I also fail to see how the last one is more IRL than the second one.

I think the idea is that there's now a slot in the frame that the claw fits into, and before it was a solid chunk of armor.

Yes, and claw when activated would pass right through the front armor. The self righting mechanism is inside the chassis, cutting through all the batteries, pistons, motors, etc, while in the IRL version it's positioned outside the chassis and the front armor is removed to avoid unrealistic overlapping.

I'm new to IRL building so I don't know how far exactly should the bots be IRL

ok i didn't see enough the insides

and in IRL cutting through armor is fine : cutting through power and mobility components isn't.

So whatever customized armor I build I can still make things cut through it?

The argument about Dubstep has never been so... off topic

Thank you all  :smile:

They all look incredible, as usual. What wheels does the scooter use, and does it stay upright? Also I like the use of the Y-connecter on Feral Scorpion IRL, it looks like it fits in there good.

The scooter uses rubber wheels. There are in fact 4 wheels and they were attached inwards but they are 'stuck' together.
Edit: It does stay upright for about 5 seconds but because of the DSL axle mount, the front starts to swivel and then it topples

would it be possible to get MA's piston further back? it would look better and be more damaging if the teeth start inside the chassis

Yes I can but for that I need to attach the 2 NPC motors further back. The one on the right will be a little bit out of the chassis if I do it. I think it would look ugly like that IRL speaking but if you think otherwise I would have no trouble doing it.

You're just like a machine gun. You post bots at an impressive rate compared to everyone else, imo.  :bigsmile:

Thank you  :smile:

I'm currently out of ideas for more insane bots. So it might take a while to replenish and refresh my mind.

Also in these last couple of months I kind of missed my noob building days where I built simple bots against simple opponents, without the excessive need of wedges and such. DSL is kind of a wedge battle. The wedgiest wins, in general. I could move to Stock but i don't like stock very much because it lacks components
So i think I'll make an escape to DSL IRL. I'll post sometimes IRL and sometimes my usual bots. I will also obviously specify when the bots I post are intended to be seen as IRL.

So I've built some examples and I'd like you guys to give me feedback on how to build IRL. I tried searching for some instructions for DSL IRL building in the forum and wiki but no success. Comments, critics, opinions, everything welcome.

I hate it when people say electronic music takes no skill! For now let's assume it doesn't take any skill (wrong). Skill doesn't matter one bit, its all what sounds good to you! Birds sing a bunch and they are naturally gifted with the ability. It must be ridiculously easy for them, yet that doesn't mean we should hate it!

Dubstep on youtube is awesome, it's where I find everything.
Well see their argument about dubstep is that anyone, from a Jock on a football team to a hobo, can make dubstep/electronica. Not just the birds that are naturally gifted with the ability. Their point is that for everyone, from the Jock to the hobo to the musically inclined bird, making dubstep/electronica is ridiculously easy.

My opinion of dubstep? I don't really care, as long as it meets my criteria of being appropriate in a large epic battle or is a good song to listen to while making a giant TTGL sized mecha then it's fine with me. For this, Excision is one of the few dubstep artists I know that meets this criteria with just about every song he (I'll be damned if he's a she) makes.

There is a bird capable of doing Dubstep. I'd pay for who manages to make this bird sing Dubstep  :mrgreen:

Dubstep to me is just noise that really makes me deaf. It makes me tense and violent.
About 70% of all the music I hear are oldies, between the 40s and the 70s and Classic music. The rest are some rare and more recent picks here and there because of their interesting rhythm.

Music Genres that I specially don't like are Heavy metal, Death Metal, Dubstep and 98% of Techno. I might have forgotten something but I don't remember right now.

I have to say in the first place that I'm not that open minded to new music. Many people tell me "You don't like anything! You should be more open minded to music!" In my defense, I can judge a music and say if it's interesting and well made but it doesn't mean I have to like it. There's no way to force me to like it. I heard it, I don't like it, end of story.

But with the music genres I mentioned above I can't even judge the musics because I can't find sense in them. For me it's just noise, screams, bangs and whatever, just chaos. I'm unable to find a pattern or a line to follow. I know most people will criticize me but I put all those genres I hate in the same box and classify them altogether as "musics from hell".  But that's how my brain works so I can't change it  :ermm:

I honestly cannot physically understand how other people are able to like those genres and specially Dubstep, because I consider it the peak of music nonsense.
I do however respect your music tastes and choices as long as you respect mine aswell.

I'm not sure on how to react after reading that and the images and videos. I'm going with the simplest explanation and say they lost their marbles. I refuse any further analysis of whatever that is

It's just some viral marketing setup the band is using to promote their music, OP is probably a member of the band.

Marketing? I sure hope they are repelling more people then attracting.

Here's another armored beast

A SHW with a big frontal armor. Its main weapon are 5 different sized pole spikes powered by a small JX burst motor. The pole spikes have different sizes on purpose so that every spike can effectively hit the opponent as shown in pic 2. It has 2 additional passive burst motors, hidden below the armor, used only to upright the bot and they have 100% effectiveness on doing so. The bot has some good wedges and good speed but average agility, which compromised many battles. The cutting teeth also have a job. They stop the opponent from climbing over Fortifier and keeps them at the perfect spot to be hammered by its main weapon. And the teeth do that job very well. It has its triumphs but overall it is not a great battle bot.

It has Titanium 3mm, btw. I always forget pointing this out.

>Great armor;
>Fast;
>Good wedginess;
>100% working self righting mechanism;

>Lacks weaponry for a SHW;
>Lacks destruction effectiveness;
>Severely compromised by its average agility.

Align the wheels!

In many cases the wheels wobble due to a tiny misplacement of the attachment point, which makes them look out of place. If the motors inside are aligned, then the wheels are too. But seeing the wheels as the only reference can be misleading.

Nightlash, a combo of Nightmare and Backlash:
(Image removed from quote.)
So yeah, cambered wheels, nightmare style and split paintjob. Pretty neat in my opinion. Oh and its a LW.

I made an armored HW just like that, 2 months ago. It had 2 of those blades instead. It wasn't efficient so I deleted it...

I was hoping for some more round tips for the structure. The razors are too weak and irons only deal damage in the tip, which makes it useless in this case. Honestly, I think maces are the best option here. They are not too long weapons and have decent HP

I didn't think irons had normals... And don't they have a concussion value along with some piercing?

I think irons do have normals... Well at least there's nothing in the description that points otherwise, I'm not sure
irons dont have normals

Huh... Never noticed. Maybe because I used Irons only 3 times in my entire RA2 carrier  :rolleyes:
Thanks

Ditch the steel extenders and use beaters. :P

I think the maces aren't exposed enough now, imo.

By the 2 and 3 you mean 3 and 5 right?

Yes, sorry. I usually just think as armor X number 1 (1mm), 2, 3 and 4 and not by it's thickness.

Or just dump in another battery and use small control board.

Well, I'll be damned... The simplest solution and I only got things more complicated. Also I remembered the extenders that attach the maces and switched them from aluminum to steel and voila
