Thank you everyone! I really appreciate it. The coding for AI seems a bit intimidating, but I'm willing to give it a shot. I remember seeing stuff about AI Packs as well, but I have no idea how those work.
Coding it yourself might take some time, but what most people do is picking a AI(basically you tell the game X bot has Y ai and some extra variables like limiting top speed and turning) file from an AI pack, so it's only pick what you want, most bots(unless you try crazy designs) are covered with the AI packs(the wiki mentions the one that you should get) and the forums have a help thread about that as well(in case stuff doesn't work/odd designs).

Yeah, think this is finished, most of the matches that I wanted to see were done and all my talk probably dragged this on way longer than it should have. Looking forward to your next tournament.

Other people ninja'd me to the reply but nice seeing that. Was there a Conundrum 3,4 or 5 as well, I see the project is finished but if you do your next drum bot, any plans to sticking to that three wheel drive or would 2wd with more weapons be better?(it's interesting how such contests might give people new ideas).
The drum sure was strong. As for the glitch, I'm actually ok with that, after seeing the stock glitches I gotta say that I'm fine with them used, personally I still try to avoid some but burst motors clipping into other things or axle loading is fine(the first one is used by some Atomizer versions anyways, mostly because pistons are so bulky to fit inside the chassis, think the same can be said about maces) so the big difference is competitive vs non competitive designs.
So that's how that rammer looked, was wondering about it. Seeing how good Conundrum was and how you had this spare bot I really thought that you were a veteran, makes me wonder what posts you did back when you were first online. Kinda expected only 3 wheels in the tournament because of weight but hoped that some joke bots would possibly have more. I get what you mean with sliding off the top plate, I actually built something similar to test for the new tournament, having the wheels on snapper II's, did yours have about 5 seconds each time you went back into the botlab?(dunno what really happened with mine there).
One guess that I have about the wheels is that they get stuck, with F12 you can enable wireframe hitboxes, maybe you can then see what's going on(the only other thing would be that the wheels start not touching the ground). One odd glitch I once had happen during building of a different bot is that one motor didn't seem to work, so I had to disable one of 4 to drive forward, later placed all of those again and they worked flawlessly, spinning when driving backwards still seems to happen common with no real way to fix. But doubt this has something to do with this.

Looks like i'm mounting the drum on a burst motor next time and making a Drum/Axe Hybrid that covers both the front and the back
Return of Drumbledore? Also I might have found a way to get Snapper II's more stable again. The drum is the secret to the wedgyness... I feel like a lot of us know how to create the "most efficient" wedge, so a lot of bots tend to lock wedges nowdays. I don't think Conundrum has a better wedge than Sealion or Late Night Aberration, but when the bots wedge lock the drum just grinds away at the opposing wedge until it's gone and then Conundrum can swoop under easily for the win. I definitely think drum style weapons should see more use.
And as a final side note, the thumbnails in my above videos youtube just created for me and you're right, you have to verify your account with them, but when you upload a video it gives you a choice of 3 random stills, the trick is to try and pick one that doesn't give the result away
Is it really that? Technically if something gets under the drum it shouldn't instantly be removed, instead the other bot should keep on pushing it's wedge under the other, however something under the drum keeps it there(bot not having enough speed to push?) after that it just gets ripped off and is gone. Best Wedges? I only know about the "place it a bit below the chassis" trick, people say that DDT's are the best, yet I see Snapper 2's used and II's(which are apparently the worst but very good if put far back?). There's also been discussion about normal vs Emergency wedges(with normal being better) but I think a lot of that depends on how they're used. Yeah I knew about that, back in the day it had 5-8 selections, also thought that google+ now required other stuff to confirm your YT account.

Everyone already said everything to this, AI vs AI doesn't seem to be possible in Team HQ so you'll have to do it via Exhibition Mode(anything other than the bot repair can be done that way however). For AI'ing(making your own bots fight) best check the wiki as well as getting those smartzones: https://gametechmods.com/forums/index.php?action=downloads;sa=view;down=237 (smartzones are basically used for detecting if a bot is inside it, so hammers and flippers work right).

