It's a deserved win. :) MikeNCR's bot was damaging, but you can never really see a controlled, aggresive spinner in RA2, much less one thats bouncing around the arena.

Revisted another bot. Removed the rear face spinner. Added a srimech. Made it nippy, made it spiky. Made the skin 512x512.

That is quite an impressive feat and plays well to its strengths. Although I suggest that perhaps the RFL borrowed a page from our forums in making it illegal:

"How many wheels does it have? ... NONE?!?  :rage"

Additional Notes:
- Scavenger looks AWESOME in motion
- lol YU812
- Sods law, Garvin will do well due to being a massive flipper. Same for most of the flippers. (But not you Anorexia. You're going to fall over.)
- 518 looks damaging
- I'm going to get pwned.
- I am really looking forward to this!

Custom Components Showcase / Re: Pay Tribute With Replicas
« on: July 02, 2011, 07:32:36 PM »
GF93, it's already in DSL. you just have to look through the Extras menu after using Cheatbot2.

But back to the replicas (and I was worried i'd killed the thread with the Panic Attack one), and it does look decent, but it could be improved too. If you're going for looks then maybe work on the skin a little more and paint the joints red. But function-wise, that front skirt looks pretty useless, as it's behind the flipper.

*sigh* This is the difference between a decent IRL builder, and a great IRL builder. Myself and Thyrus can normally manage maybe 1 or 2 designs a week, Mike here craps out 13 in 3 days and most if not all of them are gold. It's depressing and inspiring all at the same time!

H-Bloc is TiT3, as I figured it wouldn't need so much with the side and irons.

Underdog is TiT10, so it can take a fair few whacks and keep going.

Repost for the new page:

and my 2nd bot today:

A big ol' rammer, for the sake of big ol' rammerness. Not because there was no goddamn motor that I could use that could keep the bot invertible and with a spinner. No sir.

Invertable?
I'd almost like to see the wheels.

Invertible, yes.

There's no need to fear, Underdog is here!
I tried to pack a lot, enough into this chassis. I have weight left over, I know. But I didn't want to add anything else to the bot, hence the decision to call it Underdog. Also messed with the Iron Spike texture, just for the sake of doing so *shrug*

Additional: I think I could go on with different Stingray iterations until the world ends, so i'm leaving it at 6, until I can find a stable method.

I approve. :approve:

Nar will not.

I can't fathom how the weapon is attached on 2051 though... Is that a flipper/hammer combo?

I can't even remember the swear I used. But i'm so happy that it makes me look as scummy as the Drama Queens on this board.  ;)

I'm pretty sure you said another members bot was bad--(synonym for butt)

If that is the case (another word for donkey, perhaps?), then that was incredibly petty of ACAMS.

But this has nothing to do with this trainwrecktournament. So awaiting the 2nd round matches with interest.

No, don't refilm. We've already had enough drama with the GTG situation. It's probably my fault for being unprepared to send a backup bot at short notice.

Anything I say about the quality of that AIing is going to seem like very sour grapes from someone very hacked off with that match.

So, congratulations 027.

Yes, sorry for being unclear. Its a counterweight for the Stingray weapon, which has a combined weight of 55KG on a Beta Geared

Can anyone suggest the best component for a counterwight on that bot? ideally one that people don't shout "it clips the motor, UNREALISTIC! LERN2BOT N00B :rage" as people are prone to doing.

DSC's Predictions:

Conraaa: Tank, although it doesn't look like it'd actually be damamging. Might have been better with the Killdozer plough, but we'll see. SAXTON HALE MAY OR MAY NOT APPROVE.
GRW: Looks decent, flippy, depends if the skirts are at all effective.
Garvin: SFTW is being polite. I could say many angry things about this, but I just wish this a speedy exit.
NFX: Looks like it's going to be a contender with that weapon setup. Nice skin too.
Vertigo: Skin is slightly meh, but I dont doubt this will be a good flipper. however in this arena it's not an adavntage.
Scrap: Another Tank, and could screw a few people with a well timed push onto the wall. Has to be one of the favourites.
R1885: Barberous in style, dunno how effective it'll be in combat.
MassimoV: A decent-looking bot damagewise, but absolutely no style looks-wise. A robot that dove into the scrap-parts bin magnetised.
027 LB: A shell spinner. I'm doomed.
Badnik: Going to be formidable, although it looks very unprotected around the sides and back. It's a different story if anyone can get around there though
MikeNCR: Bog standard DSL shell spinner, like 027LB, but had the potential to look very Mauler-ish. Will probably do well in combat, but won't be a fan-favourite.
123STW: Looks unique in this field. A better draw and this would have probably gone far, but against Badnik's bot it's going to struggle.
S_M: Another Barberous! But at least this one looks the business. Might surprise.
Thyrus: TAAAANK. Looks like GBH2 in a different paintjob, but may not do too well in combat. Depends on what it does.
DSC: Probably a SFTW. Probably going to get wrecked.
Preytor: Invalid Query? A smashybox, will do well depending on who it fights.

Lol wasn't even looking clearly when I made that reply.

You know rule of 7 just don't occur to me anymore since I notice them right away.  It's the asymmetries of components that bothers me the most.

I have to second this, DSL is an amazing mod but the more you look at it the more you realise how lazily stuff was made in it.
