Custom Components Showcase / Re: Pay Tribute With Replicas
« on: November 27, 2016, 03:50:27 PM »
well.. it uses a LOT of customly skinned components.. ill try and change every bit of every bot i've made..
When doing replicas make copies of your skinned components and keep them seperate so that one day you can release them.

Quick question: are you going for IRL or Standard? Please say whenever you post a bot because the advice given will be wildly different.

If standard, that skirt is fine but you might want to add a skirt hingeas well at the same height to add some angled skirts.

For Not PP3D, change out your round extenders for a square one but rotate it so it is in the same angle as the panels. Then, attach a couple of panels to each of them to ensure that your wheelguards won't get knocked off. Then, see if you can wrap another panel around the wheel and intersect it into the chassis to make a surrounding of the wheel. Maybe add two wedge edges to block the center of the front of the bot for more protection.

Make sure you eventually update Blue 2, please.
For Not PP3D and Dinstrio I went for IRL, as for Blue 2 I went for standard. Not PP3D has the round extenders so I can have them coloured but I'll try and do as you said. Thanks for the advice Avalanche!
Square extenders are also included in the IRL packs DSC made.

Just seeing my bot fight is enough. Should be fun :)
If it manages to get a flip in, you might see a bot go... between planets, should we say...
IM NOT SCARED OF YOU (even though your a ref-bot and owns Nebula)

i've been rekt.

not sure how irl that one is because of how the pistons have no way to actually move the flipper, as there is nothing for the storms to push on. IDK.
blame click not me kid
fair point. I guess you could have used some of the piston bursts but oh well.
The straight VDMAs had less flipping power for their weight in my testing, and I couldn't find room for a single beta.
Fair enough.

Aspergers exists so pharmacies can sell you pills. It's basically ADHD: Current Yeartm edition.

not really.

I have diagnosed Asperger's and have never taken a pill in my life. Please get your facts straight, AS.

Let us give advice before posting a new bot, ok?

I'm going to presume you've switched to DSL 2.2 by now, and if you haven't please do so at once as DSL 2.1 is basically obsolete.

Dinistrio looks cool but has issues: the way you have that skirt hinge attached, it looks fugly as all the extenders and sh** are there, and the way you have one skirt is not really fair game in IRL. If you switch to DSL 2.2 you can use a metal hinge which is smaller and can fit a sole wedge on there. You could move the skirt back and attach a vlad flipper if you want a larger wedge. Also, the ant battery at the back isn't going to be too helpful. Your wheels seem exposed, and while the bot isn't plain bad it just seems a bit dull for IRL. Spice it up a bit, with some flipper segments around the wheels for a wheel guard, ramplate at the front for some external armor, hell, even a plow if you want. Try and make it look more irl.

Blue 2 still needs a wedge like I asked. please use a skirt hinge  to attach a couple of small wedges onto the bot to make it easier to get under bots, because if you are trying to drive around bots to get under them, this won't work in an tournament where it is AI'd. Also, the skirts are slightly less IRL than what a set of flipper segments would provide so use a chain of those connected to make a more realistic flipper.

Well it weighs 799.7 and i had to use cheatbot2 motors which are the diablo ones and i do have DSL 2.2 i just wanted to show one of my favorite robot from 2.1

Oh. OK then. Apologies but that bot wouldn't be legal for tournament use due to it's diablo motors, but I can understand that you just wanted to show one of your favorite bots. If you build more bots, please refrain from using cheatbot2 because the majority of tournaments don't allow you to use cheatbot 2.

We don't really do DSL 2.1 anymore, because DSL 2.2 is simply better for both Standard and IRL metas. If you want, you can install DSL 2.2 and just import your old bots into DSL 2.2.

Now you've posted the insides, can you please also tell us the weight of the bot and what armour it has? This is crucial for working out how much room you have to expand on the bot, weightwise and armour wise.

Blue 2 could definitely use a wedge on the front, so use a skirthinge and attach a couple of Small Wedges for a starting point if you wish to make your bot IRL. If you are going standard, go for a skirt hinge, use only the middle attach point, and attach a long titanium skirt.

