Yah I think you guys all get it fairly well, I may or may not be entering depending on if we can fill the brackets quickly.
Oh also, cookie for anyone who can guess why the name is "lucky 7" (its not just random)

A fear of death is nor irrational, nor can I say is it completely rational. Death is the one final, the one absolute, It could happen to me seconds after I hit reply, it may not happen for the next 80 years. A fear of death is irrational simply because it cannot be avoided, it is a truth. Its rational because it is scary it is final no one comes back from death. I would like to say that if I knew I was going to die in the next 2 minutes I would die happy, that is not true, there is too much I haven't done, too much I want to do and experience before I leave. Ive often wondered if Old people die simply because they have done everything they wish to do, and its time for them to leave, they even know they are going.
On ghosts, maybe maybe not, I haven't ever had any sort of unexplained thing happen to me leading me to believe they are not true.

Thanks Joe, but I have got skinning fairly down pat, I meant creating arenas and as such. I do have one question for you though, for the awards I want to do an amped up flipper segment pack, I have them all skinned and etc. but there is only one flippermaker.txt in my components folder, so the description is changed for the 90/90 flipper segment but none of the others, how can I change them? Also, by changing the hitpoints to 1500 in the flipper segment .txt does that change all the flipper segment hitpoints or just the 90/90? Im assuming you know simply cause you are doing backlash (which I cannot wait for )

well this is a very very nice surprise....
a first time host with an expertly planned out tournament
great work D-lark, I will try to enter something here
Well now doesnt that just make me feel warm and fuzzy inside, looking forward to your entry! hmm. i should try and make a DSL MW for a change then. i'm mainly home in BW in DSL though. even a good LW is a challenge to me. still, this is interesting.
arena is reskinned combat zone ... flippers will be useless ='[
I suppose I could do the DSL tourny arena, it looks fairly easy to re-skin and it will allow the building of flippers. Seeing as I have already outlawed SNS i better allow flippers in or else there won't be any variety! DSL tourny it is

Im sorry, but the SNS rule is there to stay, It's my tournament and that is how I wish to run it, IMO a robot should be a mobile machine not something that just sits there and spins till its counted out, moves a little bit and does it again, the whole strategy just bugs me. Edit: I also admit that these are not good reasons, they are based on my opinion and that alone
Signups will open as soon as I finish the arena's and modding the flipper segments for the awards (seeing as there are a rather lot of them) Also once all the rules are finalized.

3. NO SNS'
Why you be hatin?!
PS. Theres no rule #4 lol and I'll probably enter.
Lol, on both sections, I must be crazy. And no SNS' well because 1. I dont like them 2. In my opinion they do not show controlled movement 3. I dont like them 4. SNS' are boring to watch 5. I don't like them

] Basic Rules Rules Subject To Change1. DSL 2.1 Middleweights 2. Standard Realistic Rules Apply 3. 16 entrants ONLY 4. No custom or cheatbot components 5. All robots must show controlled movement Tournament Specific RulesThe Idea behind this tournament is to get some creative looking Robot Designs, so some stipulations on your building will be put in place. 1.The only components you may attach to your baseplate are those that cannot be attached anywhere else and multi/baseplate extenders. {And Omni Extenders.... If you so wish}[Half sheets attached to the baseplate will be allowed, PROVIDING they are used for extender work/armour and not wedges] (So basically batteries, airtanks, control boards and extenders attached to the baseplate are all that will be allowed) 2. Wedges are only allowed IF they are not attached to the baseplate 3. NO SNS' 4. Multi bots are allowed but must be AI'd by yourself if you wish to enter. Multi bots may be two different lightweights whose total weight do not add up to over 400kg 5. Heaviest Armour you may use is Titanium 1, anything over is illegal. (This is in an attempt to try and get some unique component based armour systems) AI'sI would prefer if you AI'd your own robot, I can if you absolutely can't though. I have the NAR AI 2.2 AI pack, and can probably get any other common AI needed and just make the simple tweaks required to run a smooth tournament (making sure your bot is facing forward pretty much) anything else will be up to the builders. BracketsThe brackets will be a simple 16 bracket system. The first 8 qualifying rounds determine into which pool each robot goes. (Winners and Losers) From then on its single elimination. The Runner up in the winners final will then fight the consolation winner for second place. Matches/ArenaEach match will be 3 minutes long and held in a re-skinned combat arena DSL Tournament Arena with the Hazards DisabledPrizesThe winner will be awarded with the gold lucky 7 decal, and a souped up flipper segment pack (custom skin and 500 extra hitpoints) legal for use in any future Lucky 7 Tournaments Second place will be awarded the silver lucky 7 decal. Final Awards will be Best engineered - Souped up flipper pack Most original/creative - Silver Decal TTSHDBBDDTBL B TSHDBBDDTBL : thanks G.K- Silver Decal
This is my first Tourny, So If I missed anything let me know and I will fix it! Thanks for your interest, if there are any questions/suggestions about the rules please voice them here and now, Im open to everything. New Rules have been bolded, please look over them all before pledging your support.

