And TBH I find the sort of guitar work done by BVB to be very generic and dull.
I don't find it dull, a smidge generic but I still like it... I used to be a huge Dragonforce fan (Not so much anymore) now they were repetitive

I've never really listened to August Burns Red but I agree with the teenage thing..... With me I just like to have some singing in a song, I find it rather boring to listened to an all screamed or death growled song

The word mainstream is seriously overused in music.....
True, but mainstream - nowadays, at any rate - is generally comprised of relatively simple, repetitive songs that don't have much lyrical diversity or merit. Compared to something like One, or Stairway to Heaven, the songs that you see in the charts - comparativaly - tend not to be particularly good, at least in the UK.
I like how your explanations always include logic, but yeah things do seem to be like that in the UK. But not so badly in Wales because all of our Sheep have the voice of an angel
