Holy crap Nary, that only took 75 seconds :O
FOTEPX - HPZ drive may be nice, but the chained motor setup tends to flex a lot when turning, so HPZs for drive would probably destabilize it too much. Also, while making the back part of the chassis smaller sounds good in theory, do you have any idea how much of a pain it is working with Trov'd chassis like that? Doing what you're suggesting is nearly impossible. EDIT: Wow guys, 6 replies in 5 minutes :O That's gotta be some sort of Stock showcase record.

Well I saw Pwn was trying to build a MW VS. So I got off my ass (well, not really...) and built one because he has NO IDEA WHAT HE'S DOING. Actually, I basically just re-worked the chassis of my last MW VS and modified the setup. Oh and I skinned it too. Presenting Lodbrok: I'm thinking of making a version with chained HPZ's since the redbird-HPZ combo isn't quite as powerful as I'd like.

(plus no one comments on stock bots. *hint hint*)
FEAR NOT FOR I HAVE RETURNED. NOT FOR LONG HOWEVER. SORRY TO DISAPPOINT. 'Sup GTMs Scrap - 1. I'd flip the setup on the poker and have the piston at the top with the razors pointing down. As it is, it looks like wedges can slide right underneath with little to no damage. 2. We're vets now? Cool. HIIIIIIIGH FIVE. 3. We should play some L4D2 or something someday. Mabye if I'm not playing Xbox with my IRL friends and family. 4. Why the is everybody ACAMS now? It's confusing.

Why is there all of a sudden NO RECORD of Sparktheflame at all? Was he a multiaccount? EDIT: Wait, what. It looks like his showcase was just eaten by the mods :S Oh, and Hydro's vid reminds me of moobnovs. I can't...quite...figure...out...why...

Yay a debate. Anyways, Both of them take skill Stock's more about glitching skills and DSl's more about creativity, ofcourse they are both massively influenced by other things aswell though.
While I agree with you on your first point, I have to point out that being successful in Stock takes much, much more creativity than being successful in DSL. Think about it like this: components are like letters of the alphabet. Stock gives us lets say 5, while DSL gives us 20. Using DSL's 20 letters, it's fairly easy to spell a wide range of vastly different words, although you will also get many that mean basically the same thing. With Stock, however, we've been able to use the same 5 letters to 'spell' horizontal spinner, rammer, popup, drum, hammer, poker, etc. All of these words still exist in the DSL vocabulary, but for the most part, if 'spelling' popup in DSL takes five letters, you'll be able to use seven new ones to spell HS. I hope that makes as much sense to you guys as it does in my head :P DSL is more about variety. You have a wide array of available components, and this tends to give the illusion of creativity. While it is creative to a certain extent, using different components to construct the same things is not nearly as creative as using the same components to construct different things. Also, If you put magically brilliant wedges that could get under everything on a bot that was built by an average noob who hasn't posted a showcase or lurked, they would be easily beaten by ANY design the top rung builders in dsl built. So how can it be all about the wedges?
This hypothetical bot would defeat 4 of the 6 BBEANS champions, regardless of weight class or game version. It's a bit too much about wedges. At least in Stock, it's a little more fairly balanced, but wedges play a bit too large of a role there too. Ideally, I'd like to see a rammers and VS be a bit more effective, but they really won't be just because of how both Stock and DSL work. Of course, I've been a Stock guy my whole time here, and I like to think that I've been one of the guys who's continuously pushed the limits of what we thought possible, so "returning to the old ways" kinda seems like it's undermining all of the steps forward that Sage and Pwn and Scrap and myself, and Inf and Pys before us, and eFFe and Luigica and FB and CB before them, and way back to Starcore and ACAMS and co. back at the beginning have been working on making. "The old ways" weren't necessarily the best ways - just like I think the old forums weren't as absolutely spectacular as many of us have made them out to be.

Pwn - Where do you get 14 kg from? Both weigh ~796 kg.
Sage - T connectors were the first things that came to mind for that setup. I could easily axle load the discs and use 20 cm extenders now that I've thought about it, but I'll do that when I have more time. And there's really barely any empty space on the popup :3

Well hai guise. I haven't posted since the 8th :| University will do that I guess. I've lurked a little here and there, and I got a couple of (generic) things built today. Yay. Pretty generic drum. Not great against HS (really exposed sides and extenders, I know), but DDT wedges make it a threat to other gut rippers. DSA, 2 blacks, 24 razors. And a pretty generic popup. DSA, 2 blacks, and six shiny ramplates and silver extenders :O EDIT: I just realized that I forgot to re-invert this image. The weight says 796.2 kg :P I have no idea when I'll have enough time to post regularily again, but hopefully it won't be too long. Comment away!

Got your PM. Normally, I'd be game for online or anything RA2, but with school and stuff (midterms soon... ugh) I've been pretty swamped recently. Hell, I don't even think I've been in the botlab since I built my last VS's Mabye when I get some free time closer to finals I can get back into RA2 and the community in general.

Y'know, sometimes, I think some people in the community MIGHT just be closing in on CB in terms of sheer creative brilliance. And then he posts something and proves I'm an idiot. Again. And again. And again. Great job once again. Oh, and: DP. Hope you guys find some humour in this xD (Image removed from quote.)
Let the creepy worship begin.

Why you guys hatin' on TaN? It's basically the most intelligently designed robot ever, and absolutely beautiful to watch in battle. #1 on my list of all-time favourites.

its kinda annoying to have a worse score from entering more BBEANS then others :P
Yeah i agree.
6th position is not bad but i should be before R0B0 and Mike :P But it's just a rating after all.
No you shouldn't. My bot was clearly superior to yours in the last two BBEANS :P

That being said, "just screaming" isn't music. screaming correctly is. And, to me, someone who can switch back and forth seamlessly between screaming and singing, and do both well, is much more talented than someone who doesn't scream at all.
Mikael Akerfeldt of Opeth. 'Nuff said. Anyways, I've never really been a thrash guy. I've always liked the more sludge, stoner and prog stuff. I'm really digging Mastodon, Baroness, Opeth and Isis at the moment.

At least I beat Nary in the grudge match :D
Congratz to Sage, Pwnator, Virus Bomb and all others who did well, and those who made the tournament entertaining.
And (I can't believe no one has done this) a HUGE thank you to Clickbeetle for making this not only the largest, but the best (no offence other hosts) tourney in RA2. I'm confident that this community would be dead without you. Thanks once again!
