Oh and Serge, if you don't like the forum, DON'T GO TO THE FORUM.
It is your own opinion, keep it, don't try to make other people believe the same thing you do. It's a bloody internet forum we are on, aren't we supposed to DISCUSS or something? But if you prefer, I can leave you all to your little circlejerk that is apparently so dominant here. I think YOU are the one person that lets down GTM, always trolling (used correctly) other people's stuff because it isn't up to your oh-so-perfect standards. [/rant]
If it weren't for people like me, GTM would be long dead now (or turned into an RP forum). Also, for the eleventh time, it's to troll SOMEONE not SOMETHING. You can't provoke an inanimate object, now can you? Geez.

IT DOESN'T NEED TO BE! STOP MAKING SUCH A BIG DEAL! WE JUST WANT TO MAKE A COMMUNITY IN A FORUM! OK?!?! JUST LEAVE US ALONE IF YOU DON'T LIKE THE FORUM!
Nope.

"Spamming"? Go **** yourself. This whole thread is about advertising a sh**ty forum, which would be bannable everywhere. Just because you disagree with someone's opinion it doesn't mean that they're "spamming". You remind me of people who label anyone arguing with them as "trolls".
Also, I am still right about paying for hosting - there is just no way for anyone to offer en masse free hosting without adding ads and/or limiting your possibilities. It's really dumb to spend money on a .com domain yet still use free forum hosting - it's like buying a gold case to keep cat turds in. Since you are already spending money, why not just buy real hosting?
i call everything spam most of the time. but that probably escaped your attention. also the fact that you call it a sh**ty forum is nothing but a personal opinion. others can say the forum is nice and good because that is their opinion.
and as if. as i said earlier, you don't need to pay to have a successful forum. i also said that i could understand why there were ad(s). and another note. then domain name on my forum was free somehow. SotG (on my forum called TIF, also the founder of it) once just got a mail that we were given the option for a domain name. i do now feel like arguing with you about this is useless since you probably won't understand, or just to want to understand, that not everything requires money.
I am sorry that I don't spend days on GTM reading everybody's posts, and instead, have some sort of Real Life ©. The forum being shi tty is an opinion I can back up with arguments: - No content (21 topics, 8 are off-topic)
- Too much admins and moderators, not enough users (4 Staff Members, 1 Member)
- Too much sections, all the content that is already there could've been put in two categories: Train Talk and Off Topic
- Eye sore (seeeriously)
- This
Show me a successful (SA or FP or at least old-GTM-scale) forum that's based on proboards. (Brings hands together and appart convulsively, indicating a connection) Yes, like I have absolutely nothing better to do than spam a forum that is going to die anyway. Also, correlation does not imply causation (or "connections" as you say - I feel like I'm watching an UFO program on Discovery):

I'm 6 months from driving! I'm no kid!
I am sorry, but that's in a country which allows dumb 16-year olds to drive yet disallows anybody under 21 drinking a bottle of beer while allowing anyone over 18 to own a gun.

look at my forum. only one ad at the top and that's it. and that is with a domain name. and i don't remember those being free. and ad was there before the domain name tho. so it doesn't make any difference. you just shouldn't be so pushy with all the higher up stuff. anything can be successful if you put some good effort in it.
Wouldn't it be better if there were no ads at all, or at least ads that gave YOU revenue? Also, a domain name is like 5€ per year. For another 15€ you could get really good hosting.
there
Read this again: and see i was right, domain name is not free.
Uhm... because I never said it is?
I will write in all caps because otherwise you may get confused: I NEVER WROTE ANYWHERE THAT A DOMAIN NAME IS FREE, WHERE DID YOU GET THAT IDEA FROM?

I disagree. "Well that was a fail"? Seriously? This reminds me of youtube comments.
And yes, a 15 year old is still a kid.

Well, as long as there are GTM members on there who want to have some power on a forum, then it'll live.
So you say its main point is to let some kids get power hungry? Wow, excellent community :|.

Serge, just because you are a technical advisor, doesn't mean you have to put down every community you don't want to give a chance.
Let's be honest - do you recall ANY forum like that that didn't die out immediatly? Also, I don't give a flying fu ck about titles - if you do, you should think again.

It's gonna die anyway. Nobody cares about yet another forum that is too general to target any community.

Thanks Serge. Thanks for (Image removed from quote.) over this thread.
It sucked anyway. look at my forum. only one ad at the top and that's it. and that is with a domain name. and i don't remember those being free. and ad was there before the domain name tho. so it doesn't make any difference. you just shouldn't be so pushy with all the higher up stuff. anything can be successful if you put some good effort in it.

not everything needs to cost money, serge. my forum is a Forumotion thing, tho it does have a domain name.
It has to if you don't want it to look like sh** and have ads plastered all over.

Making a web forum on proboards is like making yourself a business card with paper from a notebook and a half-writing pen.
If you want to create a semi-successful forum, just buy some hosting. It's dirt cheap these days. And if you can't spend a couple of bucks, well then, you shouldn't be making forums anyway.

So the one fixed by me a long time ago :P.
Try my new compiler, in my sig. It will more-or-less give you the line at which the compiler failed.