I'll enter if someone needs a team partner. Best to talk to me via PM about the bot. First thought that we only had 2 days to sign up(could've sworn that the post said 20th July) but seeing how it's a month I'll most likely enter.

Status Report: My bot is basically done, however I'm having problems with it flipping itself over at the beginning of the match, will try to fix it.

Hey thanks! I wasn't sure anyone would actually do any videos. Would you mind if I added these to the OP?
Conundrum really wrecked in those fights. You must have given one of a sacrifice to the wedge gods.
Am I the only one that notices that everyone writes Tastes like Sparkle while the bot doesn't seem to have that in the name? :P
The bot's name, in game, is "Tastes like spakle", and I've tried to remember to stick to that throughout the tournament.
Kinda forgot to mention it before, but I did read the rules for this, single elmination sure makes thing quicker and avoids long boring matches, so I can agree with that(maybe if you had direct elimination without losers bracket this wouldn't be such an issue, at least not after the first round?) looking forward to more hosted tournaments from you.
I like to either do best of 3 matches or double elimination. Single elimination + best of 1 feels too short and kinda unfair to people who get unlucky, and Double elimination + best of 3 can start to drag IMO.
I planned on doing a few but since I didn't have fitting soundtrack and no way to do the YT splashes(no idea how you get thumbnails now, think you need to confirm your account with a phone number? not going to happen) wasn't sure if it would be a good idea, might do them sometime soon or on the weekends. Yeah you got the names right, everyone else(I almost did that as well :P) calls it Sparkle, makes me wonder if the creator made a typo. Double elimination(going to 3 rounds if each bot gets a win) is probably the best, 3 matches shows if the bot possibly had a chance(higher probabilty of a successful fight), but like you said it drags on.

You using Win7's movie maker or higher? Dunno what settings you used but if you export for HD display you get the best quality(sound sounds a bit lower quality than usual in your upload, but it's only barely noticeable, still good quality otherwise) Man that drum, if a wedge gets under that it will be just shredded away. Guess the only way to get under it would be via the side. Shows how good the bot is. Hoping to see some more matches of F.I.V.E.S
Am I the only one that notices that everyone writes Tastes like Spa rkle while the bot doesn't seem to have that in the name? :P

Appreciate the direct link bud.
I'll see if I can upload a couple matches tonight...
As for the videos
Genuinely annoyed at Tastes like Sparkle there lol... Conundrum has really exceeded my expectations here, that wedge glides straight under everything!
It felt like Sparkle was mad at Conundrum for wailing on him for the opening half and as soon as the back was turned, BAM. Literally. On a side note, I may go down in your estimations here, but Stock was my go to version of choice. I first joined the forums around 2010, but first played the game when I was around 14 ('2006ish I think?), but this is my first time playing competitively and actually fighting another bot from fellow forum users.
RA2 wiki as well as most fans "back defense is useless, AI's never attack the back of others" Condrum V7 with a drum that hits the back as well? Oh well it was just a bonus match, also Sparkle(guess it's mistyped in the splash) almost lost to Papyrus Bike .