Still it's NAR AI v2.2... and most tournaments are DSL2.1, where they suck :P
Thats why i dont wanna download the Nar AI components... Its pretty much DSL with a few new things & It really isnt used in tourneys :\ I also dont wanna have like 5 copies of RA2 xP So, I have DSL Normal, DSL With NAR AI (Only the AI) and soon Backslash ;D
You could still use the NAR full pack, just when building a robot for a tournament don't use the changed NAR components, or the colored bits and pieces.

I meant , if I told people that someone put 90kg on a BSG in his bot, it wouldn't matter.
And here I was thnking I had imagined the FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU I heard awhile ago.

Fix the weight classes for lightweights so that they can actually equal 250 kg!

those wide ram plates suck due to an error in the .txt file, use longer DSL bars instead.

Yes you can I believe, when changing the chassis hight, move the slider up to the very highest it can go, then instead of sliding it, move your mouse as low as you can on the slider and click, it will move the chassis lower than what you normally can, If you dont believe me click on the slider afterward and you will notice it moves the chassis height higher, to make it lower again just repeat the process.

Well, basically we just need someone to supply four bots that test our AI skills.
Personally I think that the bots shouldnt be overly complicated seeing as anything with a multi.py usually needs tweaks that only the builder should do.
Im thinking a random mix from an assortment of the regular bots
HS VS FS Pop Up SNS Rammer Flipper Poker
etc...

I like the idea of the Four Bot Challenge, I have been thinking about maybe starting a tournament after BBEANS, but I dont know if I have the capability. A Four Bot Challenge would allow me to attempt something simple, give me experience with FRAPS and splashes/opening cutscenes, background music and all that good stuff. So it would be just as much of a "learning and improvement" experience as it would be a test. Sounds like a good compulsory thing that everyone who wants to host a tournament should do.
A whole new thread section under the "Tournaments and Contests" area called, "Four bot Tournament Challenge" (or some other more suitable name) should be implemented in it. This would contain a sticky with a list of: -Green light tournament hosts (Those who have passed the 4 bot test with the general approval of the community) -Yellow light Hosts (Those who can do it, but maybe the edges are still rough, bad ai's, lame splashes, little to no obvious effort) -Red lights (Those who do not have the capability or follow through to complete a tournament at all)
Those who are red's cannot host, yellows can but only a max of 16 bots and its basically builder beware, greens can host up to 32.
Not alot of Tournaments get above 32 entries, only events like BBEANS and CC seem too, if a green light host wants more than 32 than he/(she?) must pm JoeBLo or ACAMS (Or whoever is best I am unsure) for permission. This can be done if there is overwhelming interest, or other good reasons, it is then up to our Trusted Moderators to make the best decision to keep everyone happy.
Of course those who have already hosted succesful Tournaments will automatically become green lights.
Perhaps it will become mandatory in the rules or discussion of each tournament that the host specify whether he is green or yellow?
As well as everyone posting their mini tourney's as "d-larks four bot challenge" for community review.
Well, thats all for my ideas. Would be a neat Idea, If anyone wants to send me four bots, I might try and do the AI/ Mock Tourny thing as a test to see how well the idea works in practice. I don't mind being a guinea pig and am 90% sure I have the capabilities.

Good Improvement, especially from the first robot.
One thing I might add, remove the teeth on the wheel protection extender, and use the wieght to put some more weapons on your spinner. They aren't really doing much where they are.
Perhaps weapons with non-normals on the spinner too? Sledges come to mind with only two sledges and by removing the teeth, you should be aple to put some rather heavy weaponry on their.
Edit: Oh look nary beat me to it...
