if you want people to use rarely used components i suggest going with a robot cookbook approach :P
I was thinking only allowing certain components such and only Omni extenders as base plate anchors and Piglets for drive.

Nicsan's is good because it is unrealistic but yours is basically a 2 Iron rammer. Irons fail in DSL and it will easily be outweaponed. But it does have decent armour and drive.

Yes, DSL Bars are good.
Mount the alum extenders side ways to attach 2 weapons to each one.
