That looks a lot better, but I reccommend dropping down to only one top hammer, in order to give your bot bottom protection and tougher armour.
In my testing, it couldn't self-right with only one top hammer. But then, it can't really self-right with the balance sheet in the back, so i donno/
Hmm. My bot can self-right just fine with this sort of setup- Maybe try something along these lines, and see what luck you're having?

Alright, we're getting there! Doesn't need the spikes on the back - the amount of times they'll come into play is limited at best, so you're best off dropping them and using the weight to put more spikes on the front. In RA2, it's very much about making the core basics as strong as possible, and leaving all the extra's and "what if"'s by the wayside.
You could also make the chassis smaller still, by building a chassis designed to fit your components in and nothing else. Still, it's better than your first attempt, and you're learning, so keep it up! It took me 14 attempts with my first bot to make something which was accepted by the community, so you've got a long way to go yet - if you're willing to put the time and effort in, however, you'll be awarded with some acclaim, and some really cool looking designs. Keep striving and pushing for greater, more efficient designs with every bot, and eventually you'll come out with some gold.
If you keep up with your chassis optimization and general building skills, you should eventually be able to have 10 Iron Spikes on a practical LW setup.

Just found the original thread!
Are places still open for bots to be submitted?
I'm afraid not! Filming has started.
Keep your eyes open for submissions openings for Series 3 though!
Heads-up for the commentary - you can refer to me as FOTEPX if you dare pronounce it (pronounced foe-tep-ex), although the names Shima33 and Flight Of The Eagle Productions X are also available. Accredit me how you will!

Fun fact: If you go to the Chassis Paint Job tab, you will see two buttons underneath the Robot preview, called Export Paint Template and Import Custom Paint. With this, you can give your bot a much better looking skin than anything you can pull off in-game. (I should make a tutorial on that sometime...) Anyways, onto the bot. Are you going for a realistic build style, or an efficient one? If you're going for realism, you've already got it nailed - if you're going for efficiency however, make the chassis smaller, add more Iron Spikes, drop the ram plate entirely, and remove that ant battery. Either way, build to the weight limit! There's a lot more armour options in DSL 2.2, so it's a lot easier to build to the weight limit in DSL than it is in stock. Overall, not bad for a rookie. Keep it up, you're getting there! We'll squeeze a good bot out of you yet!

Could you disable the check that disallows robots to have heavier armour if the robot is over 800KG's? What with the support of SHW's and above on the components side, I think it should also be supported on the armour side.

Also I have no idea what to do with the batteries; the motors say how many amps they take but all the batteries just give me "power units".
Just keep testing your bots in fights, and see how many batteries you can remove before the robot doesn't last the whole 3 minutes. When you reach that point, start adding batteries back in until you get to the point where you have just enough to last the 3 minutes. Personally, I'd remove those ants, and get some sort of Snow Plow setup on the front rather than those angled shell plates. Also, why ant saws?

I was just thinking about it last night, and I wasn't able to come to a definitive conclusion, so I figured we might as well sort it with a poll. What do you guys think? In case you don't know what the "Component Freedom" hack is, a link can be found here- https://gametechmods.com/forums/index.php?topic=18939.0

Hey, that one isn't half bad! I think you might be able to transition it over to DSL 2.2 as well.

I could donate one of my bots to be Coal Miner, if you wanted - the bot in my showcase has improved quite a lot now, so you could always use that.
Also, the older Industrial Coal Miner also runs out of battery after about 2 minutes, which means that it dies off in your average DSL fight pretty quickly. Quite a few bots have issues with batteries, actually, what with DSL's changeups...

Well let's be honest here, aren't we all dying a little inside, but just poorly masking it with illusions of being sociable people, hiding in the veils and shadows of what we thought we were supposed to be?

You don't need that many batteries. Get rid of a few and use NPC Fasts as your wheel motors.

Is it just me who notices that you can build past 800KG's without an antiballast with this mod?
It's been posted in the OP. He used his no mass limits mod as well.
Oh, didn't know the OP had been updated. Anyway, V2.0's taking things too far, especially in terms of DSL and Ironforge. Like, with Stock, I get it - gives some more life to the base game, and all - but for DSL, Ironforge and all that? ...Sheesh.
