As for grudge matches, I propose a face-off the best from each game--that's right, Crash Test Genius vs. Dragon's Amusement!

I can't believe nobody has said this before me...

You, good sir, are one Talon-ted builder!

It is worth noting that mag snappers are ripoffs, because they are heavier and hungrier than BSGs but are no more powerful. For Azide, switch to using BSG bursts. For Zaron, ditch the separate srimech and use small JX bursts. This will make self-righting easier for Zaron with only two burst motors, but the wedge may need to be shortened. After that, use skirt hinge extenders (in a drop-down menu with the skirt hinges) on the slope and attach some angled skirts. This way, there will be five skirts in a row on the slope instead of three. This will also make Zaron wider, protecting it from horizontal spinners.

As for Aragon, there are a few things to fix. First, unstack the batteries, because this is illegal in DSL. Second, improve the wedges--the trick is to only attach skirts to the middle if it is to be used to get under another robot. Use two skirt hinges, side-by-side, if necessary. Next, switch out the Techno wheels for something else (Vladiator wheels should be sufficient). This will save lots of weight, which should be used on making better (read: longer) supports. This should help to reduce the gyro dancing problem, which all spinners suffer from to some extent.

I was hesitant to enter and create an awkward 5-bot tournament, but now I really am interested.

I personally use spike strips for popups as they can damage from the side and the tip but that's what I do.

no. never do this. youre wasting weight and reducing the amount of weapons you can use, plus spike strips have normals.
Irons or Razors. That is your choice.
Thanks for the tip.

Razors are preferred for popups because they are overwhelmingly piercing-oriented weapons, and thus, do more damage to the chassis than they do to other components. Popup.py, the Python AI script class designed for use on popups, is programmed specifically to wait until the chassis has been in the smart zone for a certain amount of time before firing its weapons. Popups are designed to do catastrophic damage to the chassis in a very short time, and this is best achieved by using razors for weapons.

I do not think I am going to be using that chassis again.  I tried making a number of improvements to the robot, but the blue snapper keeps freaking out and havoking.

Is there anything specifically that makes blue snappers go berserk, or am I just putting too much stuff on it?

Strange. Rude Bot (the LW HS that I built) has, as far as I can remember, has never havoked. The main difference between RK 242.01A and Rude Bot is that Rude Bot's chassis is more than large enough to hold the snapper and a nifty with room to spare. That, and Rude Bot has DSA, whereas this (presumably) has plastic. Perhaps Rude Bot's larger and heavier chassis helps with stability, since RA2 (especially Stock) does not like small chassis (see: Nasty Pickle Glitch). Additionally, Rude Bot's Drive and weapons are mounted on a T-Connecter on the back of the snapper. Perhaps switching to attaching everything to the back of the snapper will fix most, if not all, of this RK's havok problems.

FIRST! Although seeing this has made me want to go back and change mine a bit.

If you switch to using Shinies instead of minis, you will be able to use either HPZteks for the weapon motors or bear claws for weapons.

I suggest "Stock Re-Forged."

Its all fun and games until your water-heater gets an enlarged prostate.

I didn't know that water heaters even had prostates. I guess we are now speaking a Romance language, in which objects are arbitrarily sorted by gender.

I've never seen disc supports before. This is really creative, and it looks like a beast.

Since most people who are participating in RedAce's AI pack are showing their bots, I guess I might as well show mine:

Armor is Titanium 1. This is Twister, my re-imagining of Tornado from Stock AI.

I tried to replicate the original Tornado design (flat disc with a bar spinner on top), but I was not satisfied because everything was too unstable. Instead, I made Tornado into the angled spinner Twister, which is partially inspired by Twister from ochayedonald's Lego Robot Wars. If you're wondering why it uses tank tread motors, it is because Twister originally had tank treads and I never bothered to switch the motors out when I gave it wheels.

I like to think of it as a Standard version of Ghost Raptor.

ADVANTAGES:
  • Strong weapon
  • Wedgy
  • Decently fast

DISADVANTAGES:
  • Somewhat unstable, especially if the weapon breaks
  • Weak armor

EDIT: Do you mean the disc armour on the wheels? I guess I don't read so good!!

Yeah the bot was a bit wobbly thanks to those which is one of the reasons why Cutting Edge IV dropped them and went back to regular armoured motorcycle wheels!

Yes, I was referring to the disc armor attached to the wheels. If the disc radius is larger than that of the wheel, the disc will touch the ground instead of the wheel, thus making the drive useless.

These bots are really cool, although the third bot worries me a bit, because if the discs are touching the ground, the bot will move very slowly.

Please stick around! I would love to see more of what you come up with.

May want to export a hovercraft to ironforge for extra flying goodness. Or is there one in cheatbot2 IF ?

There is a cheatbot2 hovercraft engine in Ironforge under the motors tab. Along with it are items called thrusters, which are servo pistons with such high torque that they move bots around. They come in three sizes, and are quite fun to play around with.

I would love to help out, but I honestly don't feel that confident in my skinning abilities. I will see what I can do.

I'm sure the rest of the community would be happy to muck in on some skinning if your bots were right for what they were rebuilds of :)
I was going to say, I'm not confident with my standard building but I'd be happy to give the skins a go

Thanks, Lemonism! I really appreciate the offer, and I'll most likely take you up on it. In the mean time, I call dibs on Tornado, and I have a really good idea for Tailwhip, though it involves changing the bot type.

I would also like to suggest a rather punny name: Stock AIronforge.

Oh dear, it has been a year. Two variations of one bot are now here!

Armor is DSA. They are the same bot, except for weapons.

They don't have a name yet, so I just called them--get ready for this--O LONG JOHNSON
The idea is the same: Heavyweight VS, 2WD, excellent frontal armor, one black each, wedges with DDTs. The only difference between them is the weapons and 8kg.

Pros:
-Good front armor
-Plenty of battery power
-Both versions are strong
-Wedgy

Cons:
-Underweight (I cannot decide to do with the last 50kg)
-Slow
-Neither version can easily self-right
-Exposed motors
