Copied and Pasted from a thread I posted, as I felt that a new thread might be worth it at the time. I have deleted the thread.
Trov, I will admit that I have no clue what happens behind the scenes, and i reckon there's a 99% you are planning on running something big behind the scenes, or you are just busy with everything currently going on. But this lack of communication about nearly everything means someone has to work out what is happening. For example: the General Chatter Thread. One of the richest sources of GTM history left to us with page numbers in the triple digits, since Story time died many years ago, Playground bit the dust (let's not discuss this, some might want it back, but that's not what this thread is about) and so many other threads died from purges of Playground and Chatterbox. But the only way we found out this thread was dead for good? We heard it from MegaNerdBomb, who isn't even staff (but has been doing some bloody good work with the BOTM) in the discord, and prior to that it was only confirmed in the staff section without ever being said in the main forum. This lack of communication leads to frustration () and leads to people not wanting to go ahead with change or plan out brilliant ideas when there's a chance you'll just come along and just "lol nope" the idea before leaving again. The fact that a dead-on joke about "trov using his quarterly post" is a thing when you are the last even remotely active admin. I mean, lets list our current admins: Goose seems to be only in the discord, Click's vanished, Starcore pops up occasionally to say hi, Darkrat vanished some time before 2009, ACAMS is retired, and I legitimately forgot Madiaba existed until I went and checked (that'll be my stupidity mostly but not a good sign), and he's inactive too.
Maybe i'm making a mountain out of a molehill. But I personally think that you need to set up more communication or delegate more (debatable), because the Mod's can't do much. We need you to update BOTM for example, but that feels like something a moderator should be capable of doing. Now, there does seem to be some communication behind the scenes, in the staff forum and what not, because Naryar was mentioning this in the discord 3 days ago, but just some communication in general with the rest of us would be good. That's literally all we need, and maybe giving mods more power or setting up a second admin will solve these issues.

OK guys, problem. Buzzsaw (my 2nd entry) has a massive, match-ending havok every time the saw is knocked off. It's basically impossible to finish a match vs HS with it. Would anyone object to me replacing buzzsaw with Scout (shown in the title image and in my showcase)?
Nope. Replace it if you need to.

Dragonfire is the real mod of this section, I barely do anything. He'd make a great overall moderator.

ants wheels kinda look funny on it tbh. maybe you should go for treads since i think that would be a pretty unique look. you should also add some extenders to make it look like the flippers are connected somehow and so they don't look as fragile.
Funnily enough the very first version of this bot did actually use treads. The problem I was facing was that when a bot drove up on top of the chassis it would jam up the tracks and stop the bot from moving. I've switched the Ant wheels to Rubber wheels (Largest that will fit in those wheelguards) since. I will definitely add some extenders to the flipper though (To be clear, do you mean those fake pistons that people do, or something else?)
I'd say fake pistons but also thicker extenders holding the panels. Maybe add panels to the front, too.

yeah with the seperate panels being held on by extenders 10cm wide it looks flimsy.