Your bot seems to have an Achilles heel: your wheels and motors. Those look to be either copals or astroflights: if they are, you have far too little drive behind Blue 2. Take out those ant batteries, then insert NPC's or NPC Fasts, and attach hypno wheels. That should get you the speed you need for a flipper.

Again, please move to DSL 2.2 as DSL 2.1 is a dead mod.

Note that it's ok to ask if you don't get something, but please keep working on Blue 2 with the advice I and hopefully others will post, so you can improve your bots. Your bot is a bit simple, but for a newcomer it isn't too shabby. Try adding a wedge to all your bots, and by this I mean a skirt hinge (or in dsl 2.2 a metal hinge) and either a couple of Small Wedges or if you aren't trying to go for IRL a titanium skirt.

Right:
Krieg's group is MW 2.

Krieg VS Dead Heat: I have no idea what DH does but I could win this.
Krieg VS Grimm. Grimm wins, no surprises.
Krieg VS Malachite: Malachite will beat me.
Krieg VS Nebula: Yeah this is going to be a bloodbath. But screw you you mechavore-disc using plebeian.
Krieg VS the Silencer: Finally a mtch I can win!
Krieg VS Velocity: Should be able to outwedge him.

Raus MK. 1: Got high hopes for this bot, it's drum is pretty vicious.

Raus MK. 1 VS Billet 6: ****. I can pray, but Raus is a glass cannon. I will be forcibly inducted into Billet Club, methinks.
Raus MK. 1 VS Cole: Yeah, this isn't gonna go well. Might be able to give him a decent fight, who knows?
Raus MK. 1 VS Jester: I can win this. Just got to hope I dont get hit by the axe.
Raus MK. 1 VS Jugger Nugget: I think I can win this.
Raus MK. 1 VS One Punch Bones: bruh
Raus MK. 1 VS Piercing Headache: Little wary of their wedge but I think I can win.

Ironside Mk. 1 VS Black Cloud: I have enough top armor to win this, I reckon.
Ironside Mk. 1 VS Carbonize: I can pray, and that's about it. I have sh**e loads of armor, but I won't be able to move in with the hammer.
Ironside Mk. 1 VS Death Comes: I can pray I ram right into him, stop him, and whale on him. I'll probably survive the match thanks to my efforts with the side armor.
Ironside Mk. 1 VS john the robbut: Already sick of seeing john. Ironside in testing cannot self right well, so I am ****ed.
Ironside Mk. 1 VS Prepare For Trouble (And Make It Double): WHAT AM I EVEN LOOKING AT? I honestly don't know who will win.
Ironside Mk. 1 VS Spiky: I don't get what spiky is meant to do, but I presume it's a cross between a drumbot, a VS and a stiltbot. I think I can handle him unless he is outside my smartzone.
Ironside Mk. 1 VS Terminal Ferocity: I could probably wedge him, but he has a entire flipper to get through before I can hit his chassis. Gonna be tough.

The Executioner VS Cheap Surgery: I think my cutting teeth can keep his drum at bay while I hammer away with the axes.
The Executioner VS Ice Force 2: Is this a HS/Hammer hybrid? I don't know, but I'll probably lose.
The Executioner VS Mass Accelerator: PRESSURE WILL END UP IN MY BLOODY NIGHTMARES MARK MY WORDS.
The Executioner VS Poison Viper: If I wedge him, I might be able to batter him down. Depends if my treads have enough speed behind em.
The Executioner VS Propeller Head Mk. 3: that's just lazy doge. just no. He'll win, obviously, but please never do this to us again.
The Executioner VS The Falkirk Wheel: I will absolutely savour a victory here. I've got a lot of hope riding on this match.

Don't get too down about it, jamied, make your own showcase first so we give you advice. Once you learn from us you can use our collective advice to help others. If you have a problem when trying to make a showcase, say why so we can help with that.

Boto, that's actually decent. Some issues with it seem to be how the different wheel guard panels look odd and disjointed. If they are purely extenders, think about doing flipper makers. (psst dsc if you do flipper segments in the next irl pack I will give you a cookie). The spikes on the side really don't feel all that useful tho, and I'm not sure they add to the bot. Get rid of them, then make the the wheel guards totally surround the wheel to make it look more complete.
