Lifter with Spikes? As far as I understand it was some sort of self righting mechanism(probably in case they get stuck, but bots like that don't really seem to get stuck)? any more info on this would be nice.
It's a lifter. Those spikey bits are wedged, they can go under and in theory tip things over. Or just tip Nuts over to confuse everyone.
The red bits on the side? Think I'm not getting it. I think that's a bit of a problem since there isn't enough room to fight normally? Loads of room. Even if the bots were 1m square (they're generally smaller) they'd still only be taking up ~1/225 of the arena. It's HUGE and designed well for interesting fights.
Alright I'll take your word for it. Based on one image it looks like you could fit 4 behemoth shaped robots to make the cross part width(not counting the edges in which house robots might be)

This may be completely irrelevant but it's pretty easy to stack two SnapperII's, could experiment loading two that way?
Oh so they're one of the easier stackables(haven't messed around too much with stacking, a list of easier stackable stuff would sure be nice), only issue I see is that one end won't be useable unless you- that's it! clipping the white motor connection point inside and then loading it? however, you would need to load them without a motor attached, making it difficult.

Hi big post time
Should've seen my post, now that was big :P - Nuts is awesome. So much fun to watch. Nicest guys. The ring was meant to spin around the bot and act as a lifter as the spikes but the gearbox broke. Not a lot more to say here because people that don't like it won't be converted.
Lifter with Spikes? As far as I understand it was some sort of self righting mechanism(probably in case they get stuck, but bots like that don't really seem to get stuck)? any more info on this would be nice. - You guys analyzing everything really heavily make me laugh. As Kurt noted, 7 out of 6 grand finalists? Don't take everything you see as gospel.
That still confuses me, guessing that wildcards might have to fight eachother, but best just to wait. - I don't miss Craig or the music or the pit smoke or the 'slow pit speed'. Things change. Dara actually CARES and is invested, he'd walk around the pits talking to teams in spare time. Craig just sat in his dressing room drinking.
True, but they had a Pit Reporter for that reason which did the same job in Series 1-4(after that they kinda started dropping that), one of the points I loved, so that's good. - Arena is genius and huge. So well designed. Nowhere to hide at all, you're either in a CPZ, on a hazard, near a low wall or in the middle, which is the worst place to be tactically.
I think that's a bit of a problem since there isn't enough room to fight normally? So promising and so exciting for the future. With 10% audience share on that time slot, and ratings around 2 million, things are looking great!
Hoping to see more Series of it with more returning bots. Also they corrected the winner on the website now.

don't even bother with 2 blacks and a cb. you save like 3 kgs at most and it takes forever even if you're really good at stacking.
And you should definitely learn snapper loading, makes bots a lot more compact and less messy and opens up more options in building. Messyness probably isn't the best example though as it isn't even symetric.
Oh it's only 3 kg? (that depends on chassis size I guess, need to do more testing) as for Snapper loading, I would have, but then there wouldn't be enough attach points? Unless you mean the 3 motor per snapper setup, did it that way to not waste the white part of the snappers, think I might have to look into getting everything on one snapper(but how would I keep that symmetrical/what about the wheels?) Messsynesss isn't symmetric but I still wonder how the motors overlap(I know they can overlap but what's the setup so that they're on the exact same height and position like that?)

Anyone want to team up? Dunno how DSL LWs are but I might have a idea on how to destroy quite a few of Stock LWs.
I can team up. Unfortunately, I'm hopeless with AI'ing, so I am going to need some help with the 'bot I am entering.
I've learnt how to AI quite recently, want to talk about the bots somewhere in PM? Also guess MAD's smartzones are allowed to this? Or are the default DSL ones that? Also how different are the old vs new realistic rules?

Diotoir gets ignored Nuts gets accepted
???
No just NO...
What is your problem? I'd rather see Diotoir than Nuts as well.
See the stuff that happened a few pages back.

I'm up for any stock tournament, but would need a bit of time to design a new bot, also what arena?
I would too for sure, I go on holiday on the 21st August so I would either need to try and fit this in before, or finalise the details now and get it moving when I'm back.
As we're limiting weapons somewhat, maybe an arena that allowed for flippers to have some hope of winning by using an arena with low walls... Any suggestions?
Maybe Robot Wars arena with hazards disabled?
Are there any other similar ones to this? I seem to recall one of the BBEANS tournament stages was similar to this, or at least it is in my head.
Yeah, thought about the flippers, what about the ring arena?

