If you guys think RA2 is dead, do something about it! Start a tourney... go on a showcasing spree... do SOMETHING apart from just letting it die.
Time to play devil's advocate again. Starting a tourney is a good idea, but remember, with a community as small as ours with at most 100 active, take about a nice 50% AT LEAST off for inactive builders, and maybe 5 people off as non DSL builders, and you probably have about 45 people tops. And that's not even counting the people who may not wish to enter the tournament. It's sort of a SLAGIATT sort of thing. Showcasing, especially if you're very good, isn't really that great though. When you're very good, you just get the generic "Awesome!" comments, which is nice but not really anything that will keep this community afloat. When you're not so great, you get feedback, which is also good, but as I've found, I can never really make a robot that gets complimented, so I just give up. I was honestly thinking of starting a podcast for the community to announce tournaments and discuss the forums and such; but there's honestly not a huge deal to say anymore.

Well, I've noticed that the forums are about 10 times quieter than 5 years ago. Hard to say but it's still the best robot combat game ever.
That's like saying David Cameron is the best Conservative Prime Minister of the 21st Century. By that, I mean there's not a lot of choice. Hell no. BB6 was the biggest competition to date, DSL 3 got a beta release and after ten years, we're finally getting a look at a potential sequel. If anything we're only just beginning to push the game to its limits. We still got atleast 3 years left.
But people could enter more than one robot into it. DSL 3 is very much a massive side project to those developing it. Don't expect it to be complete for a long, long time, by which the community would be even more barren. There will be no sequel to RA2. Maybe a few new sh**ty robotic combat games, but no sequel, which is a shame, I admit.
