« on: August 22, 2011, 03:56:38 AM »
I've actually seen compressed air powered engines in car prototypes.  It's a nice concept, but air just lacks the strength needed to get a car going.  Plus, having highly compressed air tanks on a car is pretty dangerous when you get into an accident.

So there's your relevance with the automotive section.

Typical Americans, no disrespect, but you always have to do something bigger and better and burn about 100000 gallons of petrol doing it.... I (and IRW) are perfectly content with our 3.5 litre V8's, they're all we need.

Well you didn't really need the extra power much, considering 90% of your driving experience in England is idling in the inevitable traffic jam or maneuvering through cramped cities with archaic street layouts.

We like big engines over here because we have these things called highways.  They're like your roads, except they're wider than 4 feet across, you go fast on them, and you don't always get stuck in traffic on them.

Rover is the name of a car company that gave us the best sounding V8 engine in the world.

If you were talking about this, it's actually a Buick engine.

He didn't weight 1k... He ended up going to the same place I was going, I saw him get out of his truck.

I was being sarcastic.

Street raced a couple weeks ago in the rain at 1AM. Some fat dude in a 90's V8 GMC truck tried to pass me in the right lane before the two lanes merged, and I wasn't having any of it. I was driving a carload of five people (Around 1000 pounds give or take) in my 4Cyl Nissan Altima:

I ****ing won.

One fat guy can very easily weight as much as the five people in your car, especially if he's american. :>

But isn't smooth a GOOD thing (in most cases)?

Would be, if smooth in this case didn't equal mushy and bad handling.  I took a 90 degree turn today at 30 mph, the thing barely made it around without coming off the road.  Not only that, but the suspension clanged and and made some rather scary sounds.  Not doing that again.

Also, here is the car.

Wrecked my truck today...

(Image removed from quote.)

I now know your pain, Noodle.

It used to be a 1996 GMC Sonoma. Now it's just a pile of scrap metal.

If anyone needs a Newly rebuilt 4.3 L V6 with under 5000 miles on it, let me know... :'(

(Image removed from quote.)

Aaaaawwwww......

Gotta admit, noodle. You didn't really like your Camry (so I've heard), and andy loved his Pumpkin  :'(

Yeah I pretty much hated that thing.  Still, I do kinda miss it.  Flooring my Moldsmobile is so boring compared to the Camry because the thing is too damn smooth.  When I floored my Camry it slammed my head into the seat and made the most ungodly sound (the thing had a massive exhaust leak).  Even though it never really went all that fast, it was great fun because the thing sounded like it was going to explode.

Also, getting in a major accident just sucks.

Guys, could you hold this argument until my popcorn's ready? This is getting entertaining  :laughing

Oh no!  Two people with differing opinions on cars!  They're such faggots!

Of course not! I just thought the argument was entertaining and fun to watch. I'm not a faggot, and neither are you two.

And what's wrong with trying to inject humour into the situation?

It's just that I've met too many people that think having any opinion on what they consider simply a form of transport is pointless and retarded.

Theres nothing special about it at all. The only thing remotely different is the front, and it doesn't look fast. It doesn't look exciting. It doesn't look fun.

And whats the point of buying any car if you know you aren't going to like it. I would hate that thing if I had one.

What's so special/exciting looking about a bubble on wheels?  It's not exotic or streamline looking, it just looks like every other late 90's bubble on the street.

Also, how do you know I'm not going to like it?  I already told you I like the way it looks, and it's got numbers on par with an Acura Integra from 6 years later.  I don't see what's not to like.

I like the SL2 because they actually tried to make it look sleek without making it one of those horrendous bubbles cars in the 90s slowly transitioned into.

I would refer to the 90s more as boxes then bubbles, and sleek=/=good looking in the Saturn's case. It just looks... boring

The styling of the 90's started as boxes and ended as bubbles.

Also, I don't see how it looks boring.  It stands out from the jap cars and their numerous clones in the 90's IMO.

On the subject of cars, one of these could likely be my next car.

(Image removed from quote.)

The SL2 weights about the same as the Puma, does 0-60 in 7.5 seconds, has four doors, looks a heck of a lot better, and gets great mileage.

Ummm I have to disagree with you on Puma vs. SL2 in the looks category.

How?  The puma looks like a dome on wheels.

How safe is it? We all don't want to see you shunt like that again and not walk away.

EDIT: Unless your name is Jonzu :L

It's actually pretty safe.  It scored with the Toyotas and Hondas of its class.

my dream car:

(Image removed from quote.)

hope fully i will be able to find one cheaply in a couple of years.

I'd love one of those too, you can find them quite cheap on ebay if I remember rightly.

I don't understand the appeal of Reliant 3-wheels.
