Right
And all the cool kids are also jumping off cliffs Run along now
British people tend to jump off cliffs? That's a stereotype I've never heard of. I mean, I knew they liked to put jam on french fries, but I had no idea they liked to an hero.

English people have a tendency to shove cheese up their noses.
Please, guys, no insulting. Let's try to keep it clean.
And at the moment: - One stereotype at a time - The country stated ONLY.
First of all, it was a joke. Secondly, stereotypes are inherently insulting.

I am currently without a desk. I'll probably set one up when I get my new apartment. (That should be within the next month or so.)

NWOBHM: This was the first kind of Heavy Metal and basically is like Iron Maiden and Judas Priest, not extreme but very much like metal and rock mixed. It was actually the second kind (hence the name). New Wave of British Heavy Metal takes the very bluesy elements of the first wave (Black Sabbath) and combines some elements of punk. Speed Metal: Basically patented by Motorhead and Anthrax in somewhat different styles. Very fast rhythm and a very punky attack, but with massively fast riffs. Probably the second hardest type to play after thrash. Ace Of Spades by Motorhead and Indians by Anthrax are your examples. While I'm not necessarily disagreeing, Lemmy of Motörhead doesn't like to call his band a metal band. He insists that he's doing "Rock & Roll". It's a fair point considering how easy it is to hear the Rockabilly influence. Black Metal: Genre basically made by Venom then made popular by Slayer. Like Death Metal but less extreme and with sung vocals. Varies a of a lot though. Two examples- My Twin by Katatonia and War Ensemble by Slayer are our examples. Slayer is Thrash. Along with Venom, Mercyful Fate was also a Black Metal pioneer. King Diamond of MF helped define the image by introducing corpse paint. Nu Metal/Post Grunge: Characterised by rap and slowish industrial sounding riffs, this type of metal is by far the newest. Example is Stricken by Disturbed.
Bad example. Disturbed stopped being Nu-Metal after their first album. By the time the song "Stricken" came out, they had gone Hard Rock.

Grunts suck. Black metal is far superior as it often contains vocals that aren't complete crap. I will say that melodic death metal isn't all bad, though.

Thrash death glam power sludge stoner prog groove southern metal.
Thrash is essentially a combination of classic heavy metal (Black Sabbath and the like) and hardcore punk. It's really loud and fast with relatively simple song structures. Death Metal is sh** with sh**ty vocals. Prog(ressive) Metal is the metal equivalent of Progressive Rock. The song structures are very complex and the albums tend to revolve around a concept. Keyboards aren't a requirement, though they are often used.

They weren't really a thrash band, though. Not quite enough punk elements.

Why only the first four Metallica albums? They're all good, except maybe St. Anger.
Stanger's a massive flip-flopper. For every good bit theres a KILL KILL KILL KILL KIIIIIILLLL bit.
I agree with that. St. Anger showed that they had a lot of great ideas, but just weren't in a good place to flesh those ideas out into great songs. The various live rearrangements that they've done to those songs have shown how awesome that album could have been. For instance: The only two thrash bands I really got into were Metallica and Megadeth.

I had, but rejected it as a stupid option.
What makes you think that? Why is suicide a stupid option?
Unless one is terminally ill or in some such similar situation, killing oneself seems like a waste. Bad sh** happens. It's up to all of us to counter that and make sure that our own lives are satisfying. There is no chance at improving if one kills him/herself. Besides, why end it on a bad note when one can end it while in a state of happiness?

Topic starter! Who here has ever considered suicide?
As sad as I've ever been, I've never considered offing myself. There are people much worse off than me, and I haven't had enough time to live up to my full potential yet.