Sarcasm aside, Sage or someone trustworthy and active for mod, Craaig/Kill for admin. Boom, ****ing done. GTM has a more active admin (though trov is presumably busy, no feedback from him is a bad sign.) who can engage with the community while Trov handles the backend.
I already maintain the main CB spreadsheet, it would make sense for me 2 B admni yis? kappa
Instead of posting "SICK FUNNY MEMES XD" can we actually discuss this idea? Sure, titles aren't regarded too highly but that could, with the proper planning and attention which I am hoping to provide, be rectified. And if 3 months is too long? 1 month then.
First of all I'll overlook the blatant popularity contest here (calling me out for meming while ignoring Sage's before), and out of respect for everyone else, I have deleted my original post.
I'd like to think I am an active mod; I check this area at least 5 times a day, ensuring that the spreadsheet is up to date with any new results and threads are locked/renamed properly. I am sorry if no-one appreciates my work, and this disheartens me. If any more popular mod would like to take over, I can transfer the spreadsheet to you or you can make your own and I'll just delete mine.
Apologies, I was trying to say with the SICK MEME part that this disregard from Sage, AS, 09 and you were pointless and didn't help. Your work isn't seen too much but when we look harder and have it pointed , I see all this sh** is done for us with care and attention. For that, you are a great mod. I ****ed up and insulted you in particular with my quote formatting, when I was more angry about everyone deciding to "LEL MEME" it up instead of trying to make valid discussion. My "Sarcasm aside" part was trying to see a slight benefit, but i can see how this made you think I was digging at you in particular. Again, your work here is always gonna be appreciated, even when twats like me **** up and don't show respect. Please stay, you are a great mod. I don't know what's worse, LRA2 flaming someone for memeing or implying that that 1 post is derailing the thread. Give the dude a break, you don't have to flame literally everyone at every opportunity you get. Save it for the actual sh**posts. [/quote] I'll post 1 reply to this, and be done. Yes, I attacked a highly helpful moderator for no decent reason. I ****ed up, and I have apologised. But here's where my frustration stems from: this post was meant for serious discussion about what we could do to improve the challenge board, and potentially make this sh** more important and active. What did I get in return? Bad, unfunny and unhelpful memes about needing a new admin. Come on, I try to make an actual valid point and this is what we get.

I haven't watched the second episode yet, but my problem with those filler bits in EP1 was that they were awfully introduced and edited. The interview they didn't shove in couldn't have been that bad, could it? Was I making funny faces in the background by accident?
I didn't think they were THAT bad.

There was an interview that took place which I was in the background for that didn't make it into the first special. I presume that's why we got all the godawful Overdozer/Terrorhurtz filler bits in its place.
Those serve a decent purpose tho: They introduce first time viewers into what RW is like when it isn't a celebrity special. IIRC we saw less of em in episode 2 because of the higher quality of the matches.

I'm not really sure how making it harder to attain titles will make the titles mean anything to people. Honestly the only way you really could would be is to give people a logo or like an actual challenge beltish looking thing below their username so there would actually be some sort of reward involved. Of course the only way to pull that off would be for someone with admin powers to update that stuff when needed, and Trov wouldn't be around enough for that. Plus with the whole "3 month period" thing you suggested it basically becomes a mini GTM championship.
We definitely need a role/title setup on profiles to give some actual prestige to those who have won a title. Of course the only way to pull that off would be for someone with admin powers to update that stuff when needed, and Trov wouldn't be around enough for that.
What I would recommend, is upgrading one of your existing moderators to admins. Namely either Craaig or Kill343gs. While they both have thier pros and cons (craig being more consistently active, but doesn't have as much moderation experience, kill being basically the opposite), I feel that either one of them would be the best for the job. Another boon to having these two in particular be admin, is the fact that the Discord chat offers a direct line of real-time contact to them, as opposed to waiting for them to log on to GTM and respond to a PM you send them.
(Image removed from quote.)
Yeah, Trovaner needs to do SOMETHING about this, because it feels like the mods are limited in what they can do as they answer to the Administrators, who are practically non-existant at this point.

This thread died. I think that we should do SOMETHING with the titles, and make them worth more.
Let's take the original idea I proposed, but tweak it slightly: There should be 5 titles: Stock, DSL Standard, DSL-IRL (Can only be defended or won in a Vote Battle, so it isn't about efficiency in any way), Ironforge, Retooled. This keeps those who solely play IRL happy and keeps everyone else happy.
Next, people can list themselves to be contenders for a title at any time, but lose all progress they have made if they switch. To move up in contendership rankings, they must challenge people to matches. We could simply use the current challenge board Leaderboard system where a win = 1 point, a loss = -1 point, and a DQ is -1 to disqualified participants but 0 for anyone else. At the end of a 3 month period (The match should be arranged in the last 7 days of the month, then the match should be completed by the end of the month), the champion MUST face the current #1 contender in a BO3 match, with either their most recently used robot being used or they can provide a new one. If they are inactive then they vacate the title, and the #1 and #2 contenders face each other for the title.
This obviously would be different for the IRL title, where the champion and challenger would both provide a new robot they have not showcased before and send them as a vote battle.
This should happen. We need to make the challenge board titles mean something, so we have something constant to look forward to. We have that with BOTM, but that is for the coolest/most meme robot, so perhaps we can have this as something to constantly look towards. The benefits are: constant competition to keep community interest high, different mods so people have their preference, less fleeting victories than tournament wins, and it makes the challenge board mean something once more.
There is literally no downside to this IMO. We should discuss and implement this ASAP for the new year.