@Hi5er pretty sure you need to do snapper loading to fit all 3 Z-teks onto one extender
Anyways, if you rotate the snappers 90 degrees and mount the weapons motors all on one extender off the main snapper arm you can put another extender on the rear to mount the drive like so (Pretend the red extenders are z-teks): (Image removed from quote.)
And yeah, you can stack a control board into 2 black batteries, but its a pain. You always can try stacking the control board into one of the snappers as that is usually easier than trying to stack it into 2 blacks.
Alright, thanks. While building this thing I wasn't exactly sure where I would put what, I know about the snapper glitch but couldn't decide on how to build that bot. Also what about clipping Snapper2's into Snapper2's? Still wondering how this is done: and how the insides of a 36HS usually look like. c'mon guys movepixel for life
(Image removed from quote.) get a load of this guy, so bad at stock he needs to use a THIRD PARTY program to be GOOD
/s
Still a better story than BFE'ing them.

Latest Idea:
Creative Clash.
Stock HW tourney.
SnS, Pop-ups and HS banned.
HS Hybrids allowed, but some form of nerf, i.e. no more than 2 ZTek motors could be used for the spinning weapon.
Would there be any interest?
I'm up for any stock tournament, but would need a bit of time to design a new bot, also what arena?

The eFFe glitch is your friend for getting the overlap.
Mount an extender on the snapper and hover another extender over an attachment point on that extender, fire the snapper and the extender that was hovering should still be black. Attach it "in mid air" and you should be able to fit a Ztek on both floating extenders, then when you test the bot and go back everything should have reset and the motors should be overlapping.
There's a really good tutorial on Click Beetles site for this: http://beetlebros.gametechmods.com/ra2techs.htm#effe
Then you should be able to reduce the size of the chassis and maximise weapons.
I already did that on the spinner(else that 6 motor setup wouldn't be possible like that), however the issue I have is attachment points, you wouldn't be able to put it on the same point if something is already attached(even if eFFe'd), right? I built this one similar to maelstrom(minus the smaller chassis for batteries) except with 6 motors instead of plows. Let me get some other screenshots: Should show more of the inside(only used end point instead of start point rotation, that's why the tribars were still in place) Only way to save space would be to make the part on the battery's side smaller(didn't want to make it too small for the stacking glitch), get the control board stacked(is that even possible with 2 batteries already stacked?) or move the batteries between the two baseplate anchors for the wheels(would most likely need to be a little wider).

For those that haven't seen it there has been a new announcement on the facebook page.
*look at the original post for the video*
Uhhh... how is this happening? Like, superb work in putting all this together, but surely now that the reboot is a thing, you guys don't have the rights to the Robot Wars name anymore? Unless this is becoming unofficial now... I'd certainly like to know why this has suddenly been announced, because I honestly don't really see this being included officially without some legal issues down the line.
Wouldn't the live shows have the same issue as well? I think there's a agreement here that we don't know of.

From experience I can confirm rotating the camera does help and getting the "super zoom" by going to the overview tab, zooming in as if you're taking a picture and going back to the components tab.
If all else fails, resort to movepixel as it makes it even easier.
Cool bots by the way!
Thanks friend. I'm using the rotate camera/zoom in glitch all the time but even with that it has been a hard, guess I'll just use movepixel. Any comments on how I could make the HS better/how to stack motors(on Snapper II's) so that they overlap similar to what Hercules' bot Messsynesss from the December LW Tournament did? Don't worry, I don't plan on entering it much in tournaments, it will be a replacement/last second bot just like a certain rammer bot that I plan on creating.

Faceless Void, Muscle Car and Tough Love 2 all look like clones. TL2 has closer wedges and the wheel ground clearance advantage however. Did you save the image as JPG/did any color corrections Badger? The skin on my bot looks a lot darker than the original file: In case you are using Windows Color Profiles, I really don't recommend that, half of the applications get it over Windows' profile while the other half gets it without it, better to manually adjust your monitor and pick S-RGB where available(so far that has given me the most accurate colors) Also both of my bots in the same round? I thought this was done so that only one of the two can advance, but doesn't seem to be the case with all teams. Is there still any time left if I wanted to send in a finished skin for your best dream or generic spinner? Think stuff's already recorded. Your Best Dream:look like RedAce for Thackerzod Tourament F.I.V.E.S
Both bots are angled vertical spinners, just like Nightmare from Battlebots: Your Best Dream: Doesn't have enough power to toss other bots and exposed weapon extenders. Might be able to kill a popup if it gets outta groups Spinner: Under weaponed for an HS and the caster setup doesn't look great Im Watching Pinball!!!: The dumb arena floor might let it get under some bots, but it's not making it outta groups
It once had 4 spinners(outer 2 without stacked spikes, spikes were also in front instead of sideways) wonder if that would've been enough in stock(think with the unstable SnapperII's it would have), having run it against Tricycle Takedown's Popups I don't think that will happen. Didn't have much more weight, hoped that extra motors would make it spin longer, also ran out of weight for casters so only each ends are covered. What's up with the arena floor? thought this would be the flat arena with low walls and the spinner in the middle?