They're team 1 and the first four bots of team 2. My idea was that you could just take the AI folder out of your copy of RA2 and paste in the AI folder I provided, then switch the folders back whenever you were done with the Tricycle Takedown bots.
Speaking of which, I should record something.
Well I did just that just now and it kept crashing whenever I launched a match... Something must be slightly tweaked in the versions I have that doesn't like your AI folder for whatever reason.
Either way, it's half past midnight here and I'm giving up for now.
Yep you need the smartzones, had the same problems trying to open up Redace's bot when he uploaded it after the tournament. Let me save you the trouble of searching the downloads page(it's under custom components) and link it here: https://gametechmods.com/forums/index.php?action=downloads;sa=view;down=237To install put the stuff from the Smart Zones V.3 folder into components. Not sure if you need Smartzone.cfz or the setting in the .cfg file(I remember adding it but now it's gone?!) also get whatever makes Starcore V3's UI have 6 instead of 3 bots, it's needed. About the bonus battles: Man Conundrum's wedges can't be stopped by anything, and the fact that Hi5 started recently(at least with stock, seems to have done Dsl bots a long time ago, returning member?) makes this even more surprising. His bots look very similar to other bots that I've seen before(not sure if it's neglected waterbug) Hoping to see Conundrum 3, 4 and 5 in his showcase soon. Too bad that Tastes like Spakle(by the way, was that supposed to be Spa rkle?) got behind it, at least Sealion Hammersmith(where the are you guys getting those names?) got another win. LNA is a really sad bot, it is built well however it only got torn apart in most of it's battles that it was in. Ah the joke rumble, from the first look I expected Weaponized Reinterverter to have stacked Zteks but those are only chicken drills. A bit surprised that I'm not serious at all can't drive upside down, but looks like Weaponized Reinterverter would've been the only one to win this because of damaging weapons, thing sure havoked a lot near the end of the match. Didn't expect more rumbles, nice. Now it was clear that it would either be Trikilla or I'm not at all serious, happy with the result even if the havok almost ruined the match. What the **** I lost three time?!
Like Genocide said, it might be because your weapons aren't moving in battles. As they're on burst motors, you probably need to look into smartzones bro
His bot has smartzones, but it's so underpowered that it can't properly swing the hammers.
OH so that's what was going on, I thought the hammers might swing in very odd ways. Think I've seen it attack with one of the side hammers once during the normal tournament, did do a few more attacks in the rumble especially against Trikilla where all hammers fired. How should the battery to ddt2 rate be anyways?
Kinda forgot to mention it before, but I did read the rules for this, single elmination sure makes thing quicker and avoids long boring matches, so I can agree with that(maybe if you had direct elimination without losers bracket this wouldn't be such an issue, at least not after the first round?) looking forward to more hosted tournaments from you.

Would it be possible to create a bot that only starts using it's second weapon once the enemy hp reaches 0 or the first weapon(set via ID) breaks down?

do you have 3 or 6 AI bots per team? just wondering because it doesn't look like you have the ui from v2 or v3 and went to straight to v4
Actually I'm building those in a modded copy of RA2 which has a better grid and height graphic making it easier to build and then export them to Starcore. I was wondering if v4 needed earlier packs, currently I have a copy of RA2 with SC1 and one that was directly patched with v4(so I only have 3 bots, thought that SC4 would make them 6 via the teams file but guess not), will patch that later.
Yeah if you grab v3 first, it has all the UI updates and stuff, then v4 just adds additional teams and bots.
I admire your style for sticking to "fair play" as it were. Let me tell you that you are not alone in some ways. I am against using hax mode and file editing your bot in Stock, but I find the odd glitch only helps with creativity. Putting the black batteries on top of each other for example means you've got more room for everything else, if that means more drive, more weapons or more armour, great!
RA2 should be fun above all, so if you have fun building replicas and sticking to "realistic" design bots without intersecting components, that's fine. You can still enter tournaments, enter competitions and challenge other members, but the bots you build will (more often than not) be at a disadvantage to the members who do use glitches and stuff and everyone here will always try and advise you how to be more "competitive", but just play the way you do - you don't have to follow anyone's advice if you don't want to!
Personally I don't mind Hax and Bot File editing as long as they are in their own league. Having a bot, which is designed to be "fair" just like the developers planned, vs something that uses all glitches and hax isn't exactly right, having them in their own categories is perfect. With that said, I will do bots like that later and do plan to enter tournaments with stock rules, however looking at some bots of the recent tournaments, they don't seem to use too many glitches(part of which is their design). As for stacking and a few other glitches, I agree it's just like you said, the space or power(in case of motors) is needed, exactly the reason why I'd like to create a more balanced stock mod so that those components are better. Doing recreations is also kind of a pain, the chassis usually needs to be really big, however in order to make proper heavyweights out of them there isn't enough space. I'd say ironforge gets the closeset with that, making components much smaller. When building one of those spinners I was quickly surprised how easy you'd reach the weight limit, only because of the discs/spinners that have 2-3 spikes placed on extenders per side. In a way it's like Sage said on the first page, it isn't the meta HS with 4 motors, VS with Snowplows, SnS or Popup, but stuff still works if it's a decent bot, that has shown when I entered the Atomizer series into Starcore1, as long as you have a working wedge, that's low enough, spinners won't hit you(which makes me thinking about a pyramid bot, but then there's space as well as hammers). The Atomizer designs are definitely not something I plan entering but there might be other bots. Of course the feedback is all optional, that's why my post wasn't directly adressed at someone, there will definitely be bots that can enter competitions while others are made on a (good) stock RA2 level. Thanks for the feedback, a bit offtopic but I do have a question about your bot, how did you get the maces as well as razors on the drums?