Is it weird that we've got an extra fight in the first episode with the two hosts fighting but not a fight of the two winners in the secon episode?
Probably had something to do with the average episode 1 match ending after about 20 seconds....
They also were expecting it to be a dvd extra, not included in the Show, according to someone on Facebook who was there at the filmings.

I was doing so well and then my wedges decided to suck donkey dick... still a good performance though, got in a hell of a flip on Prepare For Trouble (And Make It Double) and I beat CarboniZe! That's revenge for Death Battle And let's be honest here, did anyone see Spiky doing better than John the Robbut
Let's be honest: Did ANYONE see john the robbut losing?
Is it still a stock robot, once you get right down to it, yes?
It's near identical, but all the parts got switched out for suitable DSL ones IIRC. It didn't get a good showing here, but look at Death Battle to see what it's capable of.

(Image removed from quote.) And it's always the one that people don't do as often that are not accepted.
hoo boy where to start it's 1:42 am so quick rundown: the axe support is slim but tall which looks flimsy and bad, plus it basically is only connected to the chassis in a single 10cm area. the back SNS doesn't make any sense: you have a robot that is entirely based on precise strikes to the front, and you make it spin on the spot where it will never hit anything with the axe? wtf why would you do that? also it looks bland and the battleaxe looks strange on the bot. the casters on the side look pointless and terrible for aesthetics. and you have an incredibly flat chassis which is the opposite of what a hammer should be. thecolours look blerg as well. edit: also your hammer is perpendicular to the long side, meaning your piston has no room. why? redesign the chassis first and build it not as an extenderframe bot but as a regular one so you can work out a rough shape instead of an extender frame one

^ mfw avalanche returns I have returned! To begin with, here is a robot that i've been working on for the past week, off and on: (Speed-Attack Flipper) Challenger Mk. 1. Or (S.A.F) C Mk. 1 for short. (You'll only get it if you know your Premier League football.) Built with 4 NPC fasts inside it, it is ridiculously fast when all the wheels touch the ground. It has larger wheels in the back to try and ensure all wheels touch the ground so the flipper has a decent wedge, but it hasn't been tested in this configuration yet. It runs the largest VDMA burst so that it has power behind it's flipper. It can be hard to control, but it's fun to use. I have an idea to convert it into a wammer or rammer, so there's food for thought there. This bot will most likely end up in Badnik's tournament, alongside Raus Mk. II which is currently in production.

Ok, instead of going off this poll, if you wish to improve you need to take the advice you've been given and work on it. Take what I said about Not PP3D:
"For Not PP3D, change out your round extenders for a square one but rotate it so it is in the same angle as the panels. Then, attach a couple of panels to each of them to ensure that your wheelguards won't get knocked off. Then, see if you can wrap another panel around the wheel and intersect it into the chassis to make a surrounding of the wheel. Maybe add two wedge edges to block the center of the front of the bot for more protection."
Bulk up your wheelguards so the exposed extender's are unexposed. Then add another 2 panels to totally cover your wheels. As for your weapon, you need to make it reach further so it gets more solid hits. if you wish, you could use a double axle ETEK motor and have an under/over cutter. This might push your bot into HW or SHW category, but SHW could use more bots anyways.
Build revisions of your old bots so you can steadily improve on your old designs. If you think you are bad at something, keep doing it so you learn it better.
