Why do you have a pic of yourself that looks like it was taken by a professional modeling agency?

General Support / Re: how do I hide components?« on: October 08, 2014, 12:43:20 PM »in the component .txt file, search for a "hidden = X" line, where X is either 0, 1 or 2. If there is one change X to 2.No, you're really not understanding me. I want this so (like in sage's tutorial) it's a the same component but a different skin and not overwriting the original but not in a drop down menu. Make your duplicate and drop it into the styles menu just like Sage's tutorial says. But, skip the step where you make the dropdown menu. When you want to use this component, build the robot like normal, but use the unskinned version of the component in question. Then, use BFe to swap it out for the skinned version. 685

They don't get to keep it if they miss their goal. But I wouldn't call it getting "screwed over;" it's only fair that they don't get to keep the money if they won't be able to deliver on their promise.

I think they'll want a full rollcage, and won't let you enter with that one in your link. If I'm not mistaken, the purpose of the rule is to keep their ceiling from getting damage - a damaged ceiling is a lot worse than a damaged floor.

As long as it's going to someone who can use it, I'm happy. Good luck to them, hope my contribution can help.Well, the event ticket's no good for me, but I'll certainly support Getting the show on the air. Would it be bad to try and sell the ticket? 688

Flying robots are allowed, but exposed propellers might not be. You should probably double check the rules.

I hope you know that he didn't actually type that, he just used a "complaint letter maker" where you enter some names and it spits out a big long speech...kinda like Mad Libs.

Lu Tze's pack was the first I downloaded and those inifinite batteries were indispensable to replica biilding. I wish I'd gotten a chance to thank her personally.

Real Robotics Discussion / Re: MIT Mini Maker Faire« on: October 04, 2014, 04:52:20 PM »Match 1: Paired against Brandon, what are the odds? 1 in 7. I'm a mathematician, not a robotics expert. He hit me once, and the batteries popped out. I let him lay into me for a good 30 seconds before tapping out. Front wedge is crumpled so badly we have to lose it, but to its credit, D-12 survived the entire time length of the other 2 matches. Match 2: Spongebob. Somehow that bot has the same amount of pushing power as me. Also it's sturdier than it looks - I'm slamming into the legs again and again but they won't give. I was still getting a feel for the controls so I confused left for right a couple times. Judges give it to Spongebob. The Rumble: Me, an AW spinner, an AW wedge, and the empty Spongebob shell. I bash the hell out of Spongebob to get revenge, manage to get in the way of the spinner. At some point, both AW's have gotten stuck in the wall. I help out the wedge, but no amount of bumping can free the spinner (It's a VS with a ballpoint pen for a support). I split the rest of the time between smacking Spongebob, and sticking & freeing the wedge from the wall. Great fun. I practically begged the organizer to do it again next year. We drew a great crowd, and MIT is already known for robotics, so I do hope this is the beginning of bringing the scene over here. Nocturne's fight against that duct tape bot was my favorite - lots of great destruction and parts everywhere. It was an early fight, and nothing topped it. As Badnik said, I did in fact get a trophy, for D12 being the only Beetle in the rumble. It's a real great souvenir, and I've put it on the mantle in the front hall. Quite the conversation starter. Thanks again to everyone who made this all possible. 693

Are you absolutely sure you didn't change anything you shouldn't have? This kind of problem can't have been cause just by copying some bot files.
Since you're new I recommend the most basic solution- replace your entire AI folder with a clean one form the zip file of Wham's AI pack. If you feel like doing an experiment and youve got time to kill, go to your corrupted AI folder and check each "Teamx" folder. Each one should have six files called bot0 through bot5. My guess is that one of them's missing or has the wrong name. 698

All the usual weird add on stuff from the RW games? If any of the teams you're featuring have some kind of decoration that's supposed to break off for crowd appeal - like Kronic's spikes or Mighty Mouse's ears - that's what I'd love to see in "extras." 700
Off-Topic Discussion / Re: Hey I got a question for yall.« on: September 30, 2014, 11:34:19 AM »I'm making a game for my game design class, and I was wondering:I don't care as long as it's a good game. I guess I'd want some assurance that the gameplay is on par with normal games, and there aren't any in game commercials masquerading as unskippable cutscenes or long loading times. I gues the short answer is, really sell the game mechanics, and people will want to play it. |
