With an odd viewing angle, it could be hard for player 2 to see and control their robot. Usually the camera follows player 1, and a static camera would be weird.

That extender work in the back is so gross.
I would also flip the DDTs around so that that hammers are higher up. The VS will presumably be juggling other robots, so those low hammers aren't gonna do much of anything.

You could put a plow on the HS using on the of the snapper 2 back APs and a few extenders.
Clean setup but pretty simple, been done plenty of times with different chassis shapes.

As far as editing component.txt files goes, here's a good tutorial I made a while ago. It's about adding more options in dropdown menus for different component skins, but it goes into that exact topic.

As for your issue, there should be a way in the python coding to have it recognize when the robot's axis is inverted. Unfortunately I have no idea how to do that :P
