Erm, but they have no weapons. I find it dubious that they can be different types, when are both essentially one type, pushers.

I agree with S_M. If they have no weapons, they're clearly not those bot types.

I don't really care whether you want to call the LW a rammer or not, but to think that the LW and the MW are the same bot type is simply ridiculous. And besides, heavy plows deal small amounts of damage, so the bots actually do have weapons, thus invalidating the entire issue. Unless you want to start making arbitrary value judgement on how much damage makes a component a "weapon."

It has certainly been a while. I have decided to post my SotF team for your consideration:

First up, the LW, called Little Buggy:

Little Buggy is a weaponless rammer that is almost impossible to destroy, though it has vulnerable wheels and cannot score very many points.

Next, the MW, called High Fracture:

High Fracture is a weaponless crawler which uses heavy plows to give it nearly invulnerable wheels and chassis protection. The only way to beat this bot would be a WBP.

Lastly, we have the HW, called Razor Storm:

Razor Storm is basically just Weapon Array V with a different weapon setup due to the 6-flail limit. This bot is also difficult to kill with its 3 half-sheets and razor-coated shell, but can also dish out serious damage.

Well, there they are. Any comments would be appreciated. :D

Nice, though it seems like gutrippers would have a pretty easy time with it.

I don't think it's good enough...

Oh come on, it was built by the legendary Kill343gs. Surely you can be a little lax on your quality control?

"Bots must have a minimum quality level" does NOT mean " Bots must be built by a sufficiently appreciated and famous member".

You and I are also legendary. Yet it would never cross my mind to enter a crap prototype into my tournament.

Besides, it would be a weak, boring competitor and you know it. The very reason for the minimum quality rule is to eliminate obvious SFTW's, therefore eliminating boring, very one-sided matchups.

So nope.

Fair enough. I just wanted Kill to enter into a DSL tournament again.

Nary, you can't just walk through the rulebook like this...

What, by extending entries when there is clearly more people (like myself) interested? Sorry, but I don't see the downside of increasing the number of slots.

I question the degree to which I am going to end up finding your observations enlightening or interesting. Your example in the OP is so simplistic and such a non issue that I wonder whether you really understand the relative weight of the various problems facing children as they age.

That being said, I could end up being proven totally wrong. I would be interested to see how this progresses.

Frankly I don't see the point of a dual mag or NPC drive if you are going for combat effectiveness. That being said, it is a pretty cool design.

hjfjkgsdjghdjhgajkhgj I might need to recycle something if I can't get my entry sorted in time.

Don't worry, the second 16 entrants always come much slower. I will also hopefully be getting something in soon.

71
Trov, you are a godsend. The bot works flawlessly now! Many thanks to you.

72
Ehh, the front armor is sloppy (perhaps a Titanium sheet would be better) and it doesn't look like you have enough weapons. Might be better to go full VS or Juggler than trying a hybrid.

I can't say it was intentional. I thought his drums were built from DSL discs on the top and bottom. Plus there's that drum like this in my NAR AI team, I built that back in November. (Man Trap, Gauche =P)

Yeah, well I built mine back in October, so I win. :P

Anyways, how well does the bot fare against gutrippers?

74
I ask the same question when making those torque reaction vs, apparently you can't do it.

You mean its actually hard coded into the .exe?

I think it's possible, but i need someone that knows what they're doing in python to clarify.

I dropped a PM to Clickbeetle to see if he knows.

I'm presuming a CW on NPC Normals and those wheels would run fine, I feel Techno's could very well be overkill.

Oh right, I forgot this wasn't a heavyweight. Disregard what I said then.

Plus then you would have 10kg to spare, downgrade to Pl5 and you just might be able to get a 5th razor on the outside eteks.

Or he could get technos (I think), depending on how fast the bot is with only standard NPC drive.

I would try and shrink your chassis such that no part of it is sticking out beyond the half-sheet. I personally might have gone with a DSL Disk or Bar for top armor. And I second SKBT's advice of putting the NPCs onto the chassis directly, as the motors themselves have very little HP.

I'm giving it a few days to see if anyone goes to enter the wildcard.

Signups shall close for good on Midnight on Saturday, GMT.

Screw them. You snooze, you lose.

Agreed, though it is marty's call in the end. I just want to see this thing start ASAP.
