he said hes not entering them in tournaments, no reason to ride in here on a high horse and play game enforcer. if he's not entering them in competition, it's a totally valid reason to build however the hell he wants, really. i haven't turned the cf off since i installed it just because it's a fun new way to experience a game i've been playing on and off for over a decade.
really, what is a valid reason to make an 'illegal bot'? 'because he felt like it' isn't good enough? let a man live 67

first one is just playful ****ing around with a bad idea, second one started as a serious attempt at an effective and semi realistic drum bot that over the course of building just got worse until it was just bad. not going to get better unless i keep building. want to be competitive in the little tourney i wanted to start. as you can plainly see, i am not even close yet. dsl is hard

nice work with the control setup! that's pretty much exactly what i was talking about. i think that would be a perfect way to implement your control schemes in a way that's customize-able to each robot

ha! now that's some way to think about it, you're absolutely right though. especially considering you've only got so much space you can allow yourself for buttons on a mobile screen before you've run out of space to see what the hell you're doing, it does it's own work keeping outlandish and unrealistic design in check.

Robot Rumble 2.0 / Re: Robot Rumble 2.0 - Robot Combat Simulator - Under Development« on: July 27, 2017, 06:57:02 AM »
i think the most intuitive way to allow controls to be handled would be to allow you to kind of 'drag and drop' useable buttons for your robot onto your screen kind of like how one would customize the button placement for a mobile emulator on their screen. but again that would take a certain amount of know-how to do (not trying to imply that you don't have that kind of know-how, but i have no doubt in my mind that creating a game in any respect for a mobile platform is no easy venture)

probably a pipe dream but ive been thinking all day about a throwback tournament. no ai, just for fun and kicks. maybe bring back some classic elements of my favorite tournaments from like a decade ago (maybe a records table/challenge board style page like ra1 used to keep, or a traditional tournament including a nifty thing with robot profiles and fun junk like the old aceuplink mega-tourneys). not super serious, no bitching about lag (just drop out and shut up), just super seriously cool-looking and fun. i'd build a page for it that'd look something like a real robot competition's, maybe better. just for the flash and fun. it's been a long time, nobody plugs their computer into a phone-line anymore. keep it light or beetle for a test-run and see where it goes from there. i'll ****in' do it, would anyone join in?

Robot Rumble 2.0 / Re: Robot Rumble 2.0 - Robot Combat Simulator - Under Development« on: July 27, 2017, 02:41:34 AM »- An intelligent scoring system that attempts to model the (entirely subjective) judging at our actual competitions. This might prove to be the trickiest part, as it is mostly based on how "exciting" a particular competitor is if no one is knocked out. Does anyone have any ideas on how to do this? i would imagine a system that would record the speed of both bots upon impact when it's a non-weapon hit and speed/damage upon weapon hit, maybe even including something like a 'sparks' system that would sway judge opinion in favor of those who generate more sparks from their hits, but also to make things fair for flippers and shovers a counter-point system that reverses judges favor through hazard impact and slams (flips, too) as well. sounds complicated but probably possible if fine tuned juuust right 79
