Here's some questions I don't think anyone's considered:

1) Do we know if there are going to be weight classes other than the old LW - MW - HW implemented? I know we have our unofficial AW - BW - SHW classes, but would something like that be officially implemented in the game?

Because if we got something like this, it'd be cool to have Ants and Beetles fighting, and especially some SHW mayhem.

2) Do we know how many bots we can have on a team, or how many teams we can have for that matter? RA2 had six slots available and 15 teams respectively, and I'd think there would be more for this (what with tech improvements and suchnot).

3) Somewhat related to both the above, do you think that RA3 will mix up the LW-MW-HW formula for the AI teams? I personally think it'd be cool if there were, for example, a team that specialized in sub-lights (such as Anthrobots in DSL 2), or a team that had all MW and HW bots, though there would probably be enough bots in each weight class for the tourneys.

And another:

4) Do you/we think walkerbots would be possible?

M O R E H Y P E

On the subject of the trailer, I think the team just got the old Stock components done and decided "Hey, why don't we make the trailer now while we work on everything else?"

Still, if all we got was what the trailer showed, and gameplay doesn't suck, I'd be happy. The new features range from a nice improvement to a godsend (moving components and modifying the chassis without deletion!? HELL YES).

Man where the hell did Andy learn to do all this

The black and yellow one looks like Backslash and Emergency had a baby

Or Panic Attack/Biohazard and Firestorm

OH MY HELL YES.

Seriously though, this pretty much just made my day. My cautious optimism towards the game really payed off; everything the site's showing us looks awesome, and it really looks like we'll have more advanced options for bot building. Plus, now we have definitive proof that Andy has WAY more skillz than we realizedit's not a fake.

Also, just a thought, I think the botlab will have both freeform component placement and the "top-right, bottom-left" preset point placement for people who can't quite get the hang of the former.

*los sigh* Suppose I'll have to for now.

Also, another, less-fueled-by-anger suggestion: Could you make a wheel that's in between the Mini Wheel and the N-12 in diameter, like a version of Stock/DSL's Shiny Hubs or Slipperbottoms?

May I just drop in to comment on how utterly broken the Banhammer is. Because putting a flamethrower on the best weapon in the game, not making it secret, and THEN tacking it onto bots that can pin you to the wall and 'roast' you while you can't do jack about it was TOTALLY a good idea. At least with pistons you have Newton's Third Law to overcome.

Also, pistons are kinda crazy right now. A "The Boxer" facsimile should not be able to launch opponents out of the arena.

(Love this TC otherwise though.)

We can all hope so.

On another note, who's gonna be the first to try and recreate the RA2 stock bots if the game doesn't?

YES X3

In all seriousness though, it's gonna be awesome seeing the show that brought me into robot combat come back. If Battlebots did it successfully, who's to say RW won't?

There's a good chance we'll be seeing them again.

Actually, most of them do (only Sir Killalot and Mr. Psycho don't - they'd qualify for the proposed experimental class from the ill-fated Battlebots 6.0), but again they're all a bit small for the Super-Heavyweight class, weighing in at a little above 220 Lbs. They would have trouble against bots like Diesector, Toro, New Cruelty, Atomic Wedgie, etc.

On that note, if the House bots DO come back to TV, I'd like to see them become proper SHWs. Hell, by current Battlebots standards, Shunt and one other House Bot (I forget whether it was Bash or Dead Metal) are legit HWs - though probably not entirely competitive.

So, do we have a list of who's confirmed for Season 2?

I mentioned this earlier, and this may be a bit out there, but I want The Master to make a comeback for this show. Mostly because it would be really cool to have one of the ORIGINAL original fighting robots come back in the ring.

^ I lol'd.

But yeah, a true flying bot is really too impractical to work within Battlebots's regulations. A hovercraft-driven bot, on the other hand, would likely work much better (and be way less cheap/ actually hitable).

General Support / Chassis Flattening
« on: October 15, 2015, 03:10:55 AM »
So I'm playing Ironforge, and I've noticed that several bots in the AI have chassis lower than what I've been able to pull off in the bot lab. Can anyone tell me how this is done, since it's awkward having my bots be twice as tall as their opponents (plus, it doesn't really make for good bots).

Discussion / Re: Manliest Bot Types
« on: August 28, 2015, 11:28:32 PM »
12-SnS: Well, the SnS is very focused on speed and damage and has nearly no armor, right ? That would make a manly bot, but the tactic ruins it all. You stay in a corner, all defensive, relying on your speed to avoid the opponent going too close, and don't charge. The tactic is very unmanly and ruins pretty much the man potential of a SnS.

Question: What about SnSs that have MeltyBrain technology (and before you ask, I believe that's a thing in RA2, at least in Ironforge).

IMO if there's another season on the way, I'd personally like to see a HW version of The Master (or reasonable facsimile thereof) compete. Don't know why, I just do. Also, I'd like to see Biohazard make a glorious return to the Battlebox, souped up for 2015/16 (again, a reasonable facsimile/spiritual successor would suffice).

Also, on the subject of interchangeable weapons, if we count the aforementioned The Master then it's been going on since '95. Can't get much more precedent than that.

Anyone think there will be support for clusterbots? I think that would be a cool feature to add into the game (though I'm doubting if they'll be effective...).

Yo, are you the one Goose gave the "gay" avatar to?

Yes, yes I am (well, the first of a few anyways). To be fair though, I was a 13 y.o.b (or 14, can't remeber, but I do know it was Junior high) at the time, and now I have much more maturity and wisdom to properly deal with such incidents.

BTW, what did happen to Goose? And many of the old guard for that matter? I know ACAMS retired but I haven't seen many of the others.

On topic though: how much would you guys bet that RA3's stock AI will be based on the 2015 BattleBots competitors, like the RA2 stocks were largely based off of contemporary robots?

scorpio im balls deep in here and i cant say i remember. not gettin all big on you though, i am known to dissapear. much respect man. i think speaking on behalf of everybody for the sake of robot '**** your mother' arena three we can all call the hatchet buried on this specific brand of ancient history

LOL I don't blame you. Not being here for years does not make for good memory. I guess my epitome-of-13yoboy-ness tantrum is doomed to be a footnote in this community's illustrious history.

Also, I see someone's excited for RA3.
