:
1. it's not even on a burst motor
and 2. plows are way too wide to be efficient wedges. The narrower your wedge component is, the better of a wedge it is. This is why EMERGENCY wedges are crap for getting under other bots.

Putting armor on your rear is also useless, since odds are if anything can reach there at all you're already screwed. 09 is just memeing like he usually does. The closest to rear protection you really need is plows on the sides to give the wheels a slight bit of extra protection against SnS.

So why do we have several GTM members entering Robot Wars, but none in Battlebots?
BB 2015 was invitational.

755
you can make that thing one heck of a lot smaller, also stack the two supervolts, and you don't really need the pinks or the nifty.
Guy barely knows how to make a chassis. How do you expect him to know how to stack?

These are cool and all but the piston orientation makes no sense.
It's a new burst motor in DSL 2.2

Claiming the title of "first showcased DSL 2.2 bot"

Not tested at all, but it's a rammer so it probably sucks against anything with a wedge.

I'm skeptical too, since I'm pretty sure Andrew would have just spammed the site with porn and totally epic face/b/ook memes if he had really bought the domain.
