dr.phalange: Do you have any bug's to report for us ? As of right now we are working on 1.2 and there is a motor rebalance, and a few parts rebalenced.. also the astro motor fixed again because it seems the fix we did last time did not get in v1.1.Also a couple of typos were fixed.and the point on one of the motors was fixed. Any other bug we don't know about or forgot ?

this sounds extremely cool. We talked about different ideas and this one did not come up and would be cool to see in action. We started out with very diferent arenas like the obstical course and the gravyard and a obstical race but as time went on we went for more simple arenas for lag and complexity reasons. This one however seems it could be done with low lag since most everything is static.

This goes out to you real robot builders out there. We are looking to make a Members team for a possible Version 2.0 of DSL. I have made Buster Blade which is a real life bot requested from one of our members. If you have a Bot that you built and would like to possibly see it in DSL please post pic's of it here with a bit of info on it. You never know you just may see your bot built for the game.
Please include different angle shots.

Ahhhh Megabyte just hit on something there :) if you have a cracked version of the Downloaded version you probally really have the CD version .exe ... interesting. (Looks around to see who was complaining about this) :smt075

We have listened to your comments once again and agree spin motors are too slow. We are working on improving that right now along with other small things we feel should be changed or improved. Once we have this DSL V1.x down we can look to the future to making DSL-TC V2.0 2.0 will be a full addon with new teams, maybe some arenas to replace some of the laggy ones. and probally some new part's. Over time DSL will just get better and better by replcaing some parts that don't quite make it. when you do a new version to fix we should not release new stuff we did it on v1.1 and we ended up worring about the new stuff more than the fix.
full addons will bring the version up but a full number like V 1.x to V2.x . a fix will always stay in the same number like v1.1 , 1.2,1.3 ect ..

ya there was 4 but as they got bigger the bars got worse.. the 4th is hidden now. i don't know whats up with those bars but collision is almost impossible. i was able to get the collision on the smallest one pretty good but as they got bigger collision got worse. Motors suck.. spin motors that is and we will improve that.

That sounds like you have a firwall up.. or behind a router. try disabling the firewall just to download it then put it back up. They are .exe and some brousers don't like you downloading exe's

Just a couple of test bots i made to see how parts and motors make out. first one has two vertical disc's second is a horizontal spinner. both do pretty good and can beat most replicas but they both have there weak points against certain bots.

the big motor AW made was pulled out and will not work.. the Claw is there and was a attempt like ACAMS said it was made for v 1.1 it was not in the original.. if you want to see it it's in with cheat parts.. make a bot called "cheatbot2" and it will unlock the claw. there are probally a lot of parts you don't see in game .. but they were not really made for a future surprise or anything they were probally made for replicas and never got used.

I agree CB all we keep hearing about it how slow spin motors are. Two people votes still too many bugs ??? what bug's if you have some bugs somewhere let us know .. as far as i know there is no serious bugs . but if so let us know. or is thins just someone who like to nip DSL in the butt for all the hard work we put into it ?
the post is "Has the patch helped DSL" So what about our new car ... any better ? What about the tribar ? glad to have it and in 3 sizes ? What about the new Axles ? for the first time we have limited rotation. What about the extenders are now fixed.. points on motors fixed. Astro flight now working right . The new Jx Burst.. you got the powerfull burst you wanted. LT tooth can now be removed. Storm totally redone to be invertable and drive upside down . New casters/ski ? New replica Buster Blade dsl bars now make sence. Drive motors now have more power. Shine taken off for you ATI people.
On and On.
It's easy to understand a vote of yes but only a little if your not happy with the motor speeds .. or even no it made it worse if you really dont like the motor speed.. but what about your burst with more power ? or TWM's with more power ? the only real decrease is perms and the 4 and 6 mag motors ( Spin motors) everything else you got pluss more.
But too many bugs ? hemm (Wonders if Beot and Viper was here lol )

I am glad to see a AI pack for DSL :)
Not happy to see the replicas go. It's way to soon people have not even gotten used to the replica's yet. why not 130 bot's and keep the 50 replica's? maybe it's just me but i am definitly not ready to scrap the DSL bot's.

