I don't get it. Is anything in this thread particularly funny? It seems like the goal is just post a random picture and state the most obvious thing possible about it.
I suppose, in a way, it's kinda funny... but not really. Depends on the posters. The recent ones suck, but there are plenty of good ones online, and I'm sure a lot of them are in the Jokes thread.

Slaying Mantis is probably a better HS killer than Fatal Encounter because the trapping works better, and the bots don't slide up and nail the extenders, but it lacks in most other categories. Most good bots with a wedge should beat it pretty easily, and might not be the best choice for BBEANS5 because of that.
Cold Front is very well built, but could use some tweaks. First off, those irons aren't doing much more than defense at this point. What i would do is make them axes (get rid of those side razors for more weight) and slant them upwards. then they will be both defense and offense. For the invertible issue, you could lower the rows of weapons and turn the axes sideways. Won't be as symmetrical, but efficiency>looks.
The reason there aren't many of this type of design because of exactly what you said: it takes a long time to KO. The bots usually just slide up and go over with minimal damage.
As for entering this into BBEANS5, just know that my entry will probably be Vise, and your wedge will fail if it goes against that.

Takes one to know one, MM. Not really. There could be a really stupid person in a class who knows this one kid is extremely smart. He isn't smart, but he still knows someone else is. There could be a really good builder who sees a crap builder and knows hes crappy. The good builder isn't crappy, but still knows that the other guy is. There could be a human who sees a dog and knows it's a dog, even though the human isn't a dog. There could be a guy who sees a statue and knows it's a statue, even though he isn't a statue (This one could be related to any object, therefore making an almost unlimited amount of counter-examples.) Case Closed.

HURRAH FOR SAGE'S SKIN PACK.
For Vortex CE, nice attempt at an HS. Everyone says "big wheels, big target" but those wheels are skinny, making it harder to hit from the side (where wheels are usually hit).
One thing you should keep in mind is that you shouldn't listen to Naryar all the time. He's strictly by the book, and has little real expeirance in good stock building.
Here's my table:
HW HS- 2 blacks. NO exceptions.
HW popup- 2-3 Burst Motors= 3 Blacks (4 if you have extra weight, but should probably use it for armor), 4 Burst motors= 4 Blacks (3 if really, really desperate for weight, but plan for 4)
HW VS- 2 blacks.
HW Rammer- 4wd is 1 black. this is where the 2 black rule is not needed, cause it's just drive motors. 6wd you really should use 2 blacks, because if you use one it will be actually about the same speed as 4wd with 2 blacks, just a little faster perhaps (no concrete testing here)
All that is from almost 2 years experiance. But, each and every design is different.
More Battery- More Power- More Used Weight
Less Battery- Less Power- MOre free wieght to use on other things.

It's the truth. I have gotten close many a time. what happens is the maces start falling off first, but then all the irons go away at about the same time. Maces have shorter reach, but on an HS that doesn't matter, especially when they protect the extender. The main weakness of the HS design is the very vulerable extenders, so maces are the clear choice for most HS. Bearclaws are also very nice, but don't do as much damage. (I don't care what the .txt says. I have no reason to check except to defend my argument, which i don't have to unless someone attacks it. If the .txt says it's better, I don't care, cause I saw what happened to my 48 claw HS against AC.)
^Long parentheses. But the point is, Maces are very good, bearclaws are amazing for their weight, Irons have good reach but aren't very durable.