Dayum man, I didn't even get my first entry submitted and some people taking up 2 slots?
Aw man, if I knew about that I wouldn't have sent in the spinner. I think we need to have reserved spots next time so the host sees how many people actually want to participate before allowing second bot entries(maybe they could only be reserved for a certain time no feedback/update post=slot gets free again?)

Your not and finally a GTM police member found me out lol.
not too happy with that -1, but I'd rather not start discussing about it. EDIT: Whoa whoa whoa whoa it says on the site that Behemoth won Heat A when they didn't. What gives?
You wanted them to win as well? Intro clips show a good chance that they got to be the wildcard.
I didn't get to watch the show but I saw all but 2 fights.
-The camera work is annoying. -JP sounds like he has a potato in his mouth. -When a bot like Razer (not a fanboy of that bot) goes out it sounds like no one cares. There is a lack of enthusiasm that was there in the old RW shows. -Nuts. -The Voice that indroduces stuff needs to die. get the other guy back! -I don't like the arena that much. -Thanks to that format we had Carbide/Cobald vs Behemoth 3 times. that is really something I want to see. the same fight 3 times. good choices there. can we please have just 2 bots per heat and let them fight 6 times maybe? -the production looks like one of the live shows filmed with cameras that are still under TV standards
As a Robot Wars fanboy who cried when Robot Wars dissapeared I must say that I prefer the new Battlebots seasons. Yes I really f-ing hate what ABC does with all the commercials and stuff but the fights and camerawork looks so much better. I guess I have to give Robot Wars another 2 years (til they reach season 3 again wich is my favorite) to become great again.
Right, I forgot to mention the voice in my post, liked the old one better(also no music?), Arena is rather small and basic, but who knows it will probably improve for the second season. Disliked the camera cuts as well, however it did get better in the fights after that, so maybe it was just an issue for the first episode. JP's mic was also low quality at certain points, hope they got the issues solved. Not too much of a fan of the format for other reasons, but one was a melee so we only had them fight two times(and this will sadly happen in all heats). You liked Season 3 the most as well? Guess you must've grown up with it just like I did(since I know you live in germany, you probably watched it on RTL(think that's where it was on)?) As for Diotoir, here's some info from the RW Wiki: Team Nemesis applied for the 2016 series of Robot Wars with Diotoir, but ultimately received no response from the producers and therefore failed to qualify. That really sucks and I hope they will be back for Series 2.

Looked at all the matches, Tastes like Spakle had the same win/loss as Late Night Aberriation. While TLS definitely had the instakill potential, I'm still going for LNA as most unlucky bot. Fun fact, for some odd reason TLS's wedges don't seem to be rotated downwards? They go completely horizontal.
Favorite is still F.I.V.E.S, with Conundrum v6 getting a close second place.
As for Favorite Match, looks like Papyrus Bike vs Tastes like Spakle is the most picked one(which funny enough, was my original guess vote) so I guess I pick that, would've loved to pick one of the Conundrum v6 vs F.I.V.E.S matches but there wasn't much going on there.

And with that, signups are closed! Bad luck to R01, who didn't submit a bot in time. Expect splashes tonight or tomorrow!
oh wait did mine kick him out
don't use delta thunder, it's a repost anyway
Nah it's my fault really, should've done this/got all the information way earlier instead of waiting last second and then doing a bot skin and uploading the bots on mega instead of directly sending my pm.(I'm a guy that gets stuff usually done way earlier and never late, dunno how I messed it up here but I'll try to get the bots ready for the other tournaments earlier) If you really want to, then the VS should be entered(the other bot I made is a generic HS and the VS would at least add some more creative bots).
nah don't worry bout it. i've already used Delta Thunder twice (three times if you count BotM) anyway
Alright if you say so, definitely big thanks for that. As for the second bot I'm not really sure since it's just a generic HS(you can see it, as well as my other entry in my stock showcase)
