Existing Games / Diablo 3 is out (and buggy)!
« on: May 15, 2012, 11:38:02 PM »
Anyone else playing Diablo 3? I got on the minute it launched here in Ohio (3 AM yesterday) but I only have a mere 3 and a half hours in the game. Why? Well for one, the North America server was down most of the day. Go Blizzard! Way to go, screwing folks who want to play solo to accommodate the multi-player playing masses. lol

I'm just griping for kicks, I guess because when it does work Diablo 3 is allot of fun. I currently  have a level 9 witch doctor named Spook and lvl. 7 barbarian named Clunk. Who's everyone else playing?

My friend Will and I had some fun with our Minecraft server.

See it here

Of course, being the server's owner I was able to just make a local backup to tear up, but it was fun nonetheless.

For kicks, Here's a map from last month of the MaMinecraft server. It's changed a good bit lately, not the least of which is due to the new switch board/comm tower thing. I need to post an updated map sometime this month.

Update: it will be down for a few minutes while I update it

Update: ok the new map is up, recent as of a few hours ago

Existing Games / Portal 2 Perpetual Testing Initiative
« on: May 12, 2012, 09:09:14 PM »
I figured this could be as good a place as any to gather people's Portal 2: PTI test chambers and promote good ones we've found for others to try.

I've made three so far but only one (found here) is decent. Has anyone made/found any good ones yet?

@Alpha: It is pretty much a stripped down beta 1.6 version, so it does not look all that great, I would not know though because I don't own an XBox.
It's beta 1.6.6 (supposedly) so it lacks allot of current features, including the newer biome code (which really bugs me). I personally got a headache trying to see my UI on split screen. The couch co-op is fun, though.

Does this count? I've been reviewing games for about eight years now on my site.

Hey; has anyone tried the new Minecraft for Xbox 360? My friend and I played it and it was fun, if a bit primitive.

Oh yeah, Alphasim, I tried to join your server yesterday, but it said that it couldn't resolve the hostname, even though I entered the IP fine.
You need to ask to be whitelisted on AAGH.
Yup. Stop by the AAGH forum and get whitelisted if you want to join. Lately the traffic on the server has really picked up and there are a few large builds underway.

I really want to do some building on minecraft, but I don't have the computing power. Can't wait for xbox version.

You are welcome.

I used Optifine once, and I didn't care for it. Then I used it again about a month ago and learned HOW to use it, and now I love it. I won't play without it anymore.

Stop by the MaMinecraft blog to see occasional updates on what we're up to, such as...

... the new apartment building my friend Floata built...

... and the big dig, Dig site 1.

Existing Games / Random acts of Gaming at Chaos is Gaming
« on: April 20, 2012, 12:00:35 AM »
Last week my friend Will and I started a small site to cover our gaming exploits. Intended to be entertaining and humorous, it's off to a slow start as we try to find a niche and style but it's there. It's called Chaos is Gaming, located at chaosisgaming.com. So far we've tried out a few Minecraft mods, played allot of Team Fortress 2, fit in some Rise of Nations: Thrones and Patriots and a few other titles so far.

What you may gather from this site is that we must be pretty bad. That's not really true - we're actually just intentionally reckless, hence the name of the site. If you're wondering about the abundance of AI opponents, we play mostly against bots for the time being as the site is reared up (for various reasons).

We update on Tuesdays and Thursdays. I'd be interested in hearing if anyone has any (semi-constructive) suggestions or opinions. My current favorite article is probably Rise of Nations: Fall of Bud.

EDIT: Hey, if you stop by Chaos is Gaming, could you fill out this survey for us? It'd be a big help.

If only someone went on the AGGH server.

AAGH's MaMinecraft server would be busier with more people, y'know. ;) lol We currently have about 20 members, and only about half of them play with any regularity. You do get the benefit of the server's Bukkit-enhanced features (like warping, /home and creepers not blowing up blocks) and community supplies, so that could be a reason to play there. We're primarily an enhanced vanilla server (no currency, no game mechanic changing features), in case anyone's wondering.

Here's what FB and I have been up to on the AAGH server.

It's obviously not finished yet, we still have to put some actual gardens on it, and make the lower level interiors more fancy, but the basic structure is complete.

If anyone has any extra lapis lazuli lying around, we are accepting donations with which to pave some of the interior.  :P  (Really, what else are you going to use it for?)  We've got plenty of sand and a few extra dirt and leaves to trade as well if you don't want to just give away your lapis lazuli for free.

(Oh, and I'm using Imageshack because I feel the GTM uploader should not be used for non-RA2 material... is that still the best image host or is there a better one now?)

That 'weird structure' that you saw in the pic was my airborne attempt at a maze. It sucked so I kind of abandoned it. I'll have to head out and see your pyramid; I didn't see it the last time I was out there. Of course, that's been awhile. Oh, and hey - I see the Bud Dome on your map. It's the only other thing I can make out there - it's the semi-round thing around the bottom-center of the map. Here's a pic or two of the dome.

It was obviously made when I was in my 'creative mode' phase, so it's not legit I guess.

Here's the inside. It's one third football field, one third basketball court and one third spleef arena.

Oh, and TrixyFrog (Firebeetle I believe) and I toured the pyramid - and it's awesome.

BTW, people - you can still join the server. We'd be happy to have more productive/friendly members! Join here!

EDIT: BTW, Clickbeetle: there's a metric TON of Lapis in the castle. If you go in the door to the glass room by the farm (if you're on the server you'd get this, everyone else) there's a small room with two chests. one has about a half dozen or more stacks of the loose ore. You can take that and make blocks if you'd like.

EDIT 3: Had a video here, but I removed it until I can make a halfway decent one.

I've got a friend (well, who doesn't?) and he doesn't know moderation. Period. Folks on my server on AAGH know him as Floata, so let's call him that. Floata has no sense of control or balance. Want to blow something up? No less then 5 stacks of TNT blocks will do! Yesterday he and I played on a tiny new server and he... well, he was himself.

Within a few minutes of getting creative mode (because he promised to just use it to build our house) he had blown up a huge hole in the ocean. Next he made a tower to the sky and was throwing cats and cows off of it. The above picture is part of the resulting mess. Half of the cows had washed out to sea by this point and I was trying to kill felines and bovines alike to protect my sanity. I insisted that he get back to the house and work on it, and he did - but then started hurling 100+ chicken spawning eggs.

Finally pissed off, I threw a mess of slimes around our house and revoked his creative license while he was mid-flight. He fell to his death in front of the house, leaving his gear among the slimes. He ran out to get it and I just sat in a window and watched. A death or two later, I started covertly opening the front door, tossing another slime spawn egg behind him, and closing the door so the slime count never went down.

Why choose slimes? Because killing one means 2 more, and because they wouldn't harm our house that he was right next to. He fought and fought and fought until I was satisfied and saved his hide. It was almost as bad as the time he made me mad while playing as a team in Rise of Nations: Thrones and Patriots and I decided to vent in a one-on-one match... but that's a story for another time.

It's actually trick editing. If you're referring to AON1, I took a video pan of the bot, grabbed a still of the last frame, and put the stats and whatnot on that. Then I just faded/blended the video into the still shot.

I make my skins according to the clothes I'm wearing at the time when I make the skin. My current one is my grey hoodie and green 'retro' shirt, with my belt, jeans, and 'hi-tech' trainers.
So I pay attention to detail.
I try to do the same, but I'm not real good.

Here's my bud Floata (Omega on my site)

This is jverde (Beta on my site)

Finally, here's mine. They could probably use improvement, but for now they work.
