Would it be possible just to have a constant pit, RW Series 3 style?
It was considered at one point, but I eventually figured it'd be better to have a way to seal it up for "No Hazard" matches. That, and if certain anti-pit naysayers like our friend Nary down there don't want the pit, they can still quite easily fight without it.

I'm in the living room, and my mum has it on. I'd much rather have Top Gear on Dave.
"Did the wind do that?" "No, a big giant came"

Instead of a faggoty pit, which would need a complicated release machanism, you could do something like the Flextop Arena, and have low grills, like RW Series 1, to attempt to immobilise bots with lower ground clearance. Maybe the walls could be reasonably high, so flippers wouldn't be quite so dominant in the arena.
Hey, nothing wrong with a pit as long as it's properly implemented. I appreciate that the hazards may need to be a bit smaller, though. And the walls are quite high- about the height of the BBEANS Arena 2. Mainly in order to give both flippers and rammers a chance against spinners and axes, but still. High enough to keep bots in, but low enough for a decent flipper to utilise.

As is the weight- any chance of it becoming DSL HW, mate? :P
Would you guys rather have it DSL HW?
Yes- personally, I think it'll make the whole "Realistic Robot-building" aspect much easier, and not so much focus on needing an unrealistically tiny chassis.
OK, I'll change it.
(edit): Changed.
Ah, that's great. Thank you! *Goes to build something*

Lol SF is not button mashing, unless you are playing first version with E-Honda. Crossover body slam + thousand hand tick + fierce throw + thousand hand block damage = win.
Heck, or Blanka and his Electricity Attack for that matter
That's about the most n00b thing I ever heard.
Honda's hand on first version is godly because u tick a fierce throw means 1 crossover block kill. Whereas lightning is just crap.
Yeah I grow up at an age where people actually go to arcades to play arcades. So you know you suck when you do.
Personally I am more into Alpha 3 then the original SF2.
Come now, the "Most n00b thing you've ever heard" is pushing it a bit. It's actually fairly decent if you can get in close. And don't think I haven't played the Arcade version, either- I have, but I'm mainly accustomed to using Sagat and Vega.

I'd still prefer a stock Battlebots tbh.
Not so good for making uber-realistic robots, however. As is the weight- any chance of it becoming DSL HW, mate? :P

Is it just me or is it the Robot Wars arena with a few minor changes?
I can forgive you for thinking that, but I was more envisioning a cross between the RW Series 3 Arena, the Robots Live arena, and the DSL Tourney arena. So close, but not quite. Is it just me or do the robots start up on a platform?
They're not platforms, actually- they're borders around the edge of the arena, much like those chevron hazard stripes you see against the arena walls in the Robot Wars Arena. lol @ the Start markers.
It looks quite good, but I'm just a little bit worried it might be a lot for the computer to cope with. Mind you, it manages The Octagon and RW Arena fairly well.
Thanks mate! So yes, I'm counting on that, really. It's not as big or has as many hazards as say, the RW Arena though, so I think it'll run OK once it's actually implemented. Have you not made a thread like this already way back then ? Why not use it ?
I'm sure I posted in it and bugged you about the faggotry of pits.
No- you're thinking of the "Arena Ideas- Post 'em here" thread. I didn't make that. And yes, I do remember our little debate over pits- those were the days :P

OK folks, my arena is now ready. Behold- The GF93 Arena"Designed and built under the watchful eye of GF93, this arena, perfectly designed for maximum safety on the outside, but sheer torture on the inside, has it all. With lethal hazards including a smoking pit, razor-sharp circular saws hidden in the floor and walls, flamethrowers, pneumatic spikes and low arena walls, yet still plenty of space to fight in, it's not considered a venue for the faint of heart"

He just said cannons are allowed. I'd build a cannon bot!
I'm sure there's a Pokemon that'd fit that
Rhyperior, if I recall correctly.

I am engaged...
It's a strange situation, though. As I have stated in another thread, my fiance and I have known each other well for about four years. About a year ago, we started talking about just doing the 'no strings attached' thing, but after some thought and a few instances where we found ourselves going to each other when we were down, we decided to date... And are now engaged.
Congrats on that from me, mate

I picked US flippers because they are more powerful and are cooler looking.
Maybe, but it's how you implement it that matters- an expert driver with a basic robot is more likely to win than a novice with the latest technological marvel.
you seem to think that just because every bot in the uk is a flipper that every driver there is miraculously better than the USA. There are different drivers everywhere and saying that one country has better drivers than the other is just plain stupid.
Not explicitly implying that, but I was stating that there was more to a good flipper than simply being powerful and looking cool.
