Rob, my second attempt at an entry: https://gametechmods.com/forums/index.php?action=downloads;sa=downfile&id=322 If it's glitching, i'd expect it to be because of the IRL extender pack on my copy being glitchy, but IDK.

What is this banter war anyhow? It it an exhibition? A competitive tournament that adds extra presentation? A modern day AON Bot Wars?

It's a cross between Robot Wars (uses heats, and is inspired) , AON Bot Wars (youtube RA2 tournament series with neat editing) and a gtm tournament (AI'd and people can enter bots, not just the host).

Yeah, go to a magmotor / twmr. That should give enough power. Might bump you up to MW, but if thats the case then see if you can get lighter wheels, replace the mini control board with the blue control board, and shrink the chassis slightly. I presume this is DSL-s, but if IRL try and spice it up with a skin or angled weapon.

Stock isn't going to suddenly die. It's on lifesupport till someone makes something out of it, but it's alive.
DSL-S died a sudden death when DSL 2.2 came out and was obviously built for IRL.
RWRA2 is non-existant at this point.
DSL IRL is thriving.
Retooled is in development, and looks promising.
Ironforge is inactive, but could be resurrected. It would be a shame to see it die after all the work that went into it.

Ctrl and Shift, Badger. I think it would be hard to build a robot when you can't raise or rotate components.
Again, you can rebind the buttons
Or you could use a laptop. There is a difference between innovation and convolution.

I have a linx 8 tablet and with a usb controller, mapped the mouse to buttons and it works perfectly with the original ra2, won't run the mods at all although i can steam stream pretty well
Interesting, but I don't think its worth it. To each their own.

Portable RA2 would be great but its a 13 year old game or older and Laptops are pretty much the only way you can take RA2 on the go as they can run it, Tablets might but they have low memory space and might no be able to handle it. BUT there is a Gaming Tablets so who knows
I doubt tablets will work unless they have a inbuilt keyboard, and even then if your going to play ra2 on a tablet with a keyboard. And at that point, just use a laptop I'd say.

portable ra2 would be miserable
+1 this isn't really worth it. you want portable ra2? sorry, laptop or nothing. RA2 was never built for pure controller support, only for occasional joystick/controller use in bot wiring. that's it. not worth it imo.
Oh boohoo, can't we have our own fun?
Yes, if you wish to for some reason. I'm simply stating the fact that's RA2 will be terrible  for controllers. And it seems like it would be hard to get the game on or off the system, and it's ultimately not worth it in my opinion.
I can imagine the Steam controller being useable, since it's not too dissimilar to a trackpad and RA2 is playable on a trackpad.

I suppose. But what about the keyboard? If you have a keyboard you may as well just use a trackpad and at that point you're over complicating playing ra2.

If you need help with RA2CF post a thread up in Technical Support, they should be able to help you get it working.
As for the bot itself, attach some armor on the sides. Also, install ra2cf, so you can make more intricate armor plating that surrounds the robot.
