When are we closing the RA3 subforum?
We can't delete the budding ra3 showcases, as bad as RA3 is.

Chatterbox / Re: Robot Arena 3 v1.1 update patch released.« on: May 31, 2016, 03:24:20 PM »Did the update get jammed up or something? They want to deliver vast amounts of updates over the Internet. And again, the Internet is not something that you just dump something on. It's not a big truck. It's a series of tubes. And if you don't understand, those tubes can be filled and if they are filled, when you put your RA3 updates in, it gets in line and it's going to be delayed by anyone that puts into that tube enormous amounts of anime, enormous amounts of anime. By "anime" I assume you mean an euphemism for hentai ? 663
Modifications / Re: NAR AI v3.1 for DSL 2.2 - Initial Version - Building in Progress« on: May 31, 2016, 02:21:07 PM »
Red Zone is now complete. Also, I am now adding bot types after completed bots.
If you want to help, know that I will build the bots in the order that they are listed, so since I'm done with Red Zone, the next in my building spree are Grog and the other bots in PREHISTORIC. 664
DSL TC Showcases / Re: Naryar's DSL showcase - Building for NAR AI - expect bot dumps« on: May 31, 2016, 02:11:54 PM »![]() RED ZONE is now nearly finished. I only need to insert them into the AI folder, and set bindings. Third Sentinel - Basic flipper, really, in the lining of Second Sentinel. 2 betas, 6 PC625's, dual mag drive, 3mm titanium, and it has quite a bit of front armor while having decent speed. Surveillance - RED ALERT's little brother. I think it has 3mm plastic. Magmotor drive. Quite a bit of weapons for a LW poker as well (70kg in total) which is good. Watch Tower - A clamp. NPC drive, 3mm Alu armor. It is quite powerful and clamps well - however it is seriously unstable and cannot self-right, so it spends most of it's time inverted. And yes, it is obviously a MW at 399.0 due to smartzones. I changed it to MW anyways in the bot file. 665
DSL TC Showcases / Re: WenXiangLee DSL Showcase« on: May 31, 2016, 04:49:50 AM »
same as your stock/custom bots : giant wheels, too much batteries, more than likely overkill on chassis armor.
if you ignore our advice, at one point we're gonna stop giving advice because it will be pointless. and this is a ridiculously undersized weapon for a HW. need better motors, need more weapon weight. ballasts are only useful for when you need counterweights or need to improve a wedge. get rid of them. 666
DSL TC Showcases / Re: Naryar's DSL showcase - Building for NAR AI - expect bot dumps« on: May 30, 2016, 05:53:40 PM »Honestly, i've been thinking about maybe changing some components, calling it EMERGENCY and be done with it :PSounds good, keeping bots in the arena and annoying the hell out of them is very EMERGENCY like. As I see it, Sentinel should be of average speed but focusing on flipping power by quite a bit. And maybe front armor. 667
DSL TC Showcases / Re: Naryar's DSL showcase - Building for NAR AI - expect bot dumps« on: May 30, 2016, 05:28:35 PM »Flippers tend to be better at getting bots out of arenas if you have them steeper. With this setup you'll mostly flip straight up/back over the bot. Well yes, it's not very Sentinel-like. Honestly, i've been thinking about maybe changing some components, calling it EMERGENCY and be done with it :P 668
DSL TC Showcases / Re: Naryar's DSL showcase - Building for NAR AI - expect bot dumps« on: May 30, 2016, 05:21:39 PM »![]() the new scout. it has plastic, not sure if 3mm or 5mm. i attempted to improve the previous design which was very meh as a flipper. (it didn't even inverted bots but just tossed them forward) now a different breed of complex flipper. well, this one flips but... well, it's literally awful in battle. unstable, flips itself half the time, the flipper's not wide enough. But considering how it's Scout, a bot well remembered for sucking, i think it was inevitable. and now for the sentinel rebuild ![]() Watchful Sentinel. Think it has 3mm steel, so less armor and probably less powerful than the previous one, but it's fast and it's twice as low as the previous one, so more stable in general and it will be able to actually pose a threat to HS and SnS. Still it IS quite powerful as a flipper and I get some very nice flips from time to time. it's just a matter of positioning. I am now mostly done with RED ZONE. I think I'm going to build a LW hammer poker and a MW clamp (LW clamp = surefire way to fail at building). Not sure if I will skin them and AI them beforehand, though. 669
General Support / Re: DSL2.2 Events don't work« on: May 30, 2016, 01:45:31 PM »I was playing DSL 2.2, and I went to the Events, then clicked on the event "Blades". When it started, none of the other robots moved, only mine. I bumped into a bot and the game froze and crashed. Anyone know how to fix this? IIRC that is due to bad AI.py's. 670

No one but the devs actually KNOWS if it is indeed a sh**ty "finished" game released for a cash grab, or that they actually have been rushed to release something that is obviously in the very early stages of development and shouldn't have been released that early because it was quite obviously not ready for release.
And we will most likely not know it unless a trusted source leaks some info. Point of it being : Some of you people should chill. Yeah, RA3's state as released is bad, very bad even. However, it IS in early access, we believe they can improve this game to being playable. You have every right to complain about the game being bad but do it in a somewhat civil fashion (by giving out bug reports, as an example). I and the rest of the staff are getting sick of this RA3 drama and we may just start warning people who are sh**posting/borderline flaming/being drama queens. 673

the actual good thing about RA3 is that it brought all the old members and veterans.
however, it brought them and broke dreams, so... 674

too slow for a gut ripper, drum honestly is not needed (find a way for your FS spinners to keep the bot on top). weapon setup is better than mine, however, mostly since it's V-shaped.
unsure about it having a secondary wedge and no primary wedge. (by secondary i mean something that lifts bots into the snappers, and primary i mean something that is flat to the ground) looks underpowered as well. i mean, it has 1 motor more than mine has, yet a bit less batteries. it'll suddenly die after a few minutes : trust me. plow is honestly not needed since the spinners should hold the enemy bot. the design uses a lot of weight on motors and batteries and chassis and discs, and THEN it needs to be fast so it also uses a lot of weight on motors. so you need to cut corners a lot regarding weight. extender work is OK (i dont feel it is especially messy) but could be a little better. otherwise not bad. 676

That's a pointless bump, but this tournament needs to move forward so it will have that purpose at least.
So what are the news ? Did battledutchman change it's bot, or is it byebot time ? 679

I downloaded the whole RA2 yesterday from that link, however, the first download was incomplete like yours. 680

lol it's just four times better than mine
edit: wait, nevermind. you need more batteries because the batteries have changed quite a bit in DSL 2.2. I would go for either four ant batteries or a WP836E. |