I don't mind hosting a few of these bonus matches if you want a hand Thrack?
Hey, that gives me an idea:
https://gametechmods.com/uploads/files/8357tricycle takedown ai.zip
Here's the AI folder from the tournament. If you'd like to, you can download it and run any matches you'd like to see (that applies to everyone, of course, not just Hi5er). If you do, record the match and post it here! I'll do some bonus matches too, but it seems like there are a lot of fights people would like to see, so this should speed things up.
Thanks, I was actually thinking about how fun it would be if tournaments had all bots released in the end. Of course I can see why this wouldn't be everyone's thing as people definitely don't want their bots to be stolen or copied, I enjoy having the bots to see how they're built as well as having them as example enemies to test if a bot would work against said design.
For some reason I didn't see the end of the video, youtube is known for cutting off the end of videos but think this one was my fault for pausing the video after seeing the win. Were the other matches a best of 3 as well with the best getting uploaded or just 1 vs 1? Sadly the main post doesn't have the rules so I don't really know.

Nice that you're doing this, didn't think that this was your first tournament(also doesn't this belong in Robot Arena 2 discussion? Then again it's probably better here than flooding that subforum with all tournament histories).
The match against Trikilla was fun to watch, almost got your robot stuck on the back with that first flip. Does this bot have driving problems? Looked like the AI had a hard time controlling it at times. Guess the bot isn't a max weight heavyweight and somewhere around 600 kg?

Got it working now(finding the dl was a bit trouble(don't think it shows up only when you search for it), but I luckly found that one day earlier when trying to AI my own stuff). Would love to see quite a lot of extra matches: I'm not at all Serious vs Papyrus Bike vs Trikilla(already requested, joke bot melee) Tastes like Spakle vs Late Night Aberration(battle of popups) Tastes like Spakle vs Late Night Aberration vs Sealion Hammersmith vs Conundrum v6(battle of wedges) Five Ideal Verbal Efforts Son vs Sealion Hammersmith Five Ideal Verbal Efforts Son vs Conundrum v6(so we can do best of 3) Disappointment Trike vs Weaponized ReInterverter(battle of spinners)
You don't have to do them all, pick the ones you'd like to do.

any chance that the bot will be available for download/view of the insides? I've been trying to do a vertical spinner but having trouble with the floor height.
Thanks but RA2(using 1.4) always crashes on import, am I missing the smartzones pack?

*sigh* It just wasn't meant to be. Ah well. I'm still amazed I got to the finals. Congrats Hi5er.
Found the bot to be amazing and gave me inspiration to change my Smasher series to use double flamethrowers(very effective so far and with only one hammer blow needed way less risk of losing those) any chance that the bot will be available for download/view of the insides? I've been trying to do a vertical spinner but having trouble with the floor height.
