Went and upgraded it:
![]() Now .1 kgs heavier. Insides are pretty much the same, but the overall height was lowered, and the weapons and top "antenna" were improved. After some thinking, I've decided I will treat this as a standard design, simply because I don't think Anathema-type bots would work in real life. 63

Not sure what I was doing when I built this:
![]() 199.9 kg, no ballasts, 1mm titanium, 2 80 cm Cutting Edges, 12 30 cm Iron Spikes. Supposed to work like Click's Anathema, but I don't think the weapons I chose for the shell are the best for this design. 64
Contests / Re: Vote BOTM Dec 2014« on: November 27, 2014, 03:32:53 PM »
It's a close call between #2 and #5 for me, but I'm giving my vote to #2. Shame that neither of the bots themselves are really Christmas themed, but they're still cool.

Sad to hear that a fellow feline has passed away, even if I didn't know them. Sorry for your loss Jonzu, I hope you and your family are doing okay.

First two look nice, though I'm not sure about the weapon supports on the HS. Not sure about Mini Load; I like how you did the wheel armor, but I don't understand the reason behind the Piglet drive either.

Is it me or does Socket Launcher's chassis look taller than it needs to be? Also is there nothing you can spend the remaining 20 kgs on?
As for Factory-made, definitely listen to Craaig and Jake regarding the batteries and disc; shrinking the disc looks like the best solution from my standpoint. If it's supposed to be IRL you could invest in bottom supports for the disc if there aren't any already. If speed's a problem, maybe try swapping the wheels for Vlads. 70

Nice to see some new faces as well as familiar ones, and thanks everyone for the advice.
I like the LW, reminds me of 8Rec.That's what I was going for, as it's just supposed to be a newer version of 8Rec recreated in Ironforge. Just for kicks I also put the champion's trophy on the back, even though it's only a former champion in spirit. :P Here's what it looks like now: ![]() Resized the chassis a little bit, gave it a cleaner extender setup, and added 2 ballasts. The weight now is 124.7 kg without the ballasts. It definitely performs better with the ballasts; it doesn't seem to mind the decrease in speed. 71

Seems to me like it'll just make the robot heavier. 72

The idea behind the weapon setup was to emulate a drum spinner with the weapon motor inside the drum, but I couldn't find the right components to completely enclose the weapon motor, so that's probably why it doesn't look good.
I'm not a fan of the weapon setup either, i know it's to look good but i would just use a smaller disc and less extenders.I'm using the smallest of those discs at the moment. I suppose I could swap it with a smaller diameter component like the small drum or one of the polygon plates, but I'm not sure how that would affect the look of it. Are the disks actually attached together,or is one attached to the weapon supports? If they're attached then I would separate them using the double axle motor (if possible) and stick with axes, otherwise I would replace the axes with beater bars and stick with the two connected disks look you have now, for a cool drum. The second disc is actually attached to one of the weapon extenders. I guess I could switch to beater bars, but I'm not sure where I'd get the weight from. Less batteries maybe? 73

Hello everyone.
So, yeah, I have returned, which I've considered doing for some time now. I originally left because, to be blunt, I felt the state of the forum had really gone downhill, and between that and the stuff in real life I've had/still have to deal with, I didn't think it was worth sticking around here. Because I'm still a bit busy with real life stuff, I can't help but feel I did this too early, but the optimistic part of me says that the forum has had enough time to get better and things in my personal life are getting better as well. And so I'm here. As far as what I've been doing RA2-wise, I haven't built many standard Stock and DSL bots. Instead, I've been focusing on learning how to build good IRL bots, not only in DSL2 but in DSL3b and Ironforge as well (OK so I did drop by a couple times to download those mods, but since I didn't log in I don't consider that as an actual return). However, I must admit I need help, because none of the IRL bots I've built are really good, and those in Ironforge are certainly no exceptions. Nonetheless, here's one of the IRL LWs I've built, Reclaimed Iron: ![]() 124.6 kg, 1mm Aluminum, the rest should hopefully be visible. Reclaimed Iron was based off of one of my older IRL designs. Decently powerful weapon, but it can be really unstable due to how powerful the motors are in this mod. Not sure if the axes are the best for this design, and not a fan of how I attached the rear wheel guards either. Weak armor and iffy wedges as well (but the latter is to be expected because, well, it's RA2). Constructive criticism very much appreciated. 74
DSL TC Showcases / Re: THE MIGHTY NARYAR's show-off-case« on: March 23, 2012, 11:09:27 AM »
Reminds me of my BTTB 4 bot.
If you switched the Vlads to Hypnos it would allow you to angle the weapons downward as well as make it faster, but you won't be able to get bottom protection that's just as good as what you have now. 75

'sup
I can understand why you're so used to using baseplate anchors over multi-extenders since they're easier to use, but once you learn how to rotate extenders properly it's not so much a problem. Plus they can make a difference because their lower mass allows you to have a smaller chassis. You really don't need those DSL bars. I know you're they're supposed to act as armor here, but JX motors already have a lot of hit-points on their own, and in the position they're in right now they're not doing a good job of protecting anything. One thing that can help your flipper is to attach the burst motor higher up. This will angle the flipper more thus make your flips more effective. One last thing I need to say is that it's underpowered. This will need 9 ant batteries (2 for the drive motors, 7 (or 5 if it's a small JX) for the JX motor) in order to operate at full power. The problem is I don't see how to give it enough power without pushing it over the weight limit, so you're gonna have to take away from one system to keep it below the weight limit. Either drop the JX to the smaller version or (if you're already using the small JX) downgrade the drive. 77

It looks nice. Not sure what motor is powering the weapon, but I would upgrade it to a 6-Mag, because I doubt what you have right now is strong enough to spin that disc at a reasonable speed. You might as well add some more armor or stabilizers while you're at it.
Also, are you sure the weapon doesn't cut through the wheels? To me it looks like it does from the second picture. 78
Modifications / Re: NAR AI pack releases ! (NEW RELEASE)« on: February 09, 2012, 05:47:01 AM »
Didn't I send you rebuilds of Grisly Bear and Tip of the Iceberg?
Still, I like the new patch so far. Too bad it's ridden with errors, but most of them can be fixed easily. Also, the creation of this patch reminded me that I have 2 teams worth of bots that I can send to you. I just need to somehow get my s*** together. 79
Discussion / Re: Why do you NOT participate in BOTM?« on: February 08, 2012, 06:26:19 PM »
For me, it's reason #5 for the most part. If I decided to put in enough effort I could make a decent splash, but even then neither it nor the bot would be something as front page-worthy as something Click, JB, or Sage would make.

Not a very good draw for our team at all. The only way I can see us winning is if Maruined is exceptionally stable.
