The Clamperl is my favorite.  Very well done.

Most dangerous looks to be the Klinks or possibly Cryogonal... wait weren't SnS supposed to be banned?  Or are those bots just AI'd as rammers?

(Reasonably confident I can win here except against those last four bots on my list.  Some other bots might give me trouble but those four definitely will.)

Round 7 is up!

Not as much happening as last round, but we're getting steadily closer to the semifinals.  I would guess it won't be more than 2 more rounds.

He means why is the Nifty off to one side and the Snapper is on the other side rather than in-line between the drive motors.

I like it personally.  It helps set that bot apart from the crowd of generic LW HS, and is still an efficient setup.

Plows need to be wider for stability and spinner-scooping.  Could be a good bot then.  (Hard to judge without seeing what the back looks like though.)

As long as you're already using BFE you could make the arms on the crawler SnS like Frag Beetle's arms and it would be approximately 13x harder to hit the extenders.

If we're making analogies to Pokemon, then popups are the Psychic type in gen 1.  Nothing resists them except other popups and there are no supereffective attacks against them.

HS are the Fighting type (gen 2 onwards).  Good coverage, supereffective against a lot of stuff, but weak to Psychic (popups).

Flying Guillotines and TRFBD's would be Dark and Steel types, respectively, since they resist popups and are more recent developments.  Also they are weak to HS (or at least weaker than they are to popups).

I didn't think it could be done... but you did it.

Does the bottom half of the body spin?

I've noticed that bots with drive motors mounted externally havok a lot less than internal motors.

Those are some nice screenshots there.  You got anti-aliasing turned on?  Really high-res too.  A lot of people could learn from screenshots like that.

...oh right, the bots.  Back in the day you could make shell spinners like that, but now it's essential to have bottom armor (except in the LW class, where it helps greatly but isn't totally essential).  Get some extra weight (change the irons to razors for a start) and use it to put a DSL disc under the chassis, or at least some titanium half sheets (though some popups can hit through those).

The bots are pretty generic but if you're just going for effectiveness that's not a bad thing.

Since multiple entries are allowed in Craaig's tournament:

I had to do this for the awesomeness factor.  Plus, Sandslash can easily take care of any Steel-types that come in and try to wall Garbodor.  :gawe:

2 mags with technos + 2 slimbodies with hypnos for drive, 10 ants, and 18 lightning spikes.  The spikes are mainly defensive though they can score some points if a bot gets on top.

Fun fact: The chassis is oriented diagonally on the grid in order to make it longer.

I'm not sure why I went all havoky that time. I thought it was only against wedges that I did that.

I'm not sure either.  Maybe it's any bot with a burst motor and not just wedges?  We'll find out if RPM havoks against The Beast.

Plutonium - I don't get why is this still alive, I thought you eliminated bots with no wheel spares and only one wheel left click ?

Plutonium had two spares left so next time it fights it will have 2 wheels.  If it loses one more it will be eliminated.  (It's 4WD if you can't tell.)

I knew I lost a part back in round 4 but I couldn't figure out what it was.  Thanks for clearing that up.

I knew you lost something too but I thought it was a mace.  Better check any component ID's I'm not sure of from now on to make sure what they are.

The reason I haven't entered is because I just can't think of anything!

Build something that doesn't work on a grounded design.  Like a Galactus-type VS, or a cartoonishly huge hammer (no need for stabilizers!), or a massive flail HS that could never drive straight on the ground.

735
Too many HS.  Epitaph does less good against other HS.  It was pure luck I got past Mike in the first round.

What the heck was up with Wolfsbane's bot?

Or SKBT's bot for that matter?  It looks like some of the drive motors aren't wired.

HOLY CARP

I JUST REALIZED THAT REFLECTION LOST A WHEEL WAY BACK IN ROUND 4

AND IT'S BEEN FIGHTING WITH 3 WHEELS EVER SINCE

AND NO ONE HAS EVEN NOTICED INCLUDING THE OUNCE

I just noticed myself after I finished putting the round 6 video together and reviewing it for errors.  Ounce will be happy to know I fixed the problem (gave ReFlection 4 wheels and took away a spare) and re-filmed its round 6 fight.  I can't really re-film its round 5 fight at this point though.

Anyway, round 6 is up now.  And it's a bloody one... Bots will be eliminated.  You've been warned.

You don't have any weapons left so there's no point in spinning... all it would do is make your wheels easier targets.  Besides, the Ironbot rules state that bots without any active weapons must use rammer AI.

I LOVE this game.

Well, the original and The Lost Age at least.  Dark Dawn was good by normal game standards but didn't come close to the originals.

My favorite strategy in Dark Dawn is giving Sveta Venus Djinni, having her summon Judgment or something, maxing out her attack with Weapon Grace, transforming and then spamming Psynergy Slam.  Ridiculously powerful.  Summon-rushing may be effective but it's not really fun...

I never played the other two (I never even saw them in shops...should probably get an emulator or something), but I have played and completed Dark Dawn. My only real problem with it was that it was way too easy, I didn't get one game over while running through it. Summon Rush the bosses (All Djinnis on standby, use most powerful summons (and yet, somehow, with the nearly no health that comes from having them on standby, I didn't die)).

Do yourself a favor, go find the GBA games... they're A LOT harder than Dark Dawn (almost as hard as Final Fantasy V... maybe FFIV level), there are not so many "points of no return" where you can permanently miss Djinni and rare items, the 2D sprite-based graphics are just as impressive as anything in 3D (if not more so) and the gameplay stays pretty much the same (the only significant gameplay aspect that was added in Dark Dawn was the characters' weapon levels and some new Psynergy).  I think the story might have been better too but it's been a couple years since I played it so it's hard to judge.

Check out this awesome remix of Lavender Town that FB did:

Maybe this is something Craaig could use in PokAImon?  I dunno.  Bot lab music perhaps.  But it would be easy to get FB's permission for it.
