Ladies, ladies, you're both equally lovely. But i'll take that on board as it goes for editing. 563 DSL TC Showcases / Re: DSC's IRL DSL showcase« on: July 13, 2011, 04:31:48 PM »
BB2? BB2!! Seeing as seemingly everyone is getting bots ready for Battlebots 2, I thought I'd do... exactly the opposite, and do a recording test. Recorded a COTT-like fight between two UHW bots with tons of breakable weapons to 'stress test' my FRAPS recording, and test video quality too. Quite impressed with the results, if not the AI job I did for the bots. Either way, comments are welcome on the presentation, as if this is deemed successful then I may start something. 564 Tournament Archives / Re: Not Quite Replica Wars: Splash, Brackets and Videos« on: July 13, 2011, 12:17:35 PM »DSC, please use spoilers. Next match seems to want to take ages to upload. Maybe another 1hr1/2... My apologies, although in my defence everyone was talking about the two matches after mine, hence why I thought it wasn't needed anylonger. 565 Tournament Archives / Re: Not Quite Replica Wars: Splash, Brackets and Videos« on: July 13, 2011, 11:23:11 AM »566 Tournament Archives / Re: BattleBots: Season 2« on: July 12, 2011, 11:50:45 AM »

Youtube is linked in my profile, but i've not posted there in 2 years (and is where my other hobby of online racing is evident). If anything RA2 related goes up there I will make it known though.

I do have a Youtube account, and both tourney ideas sound interesting =P I would need to go through a lot of bots and just fix a few simple things like batteries and such, but maybe thats something I can do on the side. On the theme of re-doing previous bots, and with Clash of the Titans getting back into the swing of things, I revamped my entry: Much closer to the weight limit, much better wedges, a lot faster and a lot more maneuverable. 572 DSL TC Showcases / Re: DSC's IRL DSL showcase« on: July 10, 2011, 01:06:29 PM »
Would you be able to suggest an alternative to the ramplate then? The discs can be argued as being redundant and are for additional protection, but in testing the ramplate came into play a lot, due to there being a few too many 'lucky' strikes hitting the motors and knocking them and half the weapon off.

Ronin disc was a poor attempt at a spacer so the disc was horizontal, due to the Rule of 7. But thanks to Somebody's suggestion, I had an extra link available and was able to make a better spacer, and add some protection to the discs and motors too. Win-win! I think this could be considered a 'finished' article. All testing was done on the RA2TT arena, and whilst it LOVES the walls, its very adept at staying inside. Of course it shares that common problem of charging flippers head on and just sailing out, but aside from that I'm satisfied, and looking to enter it in something. 574 DSL TC Showcases / Re: DSC's IRL DSL showcase« on: July 10, 2011, 10:44:59 AM » It is mounted vertically (and this has changed a fair bit since last night too.) And while I still love making IRL-style bots, I do like to experiment sometimes 575 DSL TC Showcases / Re: DSC's IRL DSL showcase« on: July 09, 2011, 08:14:06 PM » Codename: Demonic Dandilion. The entire weapon setup is on an axle, which makes for some interesting fights. 576 Tournament Archives / Re: Clash of the Titans - Splash, Brackets, and Videos« on: July 09, 2011, 05:37:20 PM »
2-stars was very generous of you. You're a saint of a person to see some merit in that fight =P

Hehe, no worries. I believe they're the same thickness as the normal skirts, which is why I tend to use them a lot. 578 DSL TC Showcases / Re: DSC's IRL DSL showcase« on: July 09, 2011, 03:00:25 PM »
Yes, that swings down at the start, but on its own it wasn't effective at getting under bots. The bottom wedges are to get under the other bot initially.
					 579 DSL TC Showcases / Re: DSC's IRL DSL showcase« on: July 09, 2011, 02:56:11 PM »
I know, I have failed you S_M =P As for the wedge, it's more to do with bringing another bot right off the ground, rather than just getting under it. I think it's more effective that way, as it allows the weapon to chop away. Obviously it's not going to work 100% of the time, but they work well together. 580 DSL TC Showcases / Re: DSC's IRL DSL showcase« on: July 09, 2011, 01:55:57 PM »DSC, send me all of your bots tommorow. I wanna see which one is the best :P I can't do that, mainly because i'm going through and re-doing a few of them, to try and implement what i've learnt since then. Speaking of which... Dragon Slayer II: Slay Harder. Got rid of the geared beta and re-did the weapon, to almost a 'chomper'. Would be an effective crusher in DSL 3.0 imo. Added a better srimech, and it now steers straight with the change to 4WD. New artwork, including a 'battlescarred' version t make it look like it's had a few hundred fights |
