It still took eight months to declare a champion :P

But hey, at least it wasn't A YEAR AND TWO SECONDS.

Discussion / Re: Should R4 have won BBEANS5?
« on: August 15, 2010, 01:39:05 AM »
OF COURSE R4 should have won! It was clearly a better design that fought and defeated all of its other competition handily only to come up short because of bad luck and cheap tricks! And is there a more deserving builder than its designer? I don't think so - the guy who built R4 is the smartest and most awesome person on the forums bar none!

All sarcasm aside, you can luck your way through small tourneys but not big ones like BBEANS. Any flaws your bot has will eventually get exposed and generally you will get as far as you deserve to. I think Firebeetle completely deserved his victory and in fact should have gotten it sooner since R4's comeback in the very first battle was incredibly fortunate. FB should have won that match and wrapped up BBEANS right there. At the end of the day, Seism 13 had better wedges, meaning it was a better bot head-to-head. There have been certain fights that I feel my bots should have won in other tourneys, but the BBEANS 5 final is not one of them. But I appreciate the recognition :D

I voted "yes" to the poll BTW, even though my real vote is for no. Hey, I can't not vote for myself xD

Looks like it would lack the KO power Kepher had due to nearly zero KE in the weapons. Mabye put spinners on the top two arms? Looks good other than that.

Discussion / Re: Stacking outside the chassis
« on: August 14, 2010, 12:30:12 PM »
I've done it in DSL with skirt hinges before, but only because I didn't have enough room inside my chassis.

In stock I've only got baseplate anchors to exostack (good term Somebody) and they're kind of hit-and-miss. I've also got a control board to do it once.

In DSL perhaps a rule of thumb should be that if the component exostacked appears when fighting (like piglets and NPC's) then it should be okay. If it's invisible when fighting, it's not allowed. This allows Mags (like on Mike's new LW) to be used like piglets and NPC's.

It's the beard. Being a couple hundred years old I'm suprised you have a computer, let alone one that's using Windows and not DOS or something :P

Also, I was going to put Inf in instead of you, but I have no idea how I'd draw him in stick-figure form >.>

Chatterbox / Re: Dreams
« on: August 14, 2010, 11:55:32 AM »
In my dreams I usually end up turning into a dinosaur at the end. I have no idea why.

The most bizzarre dream I've ever had was that I peed on a tree growing outside of our house. The tree died the next day and I felt really bad about it, but my parents didn't know that I'd killed it. Thinking that we now needed a new tree to replace that one, they held auditions in our backyard to see who would be the new tree. Lined up across the yard were dozens of people dressed in pink ballet costumes bobbing up and down chanting "I'm a little cherry tree, I'm a little cherry tree." I was walking down the row when my parents stopped at one - Arnold Schwartzenegger. Just then all of them started bobbing up and down really fast and flailing their arms around and they all took off into the sky, flying until they were out of sight. Then I went inside my house which was all of a sudden a Jurassic jungle and I was a T-rex.

There was another time I dreamed I was Goku from Dragon Ball Z except I couldn't fly :/

Joe, it was one tournay. In eight months. It was slooooooooowwwwwww :P

Also,

Congrats to the winner - there was some really tough competition and they deserved the win.

And thanks to Sage for putting in his time and effort to host (even though it did take a year and two seconds). NOW IF ONLY YOUR BUDDY HAD AN ATTENTION SPAN LONG ENOUGH TO FINISH BRAWL OF THE BUILDERS. I HAVE UNFINISHED BUSINESS WITH YOU >:O

I had a really nice one I had made for the alpha of one of Inf's projects, I don't know what happened to it. Inf or Sage might have a copy of it somewhere.

I have a copy of Re-Stocked (which you made it for). It's puuuuuurdy  :gawe:

And Clickbeetle, I think you made the wrong call in the Star Dust vs. WSS? match:

My mistake. In my mind, the control board and chassis are basically the same  - hit the chassis enough and the bot stops working.

I second this notion :D

L4D is a great multiplayer game, and HL2 is probably the best single player ever...

I think I'll go with HL2.

Well guys, I'm off on vacation for nine days tomorrow so no more bots for a bit. I'll have my laptop with me, so I'll still be kicking around the forums periodically.

To California!! :D
