Update time!
ForkFlip2 (HW): ![]() Just used the colored parts From the IRL packs to give it some colour. Ript Again! (HW): ![]() A VS STD based on the FW Big Ripto. Love that robot! Fangs (CW): ![]() Made for RoboGauntlet, did pretty good in it's group, but lost in the heat final. Front hinged flipper. Friction Saw (HW): ![]() Made for Badnicks tournament, another dustpan type robot based on SawBlaze. The Inverter (MW): ![]() ![]() Also made for Badnicks tournament, Nightmare style VS with the ability to swing it's drivetrain around for invertibility. Shield and Sword (HW): ![]() Basically a near replica of Warrior SKF, with working flipper and ring spinner. 65

Should probably update this thing, I have a few robots to show:
![]() Lock and Roll: Robot made for the IRL MW rumble challenge, based on a similar US antweight robot (). Surprised it won, since it has a very exposed chassis, but the weapon did it's job to protect it (unlike it's real life counterpart). ![]() Drop Saw: Robot made for Rob's 2nd chance tournament, but only won one fight, when the opponent went over my robot and out of the arena. It's actually a remake of another dustpan that was illegal in the tournament (Extensive use of CF). ![]() Sir-Axe-A-Ton: Was actually originally made for Rob's challange, but now is my MW entry for Swords of Glory. ![]() Speed Master: Made again with extensive use of CF, and it's a MW Ring master, that looks similar to MR Speed squared and uses the small weights to balance the STD. ![]() Son of Mariachi: Derpy joke bot, the spinner is supposed to be a sombrero (that's the joke...). LW entry for SoG. ![]() ForkFlip2: Based heavly on my previous ForkFlip robot, this time is based more on Panic Attack as it uses a secondary lifter to self right and as secondary weapon if robots go over it. Uses far to many smart zones. (I actually entered it for reddidbots at the last minute, because why not it didn't use any CF features, but it seams it was not accepted). ![]() F30: My entry for GTM Wars, based on my UK antweight robot F3. It's a flipper, and it also uses extensivly CF (thanks for allowing that Craaig!). 66

Yep, surprised that I actually won a fight, but that robot had crap wedge + being top heavy and exposed chassis on the back.

Game Development / Re: Robot combat test (Unity engine)« on: August 12, 2016, 06:33:50 PM »
100 didn't work because joints started to be too floppy, and I already increased the calculation speed, and I don't want to increase it too much.

Carbide flipping itself hitting the sphere is because it gets forced downwards and the blade then hits the ground.
Also I made sure that both robot's weights add up to 10 units of mass (100 doesn't work well), and both the sphere and cube are also 10 mass. 71

News:
Did some more work on this, changed a fiew things, added a new robot, more cameras, and added some textures and lighting for the arena (to look more like a studio arena). I think the next robot I'm making is a flipper. Download:https://gametechmods.com/uploads/files/2038Robot test 2.rar 72

Right now they are: body and blade to mass 1, wheels 0.5.
I'm also wondering if the mass is the density of the object that with the volume is calculated the actual total mass, or if it is the total mass of the object regardless of volume. 73
Game Development / Re: Robot combat test (Unity engine)« on: August 04, 2016, 04:41:17 PM »
I'm going to making other types of robots to test ( rammers, flippers, VS.. ), then seeing if it's worth the effort, as it seams it will get pretty heavy in processing power.
Next robot I want to make is Original sin, this will test 4wd, hinged wedglets and pushing power. 74

Yes, physics will make going backwards difficult (same can happen in IRL if I'm not mistaken), but the unity physics feel a bit wonky in places.
Also controls are wasd/arrows for direction and f to turn on/off the spinner. Model was made by me in sketchUp, then skinned in 3d studio max based on this photo: ![]() 75
Game Development / Robot combat test (Unity engine)« on: August 04, 2016, 03:42:58 PM »
I've experimented for about a week trying to make something resembling a robot using the physics engine and this is the result:https://gametechmods.com/uploads/files/9548Test.rar
The main thing that I don't like about the unity engine is that there isn't a cylinder collider, and instead I had to use a mesh, and because a mesh isn't completely smooth, I had to bodge a rubber like wheel, adding complexity, and it's still not very smooth ( without this it would be like using a cube as a wheel ). And the wheel collider that Unity provides is useless for anything other than cars. If someone has used Unity and knows a better way of doing wheels for this application, let me know. 76

Opinions this far:
What I liked: Fights, Interviews (more information about the robots and repairs) and amount of fights in an episode. What could be better: Camera work and editing (as other have said), atmosphere and lack of energy (especially of JP, we are used to lot's of reactions on what happens and witty comments). Overall enjoyed the episode. 78

I guess I could try Badger, make a new folder for IRL stuff, change the values and pray to the havok gods that things won't explode.
The HS uses a nightmare e-tek. EDIT: I have uploaded the two bots in the bot exchange if you want them https://gametechmods.com/Robot_Exchange/DSL_HW/Tashic_HW-Riptile.bot https://gametechmods.com/Robot_Exchange/DSL_SHW/Tashic_SHW-Polycarnage.bot 80

Experimented some robots using Serge's component freedom, to make some IRL robots:
![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() I noticeds that the motors are much weaker compared to their real life counterparts, and thing can be stopped very easly. |
