I assure you, I would take this project under my wing if I had the skills to, but at this point in my life, its implausible for me to, with no formal training in code, and no way to attain such training until I am in college Bullsh**. Everything I know I learned by myself.

We are not, nor will we ever think of, resorting to gbots.
Shhh, you're bursting his little bubble.

Name recommendation for the new Engine- Razortip Engine?
Right now it's called Potato. Probably a code name. Just like my homebrewed OS kernel is called Asparagus and my GUI toolkit is called Pumpkin.

Me neither, but I don't really blame them for not sharing the code. They signed agreements with the people that coded it, and unless those people agree, the code is not being released any time soon.

ANOTHER multiaccount Sparkles? When will you learn?
[/lolz]
No, this can't be Sparkey, since it actually looks like a bot and not like a coloured rectangle and a black circle.
Ehhhh.....
Go back to your masturbatorium. And next time you come out, actually contribute something to the discussion.

I skate, bike, run track, do pakour build boxbots with my other retarted friends and I work at my parents store.
I study, I work as a part-time programmer, I take care of the household (since nobody else can), I volunteer at school. I wish I could spend my time on hobbies alone.

wouldn't it be possible for the one's who now own the rights and such for the game to just pass it on? i mean, giving the right of the game and the source code to people here like Acams and Serge. they aren't going to do anything with this game, and surely they also don't care about it, so why not pass it on to someone who does care?
Been there, done that. GI won't hand out the code because - They apparently still get monies from it
- It contains proprietary code over which they don't have control (like Havok)
That, and making a good successor would actually require a brand new engine, not the sh**ty one from RA2. Other wise we end up with RA2 and 1/3.

I was thinking about the possibilitys of an RA3, and I thought, couldn't we all just combine our efforts, make a company and make a freeware spiritual succsessor?
Okay you start. FYI: Most of the people here that can contribute in any meaningful way aren't little kids like you are, and have something called "a life". While I'd love to work on a successor full-time, it's just isn't happening.

I still think all the major modders could combine there skills and make a spiritual succsessor.
I've been working on a 3d engine adequate for our goal for some time now. More of a long-term project though.

This forum is fine the way it is in my opinion. If it dies, then it dies. We should not "expand our horizons." This is an RA2 forum, and it should remain and RA2 forum. Expanding it to other games will not do RA2 any good, it will just take a back seat to the more popular games. We should just enjoy these forums while they last, not complain about them like Dexterhunter is. The members of this forum will change over time, they may be more immature and more offtopic. That really doesn't matter. As long as people still love to play RA2, then this forum will survive in one form or another.

As you all know, I tried gbots and it failed miserabley, but I want to make it a comeback. What I'm aiming for is a 2d top view multiplayer type game where you can make your own bots, and draw the representation image in paint and upload it to the bot for it's image. Can anyone give me tips on what to use?
Python + Pygame (for the graphics) + Twisted (excellent event-based network framework).

And technically, MTF or FTM is not for describing transvestites, it's for describing transsexuals. Oops, you're right. Sorry!
