DSL TC Showcases / Re: Domanating's Showcase of nonsense« on: February 15, 2013, 12:13:27 PM »It looks awesome. The only things I would change though are the exposed motors and the top weapons, try using an overhead saw like I did on renekton. I tryed doing as you said without changing the design much but I think I would have to make another from scratch to better accommodate the changes. Like this, it looks unrealistic, a bit too messy and naked from behind, lol 644

Looks light I might have kept my word
![]() SHW hugging bot. It's very powerful and can take out opponents very quickly. It is also very effective against horizontal spinners, easily pinning them against a corner and stop their weapons. It cannot upright itself but it has the advantage of being wide enough to make it very hard to flip. With only 5mm plastic armor it isn't that strong for its weight class. This bot was made to be seen as an IRL bot. But I'm not sure it's a little too complex for that. Tell me your opinion. >Very fast and agile >Very good weaponry >Hard to flip >Wide >Unable to upright itself >Weak armor >Exposed back motors 645

Thank you for compliments, m8. I do believe however that everyone can be equally skilled in bot building. It's the same game, the same components... You just need to picture it already built in your mind and try to accomplish your idea in the game. I tend to follow the most complex ideas I come up with, often resulting in lack of effectiveness in battles. I do scan through all showcases (Stock, DSL, Custom) for new posts and new bots for inspiration. But sometimes I just have to cease building and refresh my ideas or else I get frustrated and won't be able to build at all. That's how my brain is wired to work ![]() I might put something tomorrow, but just might 647

He's too young, imo
At his age I was a selfish bastard. I'm pretty sure I would behave like him if I was 11. I do admire members of similar ages for being so polite. That's something rare to see in today's generation. 648

Thank you all
![]() Nice bot, you probably couldn't kill TimberWolf because it has some insane armor (like 10mm tite or something). Ah... So that's why it was so hard to destroy it. Chose the wrong opponent for the video then. Just came here to say that I'll have to cease building bots for while because I'm lacking inspiration and patience right now. I get frustrated faster when I fail in an idea and basically rage quit the game instead of trying new ways. That's an indication that I need to stop. I'll still be around making scattered and pointless comments, though ![]() 649

There's nothing more random than Internet. Hoping for people not to insult you no matter how wonderful you are, is pure illusion.
You can't be sensitive in the Internet. Those are the people the internet trolls are hoping to find. You can do 2 things in these situations: >Play along (carefully) >Ignore Simple and straight forward 650

New bot inspired on Scrap Daddy's SHW-Angler
It is certainly not good at all in battle but I think it is a nice idea. In the video I battle a weaponless LW IRL bot because every time I battle even an AW with weapons my bot loses. To make matters worse I could not destroy that LW in time. To show you how bad it is in real battles ![]() http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R0ET2wmfDus&feature=youtu.be#ws 653

The mods in general are now safer and less confusing so it's less likely that you'll screw the game up. When I first found this, the community was still very young and the mods were much harder to install. You had to add lines to text files and go to independent folders to add or remove files. There are still mods that require manual installing but way less. I still recommend you to backup the game, though. You never know
![]() True, the ME-262 motors are very weak and catch fire fairly easily. The pilot usually jumps out when the one of the motors catches fire. Ah yes, GTA SA and its tanks that take flight with every shot. I also loved to install WWII fighters and strafe the cities with them. Just like Il-2, lol. Or flying over the secret American base and see how long I could survive ![]() Now I sacrificed SA for GTAIV and it's superior graphics and physics. I've never been a big fan of racing games though. The only racing games I have are 'Midtown Madness 2' and 'TrackMania Nations Forever'. If you like racing games TrackMania is a must have. 656
Existing Games / Re: IL-2 Sturmovik« on: February 02, 2013, 05:41:48 PM »I'm using a MiG-3ud (not sure if that's what you meant) it's a fighter, not a jet :Phttp://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Me_262 This is the Me-262. In game, at regular speed it's faster than my MiG (even when in emergency power) and at Ace difficulty, you just can't shake it off. A propeller fighter vs a jet fighter? You're insane, lol. The only way to effectively engage the jet with that Mig is if you're flying considerably higher than the jet itself. If not it will be very hard. The only WWII propelled fighter that could compete against the ME-262 at the same altitude was the P-51 Mustang. You will be overloaded with Mods there ![]() If you intend to install mods I very very very VEEEERY highly recommend that you backup your entire game folder. Personal experience speaking. I had to reinstall Il-2 about 4 times because I messed up the game with badly installed mods. 657

In game, at regular speed it's faster than my MiG (even when in emergency power) and at Ace difficulty, you just can't shake it off. I'm perfectly aware of what jet planes you meant. I suppose you're using the jet MIG-9 but those are just unreliable. The German jets were very good. Well the HS-132 has never flown in real life, though. But they are usually easy to shake off by making sharp turns. They go too fast and cant make the turn as sharp as yours do. But you'll have a hard time catching them. Here you go, m8 http://www.sas1946.com/main/index.php 658
DSL TC Showcases / Re: Domanating's Showcase of nonsense« on: February 02, 2013, 09:44:13 AM »Love it. How well does it do against HS?>IRL I couldn't have said it any better. It can take out some HS but not many of them and those it can it's mostly luck. It is, however good against almost all other types. But once flipped over, it's game over. Hardly any bot I've built so far can compete against horizontal or shell spinners, except my own of those types. 659
Existing Games / Re: IL-2 Sturmovik« on: February 02, 2013, 07:07:39 AM »Ah, simulator games. That I dunno.Yeah, the game requires a lot of practice. It took me 2 years to be just a decent pilot in multiplayer. I started playing Il-2 when i was just 10 years old. So it's been 9 years with this game already and I still love itI'm willing to contest to that last part; I've seen pretty large modding communities before. Yes, those games have insanely huge modding communities. But I meant for the Simulator genre, sorry for the misunderstanding, there. Forget the single missions and the career mode. They are boring as ![]() Well, the jet planes are basically like prop planes but, with jets, lol. I don't see where's the difference in difficulty. Maybe you should be more specific. Most massive planes and some fighters only the computer can fly but the mods allow you to fly all of them. The Pe-8 however, with the new 4.11.1 version is now flyable for players. 660
