Ironforge TC Showcases / Re: TRB does ironforge (The other TRB)
« on: November 15, 2015, 03:44:10 PM »
I actually tried something like that, only with the penta-connector. The side razors were too low to hit anything and the one on top got wiped out really quickly by HSs. The FS you posted is awesome though, if the bottom one a HW?

Yeah - an unshowcased one, I might add. I should probably show that off... Just testing out an evolution of it right now, actually  :gawe:

Anyways, this is how I connected the plows:

An upside-down 65 degree baseplate connector to a 20cm connector, 1 rotation tick to the inside to the plows, which are slightly angled.

Oh, I did something different. I attached it to a skirt hinge, and then angled the skirt hinge to where it needed to be. Your way's more weight-efficient, though.

Thoughts?

It's a good setup, but I prefer to use this:

That's a 10cm Dark Extender, with all the attachment points having a razor on them. You can remove the razor sticking out of the top if you want it to be used sort of like a ramp, like so:

I really like the armaments on your robot, though. I'mma go mess around with your setup, see what I can get going. How did you attach the plows?

Rope. Bullets. Suicide. It won't fix anything.
My love is gone.
The sky is broken.
And I am lost.

Did someone call me?

Wow, this is some serious autism we've got brewing in this here thread. Y'all should invest in a nice long peice of rope, and some tying lessons.

Modifications / Re: ReForged AI Pack - Development
« on: October 11, 2015, 02:11:28 PM »
Well, October 5th has passed, and for those who haven't finished their bots they wanted to submit, I apologize.  Perhaps in an update later down the road, I can let you submit an improvement.  I'll finish up the last remaining bots for the first release.

When will the first release be... well, released?
Probably within four or five days.  Why is that?  Two reasons.  First off, one I won't explain just yet, and secondly and most importantly, I have completed the final three bots needed for the pack.

Now hold the phone.  I still need to put the final touches in the right areas an tweak a couple things.  For example, I will ask nicely for a few Beta Testers to double check the AI and make sure I haven't goofed up anywhere or made a weird error for the first release.

Yup.  I plan on releasing this soon, but not after some AI Beta testing.  If you can kindly PM me whether from GTM or Skype or whatever you prefer, I'll give you personal access to the AI to make sure everything is good to go.  I'll provide more details in a PM.  Keep in mind, I will NOT provide everyone early access to this, just the ones who know AI knowledge from ranging from at minimum wage standards to an AI wizard (not like the RA2 wizard Sage) who knows every bit of AI top to bottom.

tl;dr:  I need some Beta testers for the AI.

Sure, no problems with that. Hell, I'll beta test for you if you want.

Looking awesome, man. Think you could add the other wheels from AoD as well?

Modifications / Re: Robot Wars RA2 - OFFICIAL MOD
« on: September 17, 2015, 08:33:03 PM »
Front page this mod. NOW.

EDIT: My god I love this.

2 gripes I found:

A few of the Axebots (Thor, for instance) have a tendency to havok.
Xterminator 2's axe is too weak, in terms of DPS and hitpoints. In fact, a lot of the RW2 replicas are weaker in terms of DPS and hitpoints than the Roaming Robots bots. What's up with that?

Few issues. Should be with you within an hour. The others will keep you updated on their progress.

Last-minute bugs? It's okay, we'll wait.

I have to say lads, it's been a brilliant journey getting to know the gametechmods community again after a decade and finally delivering something for you all to have and enjoy.

To think Wham started this back in 2013, having no idea what it would turn into when everything was passed down to me in 2014 to join my work at the time. We joined the Official Robot Wars brand, that changed a lot for us, in quite a few ways it meant we couldn't do what we wanted to do... But in another it opened things up a hell of a lot more, getting roboteers from across the globe contributing.  2015 was a slow start but with new methods learned and new techniques developed, we managed to bring more to the mod than previously. Now we're almost there and despite a few niggles here and there and wishing we had more time before the deadline... (That's right, the release date was planned for quite a while haha) but we've made it to the end of what is only the beginning.

Don't forget we are releasing expansions and updates for this over time so head over to Facebook and like our page, all the future releases will be coming from there! And be sure to spread the word. ;)

All the best,
Adam

Reading this has actually made me very emotional. I've been waiting for the next big breakthrough in RA2 for qutie some time, and this is the first TRUE TC mod since DSL 2.1 - DSL3, Ironforge, JoeBlo's old project... all very valiant attempts, and bloody good fun to play, but not a true TC mod that makes the game feel fresh again. This is the first big breakthrough in close to 12 years, and this game and community thoroughlyy deserve it.

I look forward to rekindling the weeks I spent messing around wtih the replicas, like how I did when I first found out about DSL 2.1 - every single person who worked on this mod, I salute you. You've done the GTM community a great service, and I'm honoured to have stayed around long enough to see this come to fruition. I personally have been waiting for this day for nearly 4 years, and I know some people have been waiting much, much longer.  Here's hoping it'll spike the popularity of RA2 similar to how DSL did when it released.

I know NerdCubed would be very interested in playing this mod, but sadly I'm unable to get in contact with him. Getting NerdCubed to review and play through this would generate a massive spike in traffic, and is needed. Somebody, contact him, tell him a true Robot Wars experience is here.

Heretic, Craaig, Dalek and the others... God bless you. You've worked you deserve every word of praise you get from this. If you ever come down to Bradford, I'll buy you a pint.

Game Development / Re: Robot Combat prototype in progress
« on: August 24, 2015, 05:39:22 AM »
Occasionally there's some physics glitches but it seems to work well so far. Only problem I have with it is that Private Pain seems to lose somewhat randomly (once I tapped the wall and it said cenotaph won) and you can still use the flipper after what I presume i supposed to be its Co2 tank rupturing.

also, it seems Cenotaph does not have a cap on how quickly it can spin. For some bizarre reason, this only seems to happen when it's inverted.

The reason why Private Pain loses randomly is because it's flipper is way too fragile. It's entire flipper setup can break down from bumping into a wall.

Also, it's wheels are too strong, and Cenotaph seems to be indestructable right about now.