people were warned that the motors were overpowered and would be reduced.. for a horizontal spinner the 6 mag works fine.. if i still have any complaint it's with the prems. besides that i dont see many motors changing much. But i know what you mean toast now i have to REALLY work to beat the bots.. not because the bot are impossible but all my bot's fight hard and beat some loose some but almost all are down to the wire nect hit wins type of match.. and i must say that for me is fun i am constantly going back to the botlab to try to improve my bot's just a little. i did have to pull all perms out and replace with 6 mag motors though because the spin was too slow. in V1 i had to build a really crappy bot to not win which was wrong.. in 1.1 it takes a good bot builder to defeat every bot. ACAMS has a bot that can kill em all.. i have yet to do that, all my bots are good against one or two type but loose against another type of bot. its like that in real life.

I've personally resorted to stocked (as some people used to do with the z-tecs) I thought the idea was that the motors were meant to be more realistic, not just slightly better than the RA2 stock parts? Your right that was/Is our goal.

CB we did a total rework of the motors you cant really look at what power it had before. sure the power is less but the draw may be more and the maxinoutrate also changed. batterys had to be changed to do this so here is what you need to compare to in oder to understand them. take a stock Z-Tek look at its draw max in out and powers then look at one of the perms.. every motor should be a tad better than any stock version to stop the people from unlocking old parts. . if the motor was geared you got max speed higher. most motors weight more and draw more than originals but have more power.
here is the stock ztek power = 36 24 elecMaxInOutRate = -200
now here is the perm power = 48 25 elecMaxInOutRate = -425
as you can see it has much more power than the ztek and a small amount of torque more. but it also draws more power. here is the stock High power Z-tek which was the strogest motor in the game for spinners before. power = 36 48 elecMaxInOutRate = -400
as you can see all the HP had was more torque
I did not do the motor balence so i am going by the directions i gave to go by for them. At least this was my understanding of how they were supposed to be done.

Have any of you tried the cave arena since the patch ? I put it as two player which reduced lag quite a bit. just wondering if it's still too much lag. for arena's object's that don't move don’t cause much lag at all.. but as soon as you get things moving things slow down.. the boulder will slow things down and when you have 3 or 4 boulders moving this is where the lag comes in. LT made the cave arena and i find it's one of the best to play in. If LT comes back maybe we can do something about removing something but right now we kind of have our hands tied with this. But let me know if you tried it since the patch and if it's any better.
I totally agree about arena's should be in different categories. But we had a problem with that. While we were able to do many things never done before one thing we did not figure out yet is how to make a arena work as a tabletop or king of the hill. if i put the monopoly arena in the table top category all bot's stop moving. same for king of the hill.. arena's can't be just moved around easy. our crack arena maker is/was Lu-Tze and we don't have her around right now to advance much on arena's. Goose AW and I have made arena's but none of us are nearly as good as she is and so far we don't know why a table top is a table top arena.. the arena may look and work like a tabletop but in the game it does not recognize it as one.
DSL is a ongoing project and hopefully we made some major steps forward with the V1.1 patch. But over time we may see the need for V 1.2 to further balance this mod out. it was a major undertaking with so many parts and so much new that there was thousands of things that could have went wrong. extensive testing allowed us to to come pretty close on our firt attempt. and feedback from you guys allowed us to fix some things over looked or some things we just plain made mistakes on. More feed back will allow us to improve it even more... and since DSL is mot a one person project this allows many to carry on with the ball and the possibility of seeing some major addons or even a full blown V2.0 down the road. DSL TC we hope set the new standard and if we were successful in this the project will add much more life to the game and allow it to live on longer than it could have ever hoped to by simple AI pack using the same old methods of bot building or new part packs that gave the few that wanted them something new to use. This is a clean slate.. everyone has the same NEW parts so there is no more " That’s not stock" comments will come from DSL part’s. These are the new Stock parts and once all balanced the whole RA2 community will be better off for it.
