Malleus Maleficarum looks sweet, I'm a sucker for well made axe-bots.

I've been watching a lot of old Robot Wars (Seasons 1 to 4), so I tried even harder to keep to an IRL standard.
Henry: Judge burst powered flipper strong enough to lift even a heavyweight! It likes to push and it likes to zip around the arena. Strength is its massive flipper, weaknesses are an uncontrollability and a tendency to flip itself over, leaving it vulnerable. Let's hope it's better than the vacuum cleaner! ![]() ![]() Ramp Trap: Taking cues from Mousetrap this robot is long with skirts to upend it's opponent from all angles. A terrifying lifting spinning blade will chew up opponents, and doubles as a Schrimech! Don't get trapped, or it's curtains! ![]() ![]() Scorpion: Scorpion by name, Scorpion by nature! It may not be the fastest in it's weightclass but with a clinging, tangling front and a dangerous 'spike' tail will leave you feeling the pinch. Can also self-right, but is slow to do so. ![]()

Probably the last revision I'll make on this one for a while. Not the last flipper you'll see though
![]() ![]() Forgot to put it on the splash, but has Titanium 3 I think. 65
General Support / Re: Random crashes...« on: April 18, 2012, 05:09:13 AM »
Mine tends to crash after winning a tourney, but when I go back to it it's been completed. Robot Arena crashes loads, but I find it helps if you never leave the game once you start running it (with Alt-Tab etc).

Real Robotics Discussion / Re: NEW ROBOT COMBAT SHOW COMING TO DISCOVERY CHANNEL« on: April 11, 2012, 07:08:35 PM »
To be fair, Robot Wars Series 7 champion was Typhoon II, which 'won' against a very good Biohazard-esque bot. Series 3 was also almost won by Hypnodisc, and the prior two seasons had somewhat nerfed designs because of the Gauntlet/ Trials and rampant House Robots (which were reined in as seasons went on).
I'm just over the moon right now for more robots. I hope Warhead makes a re-appearance, and I hope I can watch it from the UK. And my first thought upon hearing the news? "Oh man, we might get a new game to go with the show!!!!" 67
Existing Games / Re: The cancelled Battlebots game« on: April 11, 2012, 03:04:37 PM »
Wow that looked cool. If they toned down the ridiculous collision between that disc (and the axe on the second bot looked a little damaging when it wasn't moving) that looked like it'd have been loads of fun..

This'll probably sound silly but I really like the pattern of the beater bars. The wheel placement/ chassis design is cool too.

I think I wish this was IRL but in the end was just kinda cool. It's not even as effective as Vengence, which makes me sad.

DSL TC Showcases / Re: Celestial Panda's Showcase« on: April 07, 2012, 03:41:32 PM »
Not effective at all, scoops suck against wedges 'n' jazz. Also, if you spin on the spot it gets unstable. But firing the axe doesn't make it lift up much, so there's that.
New robot!

Q: What happens when you take Typhoon's chassis, and attempt to build a robot without changing it's shape or height?
A: Typhoon DSL! HW, lots of power, Plastic 1 (I think). It likes to veer right when moving forwards. ![]() Rotated Sheck parts are so that it reaches the floor (sort of), but it also looks kinda cool so a double whammy! And then I made a MW version of it too: ![]() Same chassis, 392kg, less damaging but more IRL. 76

Modifications / Re: The DSL 3.0 preview thread« on: March 25, 2012, 12:25:57 PM »
If I may I'd like to request a re-texturing on connectors so that each connection point is "marked" with a circle or something identifiable. This would be most useful on the red & black one (multi-extender), but all the circular ones have the same problem.
It's not a big issue and it's easily work-aroundable, but it'd be a nice little thing to make life easier for people. 79

Surely with AI "control" becomes 100%? Though you'd be right on RW judge criteria.

DSL TC Showcases / Re: Celestial Panda's Showcase« on: March 22, 2012, 02:02:58 PM »
Yes it does. The rebuild that's taking part in RIWS3 is much faster with 4 wheels, 4 black bats and ants to make sure it's fully powered.
Interesting about the flipper skirts, I thought I remembered a post that said; The lighter the thing on a burst, the more "powerful" the flipper. That's why I went for Polycarb skirts, I've noticed they fall off a lot though, so I will try Titanium or Steel, definitely. |
